to top it off, I could have fun with my jedi.
I love the idea, but I think what they'll probably do is add jedi quests with a bonus life as a reward.
I agree that your idea has much more merit, both in game continuity and in appeal/involvement, but I fear it'll be much longer to code and so won't be implemented. 
Still, its worth bringing up until were told NO. hehe

I think something is going to have to be done with the current system. Or else you will never see Jedi in the GCW. And yes jedi will pvp. But only if they have to and not want to. No one wants to spend 4 plus months of grinding endlessly only to have it taken away with bugs that are present in the game today. They do not need to be listed atgain they are all over this forum.
This post needs to get the devs attentiion and have some serious thought put into. Or at the very least have a dev post as to why and why not this will or not work. And I mean a dev post as to why. Someone that has some input that represents sony. Not some 15 year old BH flaming us live with it.
SOE has stated in many interviews that the player jedi are very happy with the current system. I as one am not. I know more than a few jedi in the game also. And funny thing is. I dont know any that are happy with it. If being able to run around with a Light Saber and being able to do some neat things out of your hand is all that jedi get. That should be posted by a dev. If they are not suppose to be a part of the war in any way shape or fashion. Than that also needs to be addressed. You start out as a Rebel than you make your decision at Jedi App as to whice road you want to make. What is the point of it. If we will nerver participate in the war.

Good idea, but it could be more simple. Just let Jedis regain lost lives through quests, and limit the number of quests that can be done over a month. So you get to PvP, but there is a cap to it.
But what would stop all the BHs camping the quest locations? 
I posted a similar idea a few weeks ago regarding earning extra lives. It recieved a lot of criticism, some of which is merited.
The idea iproposed above struck me the other night, and the more I thought about it, the more it became apparent that it would be fun for EVERYONE. Not just the Jedi or the Bounty Hunters.
I hope more people comment on this idea, as it really gets me excited about being a Jedi again, if ideas like this are even considered an option.
It would at the least make balancing the game eaiser, and give Jedi a little more cushion for error or mishap due to technical difficulties or bugs.

worth thinking about for sure, i have to say i've seen some really good ideas floating around about making jedi work i hope they listen to some of them
i'll be reading a thread and post ya, wow, that sounds great, then after i post theres even a better idea
i'm fairly......................................ummmm, ..........................pessimistic , but i can hope that the dev's actually listen to their player base at some point
