u need

1) a laser knife

2) weapons upgrade kit

3) (optional) a flow analyzer node or molecular clamps.

u go to the weapon in the inventory screen and select slice from the radial. then you choose one of the wires (re or blue) then theres a 50/50 chance u boost either the weapons speed or damage from 12-30%. flow analyzers increase success to 75%, and clamps make it 100%.

to craft a laser knife you need 16 metal

to craft a FAN u need 40 metal i think

to craft a clamp u need 90 metal.

everytime you use a laser knife, fan, and clamp, its used up and anohter must be made. laser knifes have 10 uses. clamps and FANS have 1.

I just got novice smuggler and I've been reading the boards about slicing, but I have one real big question ( well actually two) 1. How can i tell if a weapon/ piece of armor has been sliced or can be sliced? Does the color change? and 2. Does the certified: yes/no mean anything when dealing with slicing? I still don't know what it means also.

Currently the only way to tell if a weapon has been sliced is to try and slice it. If Slice comes up as an option on the radial menu, then it has not yet been sliced. The Certified yes/no just indicates whether you are certified to use that weapon, and has nothing to do with slicing.

Can a Master Smuggler control, or boost the possibility of a higher percentage slice by the tools he uses?

If so I will be way more careful when looking to get a weapon sliced, because I am now using these outrageously price Krayt pistols and need all I can get out of them.

My last two slices (FWG5's) have both been 25% damage slices. I am glad they were damage, but I, of course want to do anything I can do to help increase the odds of a 32% - 35% damage slice.

Please educate a Pistoleer and customer.

There is no way to choose between a speed or damage slice, it's completely random. As for the %, the effectiveness rating of the WUK may have a *small* influence, but lots of tests and data seem to show that the amount sliced for is completely random as well. So you can only cross your fingers and hope to get lucky. And get the smuggler to use 99% WUKs if it makes you feel better (most masters do anyway).

My opinon(and the majority it seems): It is 100% random on amount and what gets sliced. I have used 98% tools and 0% tools. no differance noted. I will slice MY gear with 0% tools.

The Facts: there are none. we are all guessing based on what we have done.

Advice: Buyer beware, read the FAQ above, and make sure some sleazeball didn't slap a Powerup on your weapon after a slice. FYI-Slicing removes power-ups.

Is anyone else getting consistant low slices? I only have slicing 4,I'm not a master but up until yesterday I was getting pretty good slices,uper 20's even a few in the low 30's . But now i am lucky if i get a slice above 20%. Is there something going on or am I just having a run of bad luck. Any thoughts would be helpfull.

Can a weapon be sliced more than once by multiple smugglers?

example:

1.Does a Damage slice

2.A Different Smuggler does a Speed Slice etc.
