I am new to smuggler and was wondering will my slices be better ifI achieve master smuggler instead of just slicer? Or will they max at slicing 4?

Has the FAQ been re-stickied yet? Didn't notice...


Here is the quick-and-dirty:


1. Pick 'Slice' and you get FIRST window up.
2. Select 'Use Molecular Clamp' ... then you get SECOND windowup.
3. READ THE TOP OF THE SECONDWINDOW -- IT GIVES A STRONG HINT
4. Select the 'Cut wire' option for the wire that is mentioned at the top of the window.
5. Then you get the THIRD menu up, which only lists the two wires, one of which you already cut.
6. CUT THE OTHER WIRE.

I am just starting on slicing 3. What I want to know is, once I hit Armor slicing, will I get better slicing for armor if I'm at slicing 4, or is it the same as slicing 3.

slicing 4 has better slices than 3, and master better than 4.

How do you know that? In the smuggler tree there are no stats for slicing percentages and such.

I know its probably been asked, but does anyone know how much better a master is than a Slicer? I'm 0440 and debating whether or not to go master.

FAQs are a wonderful thing. But anyways, Masters have about a 5% increase.

I just made novice smuggler a few days ago and decided to try and slice one of the locked containers I have picked up over my journeys. I have looked through some of the faq and such and they helped a lot but I still have some questions. So i made one of the knives and clicked on the locked continer to slice it. So a message comes up that had 4 or 5 choices the top two being to cut a wire and the others were things that I didnt have the equipment for. I am wondering if there is a correct wire to cut all the time or if its a fifty-fifty chance or what, I know with more equipment you could diagnose/analyse the container. Well anyways I clicked on the top choice and I get a message that says that the container makes a noise and is locked forever. I just want to know if: there is a correct wire to cut, that just happens sometimes, Im an idiot and should never post again, there is an explanation in this thread,etc...

It's a 50/50 chance it's not always the same wire you need to cut first. Find a smuggler supplies vendor and buy a crate of molecular clamps. They will tell you with 100% accuracy which wire to cut first. The first thing you choose on the slicing menu then is to use a molecular clamp, then read what it says and cut the appropriate wire first.

Its funny because right after I posted I found some info at the end of the FAQ. Well I guess Ill go get some molecular clanps.
