As the first commando on bria a lawsuit is very possible if you read the box the game was sold in it says on the back "follow your own path with a skill-based advancement system, which accommodates your style of play, whether you become a bounty hunter or a dancer or a merchant or even a jedi." I made commado after 4 days of playing, only to have to wait for 2 weeks for the ore to spawn just to make the weapons, and another 3 months before i could get any heavy weapon xp from the weapons i didnt get the skill based advancement other classes got.

As far as jedi go front of the box states "You may even decide to set yourself on the path to become one of the ancient and mysterious Jedi Knights." For all the time i have played i still have no idea what that path is or even seen a pc jedi for that. But even if they win the lawsuit they will only be able to sue for the amount of cash they spent on the game, attorney fee's and subscription.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

People have sued MMOG companies before. IE: Origin/Ultima Online. And they rightfully lost, as this lawsuit will as well. Everyone knows, what it means to play a MMG, the service changes, for good or worse. It says soon the box, and it says so on the EULA. All you do is waste people's time and money with these stupid frivolous lawsuits.

I thought I would add some information as to why some players would consider a lawsuit. It really is sad to see what has been going on and how you as a player will be treated if you find yourself in a similar situation. Please read the following:
*** At the very least read 1 and 2. ***

1.) Apparent CSR griefing of Boourns. I still haven’t seen a post from him explaining what has happened. Players are saying he got his name back but was he banned from posting in the forums? And what happened to CSR-Shannon-s?
*** note there is any update on this below ***

2.) A very odd way to investigate a suspected dupe. I was so amazed at what this CSR did I transcribed the screenshots and posted it on the second page of the thread so everyone could read. I am just at a lose as to what SOE is doing:

4.) Another possible unjust banning: (locked)

Those are just some examples of the lack of power a player has in this game. Anything and everything that you accomplish in this game can be taken away in a second without warning and without recourse or reimbursement. (If you don't believe me, next time you lose an item, or worse a house because of a bug, send in a CSR ticket and see what they tell you) If you can't get help through the normal channels and try to make it public (on a private forum) as a last resort, you are threatened and/or suspended and/or possibly banned from further posting. It does not surprise me to see players threatening a lawsuit. Maybe it will be a wake up call for SOE to treat customers as customers.

When a CSR can ban, suspend, change a players name and do just about anything to a players character or their account I think that falls under the heading of game development and discussion. I can not believe how a CSR can instantly alter a players account without even giving the player a chance to dispute the charge. I can put up with bugs and boredom but when you have to fight the database and CSRs over every issue; that is a game killer.
In my opinion SOE is pushing the boundaries as to what is legal and what is not.

This thread will be locked for one reason or another, just make sure to save pages offline and post links to locked threads so everyone has a chance to see what happens when you encounter a problem in the game.

Simply amazing.

SOE can do what they want with our accounts and characters. Legally, they own every bit of data that we play with. This isn't real life where we have a Bill of Rights, that guarntees us things like Freedom of Speech, or Search withouta Warrant. It's a private game, and SOE can do what they want with it. As long as they don't take information outside the realm of the game.

So what you're saying is then you would not complain or be upset if they suddenly ban your account, and claim you were duping? Even though you know you weren't?

Come on people, this is supposed to be a game. We pay to play, customer service isn't a luxury its a necessity in todays marketplace. If there are problems with a product that someone is paying mony to use no business has the right to say "too bad, thems the breaks"

My response to this law suit is: GET A LIFE, ( i know for most of us SWG is our life). What i mean is its a game enjoy what you have and play it for the fun.

If you start taking it seriously next thing you know people will start running around shooting people and sueing SoE, saying that its buggy systems caused people to go insane with rage??????

(THIS IS SARCASM PLEASE DON'T SUE ME)

Think about it this way, if these people win this law suit they are just making SWG and all online games that SoE makesworse. If they have to pay out money for a settlement or whatever, what do you think they are going to do, they are going to have to lay off programmers and with less programmers all those bugs we hate are not going to be fixed as quickly and advancing the story line is going to take longer.(this includes the FS slot)

COME ON YOU ARE ONLY MAKING THINGS WORSE, ENJOY THE GAME ALREADY

I would find out why I was banned, but in the end, I could not legally make them allow me to countinue playing. They most likely reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. The thing is, they wouldn't just "ban" someone out of the blue, for no reason. They have the tools to record duping, and find the culprit, and will most likely follow the suspect further to see what they do before officially banning them.

They might as well have put you can ride animals on the back of the box...

The Box made no such promise. If you interpreted it that way, then that's your fault, not SOEs.

They said you could be Jedi...but the code was just added yesterday to the TC. They might as well said you can ride animals, as that will be added soon too.

Also that big picture on the back of the box with vader using the force on someone..as if that's in game.

They said you could be a jedi eventually. On the box, there was no indication that you could become FS as soon as you make your character. AND, on the boards, the Devs said, at least 3 months for people to make it to FS. They did not lie. Whether the code for Jedis were there or not is irrelevant, since people have to go through the process of unlocking it before. Why have the code, if no one uses it?

It's silly to infer that the picture of vader means that the force is available to PCs. Vader is an NPC which of course, Players can't be.
