Thread: Is this an exploit?

so you are telling me that if i'm killing krayts and a bh attacks me, i root him and go for him draging the krayt/s after me to him it's an exploit? the bh is going to get hit by the krayt until it decides to leave..... you have to be kidding me...
was thinking the same thing, I have only died once from a bh and thats because I had a giant canyon krayt on me, if I saw him earlier you can bet I would have brought it with me for the fight.

Actually poster this is an exploit more specifically denoted as training, and its a bannable offense. A player cannot drag aggro creatures ontop of another player without consent, or more specific to cause that player unwanted harm. You did not engage in activity that would drag the attack upon yourself. The player intentionally pulled aggro radius onto you that you would otherwise avoid.
edit: fixed the link to Rules and Policies

"6. You may not intentionally circumvent the player-versus-player combat features and cause another player to die, such as by "training" them.
Training is defined as pulling/leading a hostile NPC or creature along behind you and attempting to get it to attack another player who does not desire that engagement.
The intentional training of NPCs or Creatures will result in immediate disciplinary action when witnessed by a CSR, or if sufficient evidence is available. We are aware that accidents often happen causing unintentional trains, and will scrutinize each report of this activity closely. "

Okay so take on an Imp Jedi. So I head to Tant and get his name and head over to where he is. Okay so I see him grinding with one other person. So I buff up, eat my food and head out to him. During the fight I see a CM using BactaSpray, so I have no clue what he is doing till the end.
The fekker drags 8 level 82 level mobs on top of me with his ALT and drops them on me while he roots me with his jedi.
Their has to be a way around this, I see the mobs so I use bacta shot and stims avoiding spray just for this reason. If this, then I will do a report, but I need to get some sort of feed-back because useing an alt to ditch out of a BH cause you suck and are getting to like 1/8th of your health then use that.
This is the most upset I have been ever, I don't care if a Jedi waxes me in combat, and I have all the respect for them if they can, and if any of the ones that read this are some that have bested me they will know that I show them the up most respect. But this just irks the living crap out of me because of this fool. Feed Back be nice. Thanks.

Sounds like a smart tactic ! LOL whats funny is this sounds a lot like the jedi whiners that complain because a BH waits to attack them when they are spin grouping
Its not smart its extremely dumb and to the guy who thinks he will not get banned for it is entirely in the dark. This is one of those things where CSRs ban players on the spot for no warning no nothing. Especially if you use it on another player. I know personally of atleast 10 players getting banned on the spot for this.
This is beyond a oh thats cuts its viscious and if a CSR sees any player doing it count on fast retaliation. The reason is obvious this system can be used to generate forced pvp and more importantly to kill hundreds of players in a day. This particular exploit if gone unchecked has the potential to cause massive problems.
Report the player and the conduct. The csr will then put the player on the watch list and yes csrs will follow a player. To watch their conduct. Even if a csr dosent immediately put the player on a watch list. Their name being added for this exploit on many occassions will add up to circumstantial proof.
The most important thing is that people report other people that do this. Even a stiff warning of 3 day suspension can convince most players to stop this behavior and thats good all around.
fyi, the training section of the tos is very specific. it mentions the trainee (target of monsters) no desiring the encounter. if you attack someone first, you are open to whatever they can drag / throw / toss at you, within the rules of course.
so, in my god-like opinion
So devs do look at this and its a very high offense and is perma bannable.

sounds like what i see commonly. i see bh talk about attacking jed while they are engaged against a group and it's all good. training refers (in my experience) to dragging mobs on a PVE guy. in pvp, dragging mobs on your opponent is just smart. i use spawns to tank for me all the time. same concept, differnet implementation.

so, in my god-like opinion, i'd say it's fairplay. the fact that he did it with his alt instead of having a friend do it makes no dif as far as i can see.
Pretty much spot on I'd say.

Yes it is an exploit, its called training. You cannot use NPC creatures to attack other players. Unless your a creature handler of course. Its listed in the TOS.
Sweet...sounds like I can /report every BH that runs through aggroing creatures that then aggro on me
You cant really report this, all the bh has to do is deny it and its your word vs his. Only way to prove it is if the CSR is actually there.
or u take a screen shot of all the spatial, combat chats and the name of the jedi doing it.
