Thread: Weapon Speed question
I'm not doubting you guys. But I'm a skeptical person. Where did the devs post these formulas? Can you send a link to it? Those equations look legit, but I would like to have an offical posting or it's just speculations for me.

Maybe because I am not a math person, but if you could get your weapon under 1.0s wouldn't the rate in which you fire your specials go faster?
to clarify: i know there is a 1s cap for auto attack, but with specials taking 3x as long (from earlier post) would not fater still be better to rattle of eye shot, bleed, torso, etc?
It's better up to the point that your specials hit that cap, which if the special's delay mods are 2 or less, that sweet spot is a 2.5spd gun.
(2.5 * 2) - (2.5 * 2) * (80/100) = X
5 - 5 * .8 = X
5 - 4 = X
X = 1
isn't it for every 10 weapon speed you gain an actual .1 second to yer speed?
So a 2.0 spd weapon with a 10 weapon speed mod would net you a 1.9 spd weapon.
at 100 that would bring your weapon to 1spd.
Time stamp your logs to see these results. BH see the most effect because they get the most speed mods. But a bh/pistoleer with +100 or more in pistol can shoot stopping shot every 1 seconds. Which is silly because fanshot should be better but its not.
I posted a thread on this issue in the SWG discussion forum, I think +1 to speed should give you half the benefit it does now. That would not nerf any single class it would be a gamewide balance change that would make speed on weapons and special moves mean something again.

The problem is that with the speed system currently you can get your rate of fire to 0. It doesnt matter how big the delay fire is, 3 times 0 is 0. Then you shoot 1 per second. With +97 skill you are getting it down so close to 0 that multiply it by 10 and you're still under 1 second.
They need to change the formula so it is:
(weaponDelay*specialDelay) - ((weaponDelay*specialDelay)*(weaponSpeedSkill/200))
That's all that needs to change and weapon speed would mean something again for end game chars, and it would balance pve a little better.

this is exactly right.. and exactly why master riflemen are so deadly... a Master Rifleman has +95 speed, meaning that T21 with the ungodly sounding 8.0 speed is just another 1s cap attack.. at huge damage and av. with +95 speed, he could be using an 20.0 speed gun, and shoot at the cap (with normal attacks). itsounds crazy, but it's true.
Skorn, it depends on how much +pistol speed you have. BH pistol 4 gives +80 pistol speed, and you would never need a gun faster than 2.5spd with the bh pistol specials to fire 1 shot every second.

Devir, that's not right. Every +10 weapon speed reduces the firing delay by 10%, that's why at +100 (100% reduction), you'll hit the 1 second cap no matter what gun/special. A 2.0spd weapon with +10 weapon speed is actually going to fire at 1.8spd for normal shots, and specials will depend on the delay mod.
The formula for that with no specials is 2 - 2 * .1 = 1.8
And yes, this formula is screwy, but that doesn't suprise me.
However each special attack has a differant delay that is affected by the 4.0 speed. So if I had faster than 4.0 I would still be capped at 1.0 seconds every normal shot but on special shots it would be faster?

ok so a 4.0 speed carbine at +80 speed skill at BH carbine lvl 4 would be .6 seconds but because the cap I'm firing at every 1.0 seconds.

your math is off, but the idea is right.
4.0 carb at +80 is a base 0.8 attack, not 0.6. and, the special attack delay is based off that adjusted number, which is based of your skill (+80) and the carb speed (4.0).
so, short version-- in this case regular shot is at cap.. specials not. Faster carb means regular shot still at cap, but specials faster.
