Thread: How to defeat the god-like boss marks

To defeat these marks.

Use a PSG, bodyshot and specials constantly.

They only use energy damage at range so keep them there and you will go from taking 5-600pts to approximately 1-200.
Rotate your PSGs, just keep enough action for a KD Recovery and you will take down the mark in approx 5mins tops.
You dont even need buffs,

I use Vasarian brandy. Thats it, and maybe a synthsteak if I have to.
My template is MBH, Mrifles, Pistol 0003, and Medic 0020.
Even with as little medic as that is, these marks arent a problem. Just a little timesink..
Hope this helps.

I had my first "god-like" boss mark yesterday, and was finally able to take him down after 2 trips to the cloner...

My template: MBH/MCH with medic xx2x. I have a nice elite carbine with capped SAC and damage, many carbine mods but I was still wearing my crappy armor with so-so stats.

My strategy was to send my level 70 razor cat first, along with my probot droid, to start hitting the mark. I would kite from afar, spamming head shot and confusion shot (or whatever it is), and regular ranged shots, trying not to outdamage my pets not to get aggroed. I drank some of the pyrollium-whatever stuff that boost ranged accuracy, and ate some pikatta pie before I engaged. I made sure I would drink another ranged accuracy enhancer whenever the previous one would dissolve. I kept firing like that, while healing my pets too, until 50% of the mark's HAM was gone, then for some reason he started shooting at me. That's when I absorbed some breath of heaven and vagnerian canape to boost my stats (and mostly my mind).

From then on, I kept spamming him with my stronger shots, alternating between knockdown, advanced critical shot and torso shot, using duelist stance all the while, absorbing some synthsteack twice and alternating between using the bacta shot skill and my stimpack D's (I absorbed some ruby bliel to improve the stimpack roundtime).

After about 12mn of intense fight, I was finally able to take him down, and got some decent loot from him. There was one slicing component, a BH schematic and a set of casings... better than my regular loot!

That's awesome, Markolo. Really cool =)

I also noticed better loots on these guys, but I'm holding my opinion right now... it may just be coincidence since I have had a couple that didn't provide really good stuff. However, the other marks were really good loot. Hmmm..

BH's are not supposed to need healers to help them take down a mark

do I need to say this again?

BH's are not supposed to need healers to help them take down a mark

If we need 2 people to take down a mark, then allow more then one person to take them. Don't give me this huff that I can not fight them unless I take the CM/Doc profession. I refuse to take any medic profession. Using stims should be more then enough, but they went and made the boss marks impossible for a Master BH. If MDEF jedi's go down easier then boss marks, that is a problem.

I refuse to take up medic professions, I am no bandwagon player.

I guess I have to say it again:

Iagree with your opinion, but this thread isn't about that argument - it's simply my attempt to let others know how to go about it despite the game mechanic / template limitations. I know some people will not ever be able to take them down, but I don't want to get into the argument of why they won't.

For these type of boss marks (I am master BH, master Carb, CM 4000

I usually am never buffed by docs but i load up on foods: I use vercupti and clujo swirls (they stack), thundercloud, crispic and citros snow cake (important for the heals) I use duelist stance (not macro'd) and I have an action pup on my weapon. I just sit there and pound away, no kiting etc. Oh yeah and Booster Blue too.

Sometimes when i think of it, before I go in, i will whip out my med droid, but usually i get so excited seeing one of these that i just food buff and attack. My plan of attack is pretty simple, I always make sure the mark is bleeding, then I just alternate between critical shot and leg shot (specials). This will slowly drain his health. I will also use charging shot to kd whenever I can. When my action gets low, i just used ranged shot till it gets to half then use the specials again. I just repeat this process. I use comp armor that is not AB sliced, but it does take a beating. I have realized that specials are needed badly due to their unearthly ability to regen health. I never worry about their action or mind bars anyway.

I have yet to lose to one of these guys, and I do wish i could get more of them (however, I do not seem to get the good loot from them lately). Estimated time to defeat between 5-15 minutes.

I hope that helped anyone.

Greetings brothers and sisters-

I've noticed a lot of concern with the god-like boss mobs and their almost-invincibility. I would like to post my observations and my experiences on how to actually defeat them. Let me make things clear right away. I'm talking about the 35k+ boss mobs that have insane regen. I will admit there are many boss mobs that seem like they are impossible, but don't actually qualify for the insane or god-like tag. Again, I am only talking about the really really vicious beasts out there. Also, I'm talking about my experiences. I'm sure others have different techniques, but I can't talk for them... I only know what I know.

History: My template is MBH/MCM/Pistol xxx3 with some FS thrown in. I have defeated two of these guys solo, and half a dozen others with backup. I now use a healer to assist me (she is CL 58), just so I don't tear up my bank account as bad (I don't use sliced armor when there's a healer). Also, this is not a bragging thread. Seriously. I have no rightto brag. These guys are tough and have owned me going solo far more than I have owned them. There is no shame in getting owned - only in giving up.

Here's what I have learned:

1) Mind is your most important stat. This means:

  • Your heals must be at their most efficient. Get a med droid so you can heal for more, less often

  • Stims are your friends. Do anything to save that precious blue bar

  • Your foods should help you conserve / increase / regenerate your mind.

2) You have to use DoTs

  • Their regen is just too fast - you have to have something that will slow it down. Even MCM DoTs won't keep them from regenerating health, but if I didn't use them, I'd never win

3) Your armor has to be top-notch

  • You need high ratings on your armor

  • You need AB - even if you kite, they will catch up to you and AB you... prepare for it

  • NOTE: I use kinetic armor (composite) and just go toe-to-toe with them. Since I know they will pound on me, I just plan for it. I tried kiting with high energy resist, but when they started melee-smacking me, it hurt too much and I broke rule #1 - I wasted too much Mind.

4) Specials are not your friend

  • These guys take a while, so don't burn up your action bar.

  • Use specials wisely. Example: when the AB, knock them down, or root then run away. Only use specials when it will save your most important asset - your Mind

5) Elemental damage FTW

  • They have really good armor, but it seems elemental damage squeaks in like it's supposed to. I use a slug-thrower with 170 elemental damage which hits decently against these guys. I found kinetic works better than energy attacks as well.

  • Regardless, make sure your weapon does a lot of damage quickly without the need to spam specials.

6) Accuracy vs. Defense

  • These stats have never been more important.

  • These guys flurry, and will force you to miss (another reason not to spam specials). You will miss a lot even when they aren't in flurry mode. Get your accuracy up, or you will be healing longer (violating rule #1)

  • Defense. Get your defense up, because they hit close to max damage if you don't. That will make you heal more often (again, violating rule #1)

7) Buffs are critical...

  • ...but make sure you do everything in your power to make sure mind regen and pool are as big as you can get them.

That's what I know. Also, if anyone decides they want to reply with how uber they are, and how much I suck if I can't take them down in under 5 minutes, then I will just bow to your uberness and admit I suck. I don't care. BUT, I hope that this provides some information that will help at least one person defeat these guys.

Can you get help from other players when hunting these npc bh marks?

i have fought 2 of these since pub-24. they were both doing around 700-900 dmg per hit before armor. neither of them ever got my health or mind below 50%. The only issue i had was that snare has absolutely no effect on them. I swear they were out running me when they were snared and i wasn't lol.

Yes you can get help in missions but only by healers, that is pretty common now from what I hear. People paying healers to go with them on BH missions.

But with the right strategy, you shouldn't need them.

I had my second boss mark today and defeated him with no problem.

A couple of differences with the mark I previously had (see previous post). This one had 'only' 31k HAM, but still a really good regen rate. I was also wearing my newly acquired energy-layered battle armor, and using a 2.3k energy PSG instead of the 1.2k I was using before (thanks Poti for this wonderful equipment). That made a huge difference in the outcome and duration of the fight

I started bythrowing out my level 70 cat at him, and pulled my R3 healing droid next to me. I also absorbed pikatta pie (which lasts long enough that you don't have to worry about the duration of the fight) and the drink that givesa bonus to ranged defense (+99). That lasts around 22mn, so once again, I can take it early and not worry about it dissolving in the middle of the fight.

I also started kiting him with low-damage shots, butI couldn't seem to drop his HAM any lower than 29k. If I stopped firing to heal my pet, his regen rate would outpace the level of damage caused by my pet. That's when I threw my droid at him too, and kept firing; I did slightly more damage to him then, but it was still not significant. So I decided to go at it full speed. I absorbed the drink that gives about +200 ranged accuracy bonus, as well as some breath of heaven and vagnarian canape to boost my HAM and fired some advanced critical shots and torso shots, as well as some knockdowns, all the while making sure my duelist stance was on.

I dropped him within 4 minutes, while using the bacta shot skill four times. I was never threatened by low health or mind. My armor, food buffs and duelist stance would protect me well enough that whenever I had to heal, I would only require one bacta shot to get back up to 100% health and never found myself behind in terms of healing rounds. My new armor made the difference, and it feels great to dictate the outcome on a fight without the feeling of having some luck at one point nor having to burst run to recover. I have yet to fight a 35k HAM in my new equipment, but from the looks of my fight with this one, it should be much easier now than before.
