Thread: food for thought

I doubt it. You'd probably want to carry one anyway (even if only a training saber). But there's no reason that you can't just put all your skill points into just Force skills. Not all Jedi were proficient with a Lightsaber. Many spent their time meditating, studying, teaching, and applying the Force in a multitude of ways to help others.

An example might be the Jedi Master (can't recall the name off-hand) that Jango Fett shot in Episode 2. Any Jedi proficient with a Lightsaber could have deflected those shots, yet this Jedi Master (yes MASTER) was shot down quite quickly.

Again, I'd suggest carrying a saber if only because it is symbolic of Jedi, but there is no reason why you MUST use one.

Was soloing Rontos without buffs, armor, or a lightsaber on TC2, just wish I could finish allocating boxes, I only have Force Throw 1 as my offense...oh, and Master Defense is incredible...

You could try to build a type of "support" Jedi. For a Light Jedi perhaps Force Enhance, Force Healing, and Force Defense. You wouldn't be an active combatant, but would make a lot of use out of healing others, using transferForce, and things of that nature. During combat you could also aid your friends by draining the Force power of your enemies. It would be difficult to play such a character, since you'd be easy prey while alone, but you could be a very valuable teamate.

I'm not sure an "all Force" template would work for Dark Jedi for two reasons: 1. In the ranking system they'll rely much more on PvP combat than a Light Jedi would, and 2. Dark Jedi aren't really a "support" character (but that's more of an RP reason than a technical/gameplay reason).

In any case a Lightsaber would make leveling much easier.

I'm not saying to change anything with the sabers, but here's some stuff on sabers.

Sabers are the ultimate weapons. Armor can't hinder the blade as it slices or pierces. No flesh, matieral, or bone can block or deflect the blade. (That I know of.)

With that being known, in Starwars episode II when obi-wan and annikan are in the arena, Obi-wan takes out acreature in 4 swings of his lightsaber. The first swing chopped off a front main leg. ( which the creature usedfor balancing and attacking) .Then he chopped the other front main leg of the creature. He sliced at its face ( camera angle didn't show the damage) Then finally he did a mercy blow to end the creatures life.

Jango Fett was killed in one swing of a lightsaber.

Near the end of episode II, Obi-wan was incapped with two (minor) hits from duku's lightsaber. Annikan was incapped with one hit.

Now this is a game so there would be balancing issues if lightsabers were as powerful as they should be. But there's the glory of lightsabers.

I wouldn't call that a mercy blow. He hit that Ackley in a non vital spot and left the saber there for a moment. Basically he coocked the poor thing like Maul did to Quigon in episode 1

Obi' is a basitch!

With Obi-wan being a light jedi, I don't think he would leave the Ackley there to suffer. Plus, there's no way to tell if that was a vital spot. Nobody really knows where the vital organs are.

SWG and introduced quest to get good crystals to improve on our saber dmg. Do you think they should make a quest to get saber hilts? Example: Mauls hilt: increased saber DMG stats

Kenobi's Hilt: increased DPS.

Just brain storming (and man it hurts)

I have a lot of jedi in my guild and we mes around dueling now and again. I was master rifleman with speed and accuracy tapes and good guns. I would rarely get a shot though lightsaber block when we would fight. I have since dropped rifle for master carbineer and from about mid way though carbine I noticed more shots getting though. At first I hought it was a fluke, but........For example, with rifle I'd get say 1 in 8-10 through, with a carbine its more like 1 in 4-5. I can actually Kd them too.

Anyone done serious testing on this? /ponder

What was their block mod?

Does not mean much if their block is +25 instead of +85.

Yeah if these Jedi are progressing towards Knight, then they will get hit more often. A noob Jedi with Melee Defense Stacking is harder to hit than a Jedi Knight.....if both have about equal Lightsaber skills.....
