Thread: How do you deal with a Cloaker?

Well one way is to have an ally. Have your ally shadow the Jedi you are fighting, making sure he/she is within 20m at all times. If he/she is on a Swoop, then even FR2 won't make a difference. Problem solved.

Still won't take a cloaker with FR2 down if they don't want to duel. And I'm not dueling anymore untill this XP nerf on Jedi is improved or XP loss reduced.

***EDIT*** posted too soon

Lol, if a cloaker with those skills still goes down, then they didn't act smart. And I've just dealt with somebody using a swoop to follow me, doesn't always work for long.

1) FR2 acceleration is instant, swoop acceleration is not. In the time it takes your pal on his swoop to get up to the speed of the Jedi, he'll already be 20m away and cloaked.
2) A third party trailing another person is griefing
3) What the hell kind of bullsh*t solution is this supposed to be, Tanks? I have to drag another person around with me on the off-chance my mark has cloak. The Devs want BH/Jedi combat to be 1v1 so why the hell should I need another person? And what the hell am I supposed to do if my mark (like most) cloaks as soon as a dot shows on radar? I'm supposing next you'll suggest I bring my entire guild along just to drain his force.
I know you have a powers Jedi, and I've made my peace with that. Hell the vast majority of your posts lately have been to boost powers. But if you can't admit that cloak is one of the most unbalanced skills in this game just to protect your template, then you have a serious conflict of interest as the BH correspondent.

Cloak is mostly an escape/delay tactic and it costs SP. The only way it could be considered the most unbalanced is to the bounty hunters that call for it's nerf countless times a day. If it's not cloak, it force run and before then it was saber block.

Jedi aren't required to duel everytime a BH shows up. I like having the option of coninuing my business if I'm smart about it. Every Jedi chooses their defense tactics, cloaking is just one of many. And it's not as godly as everyone thinks, and I won't talk about my tactics or weaknesses.

Good point.

Not during PvP. In this case the third party is assisting in the fight.

3) The Devs want BH/Jedi combat to be 1v1 so why the hell should I need another person?

Well, that's what devs want. But, to be honest I am not sure whether it should be so or not. Right now a very good BH with the right skillset can fight a full template Jedi to a standstill, but majority of the time the BHdoes lose. I watched a BH fight an MDEF Jedi for FOURTY-FIVE minutes yesterday. He had 8K energy armor with AB slice, was very good with his management of foods and spices and was doing decent damage and had good heals. The only reason he could not finish the Jedi off at the end was his 500 use powerup got used up, and then he wasn't doing much damage. Most of the time to fight is Jedi's choice when the Jedi is full template.

And what the hell am I supposed to do if my mark (like most) cloaks as soon as a dot shows on radar? I'm supposing next you'll suggest I bring my entire guild along just to drain his force.

Well, what would you do if your mark is a Master enhancer and uses Paralysis + FR3? By the time it wears off and you are ready to go your mark is gone in this case as well. Should we nerf the Enhancers too?

Believe me, there is more than one Jedi skill that is annoying. The question iswhether the skills are unbalanced or annoying? There has been a lot of discussions on the Corr. forums regarding "Cloak". The "alpha strike" ability I have mentioned before was the devs response.

At this point our top issue is the /duel exploit. There have been many cases where the Jedi knew I was hunting them before the droid came back with their name. That takes away our biggest advantage.

My advice is to catch them off guard and kill them fast (like at a shuttleport terminal). Most cloakers have gimped defenses and will go down fast. Catch them at the worst possible time and they won't know what hit them.

Use parwan nutricake to burstrun and stay close. Use snares and root.

If they get away and they don't want to fight, cancel the mission and move on. Otherwise you have to be an opportunist and be very patient, track them, and catch them when they least expect it.

I held a mission for a cloaker for a day that had logged off, and I had a waypoint for where he would log in. When he logged in, I caught him.

After tracking another,I found outhewas doing the corvette mission, I was waiting for him when he got there.

Be sneaky.

That's Master Enhancer. I don't have a problem with master level skills being powerful because that's 89 SP out of their template that could've been used for defense and offense. Not to mention that the 15M XP that comes with it is a lot to work for.

Cloak's only tier 4, so not only can that come at an early stage in a Jedi's grind (perfect for escaping XP loss), but it's also just a small fraction of a Jedi's potential template.

Today I managed to kill my first cloaker. I tracked him to the roof of a vendor and called my med droid (which was definitely needed). Because of the TEF he couldn't crawl back downstairs and out, nor could he get more than 20m away from me. But even with us trading blows at melee range, it still took me 15 mins to drop him. He was only 220k, so even with 32 SP missing from other skills, he still had even defense/offense to put up a heck of a fight.

I put them on /addignore and go on to the next mission. You can't do much unless they want to fight -- and most will not fight but they still hang around to taunt you, which is what /addignore is for.

The last BH that came for me had no problem hitting me through the cloak.

Poison, fire, did the electrolyte drain so I could barely move.

Not sure if DOT's incap as Fire and poison used to be able to pre-cu.

Not sure if it was intended that way but sure was a surprise on my part.

When I pull the mission of a suspected cloaker, I group my pet kima, and start a macro that has the pet follow the mark. While this does not "save the day" in all cases, it has bought me time before the jeeedi can cloak.

if a Jedi is a cloaker they're probibly also an enhancer with at least force run.

if you have force run that means you also have a root.

all that Jedi has to do is root you and it's over.

you are able to heal while cloaked. If you already have cloak you should have 4000 heal also. Just heal until the DoTs wear off.
