That makes absolutely no sense.

Bounties are paid only upon completion. Contractors spend nothing unless the contract is fulfilled. When someonesponsors a bounty, the only investment they make is when the target is dead. Why should they care if an independent hunter fails? No skin off of their nose, so to speak. If a Bounty Hunter dies trying to bring in a mark, someone else will do it.

That would be like putting out a reward for a lost cat and then fining everyone who looked, but didn't find it.

Now if contractors paid Hunters in advance and the Hunter failed to deliver, I could see cause for another bounty. But why make a second investment when all you are interested in is the first?

Of wait, sorry. Excuse me, I just had to get that out. As a BH I think it would be fun to hunt some of you NOOB respec bounty hunters and add YOUR names to my list of kills in a new list under DISGRACEFUL MEMBERS OF THE TRADE.

lol - I seem to have been complaining. please excuse the lame whining in my original post, and also please excuse the fact that ive been a ranged bh for almost 7 months now - never respec'd any skillpoints, and never stacked any melee, and still ran missions. I agree that bhs that cant handle the pvp and tactics that are needed to be sucessful should prolly drop bh for master image designer or somethin, but my point was that my kill got sniped by another bh - strict violation of the bh code. and it resulted in a failed mission, which has been said to get us on the terms. so, all of us, regardless of how good we are, are at risk for getting on the terms. not just the noobs and respecs.

see ya on the terms, friend!

The "bh" code was before the empire. If i remeber correctly , it was Bobo Fett who made it obsolute.

How about this for a reason. I go, take a high end mission because I am a BH for the fight not for the payout. I find my mark on Datho, we engage in combat - we fight for around 5 minutes when things are looking sour for me. I then use as many defensive things as I can to tank while I wait for my next heal time to come around and for my action to regen. In this time the Jedi must have thought he had an easy win and dropped his guard while coming in. I drop a 1100 heal and then deciminate him. He is incap'd... I am 40 meters away, I know I will not get the DB and going in too far will spell certain death for me. I move into about 20 metes and then incap him again while moving in. I am 4/5ths of the way to deathblow when he stands up and kills me. He gets the DB, I fail the mission. I could have easily gotten him with the triple incap, but then I would have just needed to start over again when he cloned. MAYBE if triple incap = mission complete I would agree, but if the only way to actually complete the mission and recieve payment is to get the ever elusive DB then thats just bull.

Erm, triple incap = mission complete

Same should go for smugglers when/IF they ever get a revamp. I don't mind being on the terms, just means i have to step up my game and not cruise coro like a noob waving my saber at everyone.

Right so lets say for example as like happened earlier on I go to lok, reach my mark and they start to run, they are less then 2m's from a house door and I manage to root. I shoot and shoot, and they heal and heal until the root wears off and run into said house. So really what am I meant to do with the mission when they do this? Enlighten me. I'll obviously have to abort said mission and *I* may end up being put on the terminals myself for this? Total rubbish.

why rubbish? you failed to kill the mark. The housing is supposed to be an "exploit" or so the devs say which will be fixed someday....prob about the same time the bh on bh terms would come out. Even if you were on the terms there is no reason to cry, you dont lose 200k + xp for dieing, just your pride. Jedi lose both.

This thread is partly a vent, but also the main reason we shouldn't be penalized for failed missions. I was hunting a mark, followed him from planet to planet, watched him from afar, waited for the right time to attack, and then made my move. I did considerable damage, and Im assuming he had alot of his sp in defender and/or healer, since he did almost no damage to me, but his health just kept refilling - it was almost ridiculous how much damage I did to him overall. then another BH showed up after about 5 minutes of fighting, and joined in. The other BH had an inferior pistol to mine, and yes I raed through my combat logs to make sure, and he got the deathblow because he was closer when we got him incapped. Failed mission. I got there first, did most damage, and lost the mission because of the other BH's deathblow.

Which brings up another question: If the other bh and I had grouped, and triple incapped him, would we both have completed the mission? and received payment?
Im not pissed about the other bh, thats fine, but I shouldnt have got a failed mission message, and I definitely dont think any of us should get penalized in this instance.

No, shouldn't have there be any penalty for failing missions. Not like Jedi who go LD and get reamed by some coward and lose 300k xp or anything. Lets not actually have there be any penalties for BHs, since Jedi are just BH content after all.

Make us as ridiculously overpowered as Jedi and I will gladly accept being on terms and XP loss to boot, give us have to arse kissing that Jedi get rom the DEvs and I will accept both or one as well. Give me a break, Jedi get EVERYTHING in this game to the exclusion of EVERYONE else, they got this one tiny little thing and still you whine whine whine. Is outrageous.

This shouldn't be a problem because in the future they are talking of having only 1vs1 BH versus Jedi so another BH won't be able to assit you going after your mark. Your failure or successwill rest in your hands not in some other BH's, which is the way it should be.

LoL, so this means when(not if) a BH fails my mission I can hop on my BH character and kill them again, hopefully over and over singling them out.

Jedi > BH, always will be, the sooner you deal with it the sooner you can get back to cloning.

Jedi Vis-

use there powers (obviously)

Bounty Hunter Vis-

1)Killed by his mark

2)Fails several missions in a row

3)(here's a radical idea) kills too many marks in a row (like 20-25, because people would start to get scared that you're too powerful and want to place a bounty on your head as well. Not to mentionthe bounty on your headshould havea huge reward, bigger than normal)

Fails to many missions ina row

I'll be interested in seeing if bounty hunters hide in houses when this change happens. I imagine you won't since you lose nothing for dying.

Of course, that'll mean that hunting BHs is easier and more profitable than hunting Jedi (unless the payouts are VERY low).

Either way I think my respecced MBH will definitely see some action.
