I have to apologize - I just logged back out of the game, but when I was on I checked, mission incomplete, not failed.
However, Im glad to see I started a nice troll-war. After reading all the crap in here I dont feel like such a moron.

okay, yeah mission incoplete's are a different story, if it was mission incomplete you shouldn't go on boards. If it's mission failed then, yes you should go on boards.

Put me on the terms, I don't care. I'll take whatever you dish out.

Only thing I see is you could loseyour chance at killing abounty because you die while on mission. Other than that, nothing worse than normal PvP. To top it off, I'd be hard to catch, because I'm always moving... evenmore than Jedi.

BH should absolutely NOT go on the terms. Even if he fails a mission. The reason why smugglers should go on terms for failed smuggling missions is because the contractor is loosing alot of money. You lost his briefcase full of drugs and now you gotta pay up. If a BH fails his mission there's no loss in it for the contractor so why should he want to put him on the terms? That's just stupid. Besides, the contractors don't always hire a bountyhunter, they post a bounty and bountyhunters compete for the prize. Half the time the contractor doesn't even know who's on the job.

This thread is partly a vent, but also the main reason we shouldn't be penalized for failed missions. I was hunting a mark, followed him from planet to planet, watched him from afar, waited for the right time to attack, and then made my move. I did considerable damage, and Im assuming he had alot of his sp in defender and/or healer, since he did almost no damage to me, but his health just kept refilling - it was almost ridiculous how much damage I did to him overall. then another BH showed up after about 5 minutes of fighting, and joined in. The other BH had an inferior pistol to mine, and yes I raed through my combat logs to make sure, and he got the deathblow because he was closer when we got him incapped. Failed mission. I got there first, did most damage, and lost the mission because of the other BH's deathblow.
Which brings up another question: If the other bh and I had grouped, and triple incapped him, would we both have completed the mission? and received payment?
Im not pissed about the other bh, thats fine, but I shouldnt have got a failed mission message, and I definitely dont think any of us should get penalized in this instance.
BH say to jedi...dont want to die dont get on the terms. Now I say, dont want to get on terms, dont fail your mission? easy enough?

How about this for a reason. I go, take a high end mission because I am a BH for the fight not for the payout. I find my mark on Datho, we engage in combat- we fight for around 5 minutes when things are looking sour for me. I then use as many defensive things as I can to tank while I wait for my next heal time to come around and for my action to regen. In this time the Jedi must have thought he had an easy win and dropped his guard while coming in. I drop a 1100 heal and then deciminate him. He is incap'd... I am 40 meters away, I know I will not get the DB and going in too far will spell certain death for me. I move into about 20 metes and then incap him again while moving in. I am 4/5ths of the way to deathblow when he stands up and kills me. He gets the DB, I fail the mission. I could have easily gotten him with the triple incap, but then I would have just needed to start over again when he cloned. MAYBE if triple incap = mission complete I would agree, but if the only way to actually complete the mission and recieve payment is to get the ever elusive DB then thats just bull.

Sorry but way wrong. A jedi is NOT a regular character. They arespecial, bonus characters and should be subjegated to these types of penalties. Bounty Hunters are in abundance in this time period and should not be. There are supposed to be NO jedi. Jedi being on the BH terms is the only thing this game is offering to continuity...its not much, but its something. There is no reason BHers should be on the BH terminals.

Here's the way I would like to see bounties conducted.
Nr. 1 - Jedi Bounties. As they are. No changes needed.
Nr. 2 - Smuggler Bounties. Bounties placed on smugglers by contractor for failed missions.
Nr. 3 - All player Bounties. If you're killed in pvp, via gank or what ever. A popup window opens up asking whether you would like to place a bounty on the player who killed you. If you press yes then you type in the ammount of money you would like to place on his head. As more time goes by the pool on the mark gets higher as more victims place more bounties. Pretty soon these marks start to look very desireable. As soon as the mark gets taken out the bounty hunter claims the pool of credits.
This would make it so people aren't using a bounty system to harrass other players, and it discourages ganking.
