Thread: Could this be considered harassment?
No CSR, not even the dumbest one, would waste his time with a harassment report like this. Why? Because, beleive it or not, SWG is a "free country". You can do whatever you want as long as it doesn't break the Terms of Use... and following a group around is not listed anywhere in the terms of use.
The only people who make this disruptful are the members of the group itself. They're the ones who are choosing not to continue with what they were doing. You were just sitting there, doing absalutely nothing. Not kill stealing, not talking trash, just sitting there. If you were trying to outdamage there kills, overspawning a lair and flooding the group with MOBs, or anything like that, they'd have a good arguement.
You weren't stopping the group from doing anything. You weren't stopping the Jedi from doing anything. The Jedi could have came out and gone about his merry way, but he chose not to. Whether or not you have a mission on him doesn't matter.
But anyways, Don't worry about it. No matter what anyone says, following someone is not going to get you banned... it won't even win you a warning or probation. For all the CSR knows, you could have been following the group, waiting for the Jedi to come back... it only seems logical you stick with the group he was grinding with.

About the DB: Are you sure his guildie DB'ed and not a MOB? I thought that was supposed to be impossible now...
I was wondering the same thing. Unless either the BH or Jedi can /duel someone else in the middle of a fight?
This isn't harassment at all. It's called "the title of the first tree in BH." ![]()
Anyway, Jedi will say ANYTHING is harassment to get you to leave. I had a conversation like this through /tells with a Jedi a while ago (after he exploited the BH TEF and ran into his house):
Jedi: go away
Me: No!
Jedi: you can't talk to me if you're hunting me, that's harassment, I'm going to report you
After he exploited the BH TEF and sent a tell to me first, mind you.
They'll say anything and everything to get you to leave.

Yes, it is harassment....and if you do it enough and are reported, you will get a visit from a grumpy CSR.
it all goes to intent....by not attacking, but staying in sight, and actively following, your making it clear that your goal is to abuse the system.
Basicly...you have to ask yourself...if this was a pen and paper game, like D&D and you were siting accross the table from your opponent, with the dungeon master handling the mechanics....would you still do this? this analogy works for anything that would make you ask "Could this be considered harassment?"...or anything that would make you ask "Could this be considered an exploit?"
here are some of the consequences of been a douche:
Players quit because they don’t like the negative experience
New players don’t join because they don’t want the hassle
Ethically ambivalent players get expelled (they wouldn’t have cheated or griefed if they knew they would get caught, and since they saw someone else get away with it...).
Increased customer service support costs to deal with complaints, real and perceived
Increased in-game customer service costs
Increased technical support costs to identify threats
Increased technical support costs to counter threats
Increased technical support costs to identify & remove malicious players
you can argue it all you want....but the truth of the matter is, stalking is the art of seeing without being seen...which is quite different then following a mark around, waiting for the oppurtunity to one hit him while in plain view, hiding behind a one way tef. again...in the pen and paper face to face game, this would be unacceptable, and If you do it enough, and get reported, you will face the wraith of our "dungeon masters" the CSR's....it's all about intent...and it is an abuse of the system. I know this personally as I had a run in with a BH who did the same thing....it wasn't difficult to understand he was there for my mission,so after about40 minutes of killing mobs, moving from mission to mission, I asked him "so you gonna attack?" and he replied "eventually, but it's my choice as to when, I'm gonna hit you when your weak or wait for another BH to show if I need to" so.....I filed a ticket and a report...and continued about my buisness...about 2 hours later a CSR finally showed up...and at that point I don't know what words were exchanged, however, a week later I got a tell from the BH apologizing, he said he hadn't really thought about itas harassment since the game allowed him to do it, but that he was suspended.
so, take that as you will, but in answer to the OP, yes, and if your gonna do it, it's at your own risk.
telling a jedi to stop whinning is like banging your head against the wall.
your just gonna end up with a headache in the end.

remember the debate on taking the same persons mission over and over (that wasn't harassment?), and the debate over selectively taking low level marks (not griefing?)

Good.. because I have a counter to something you said...
You say it's harrassment to follow the group around.. Well think about it like this... If a jedi got away and was in the group the BH is smart enough to stay with the group and see if the jedi comes back for as long as he wants...
ALSO... The fact that a guildiee DBed him while the jedi was attacked by a BH is basicly an exploit IMHO... I would never use it because it wouldn't be fair to the BH that just got me. Since it's a glitch in the system (Don't give me anything about Devs saying it's not.. It's low, dirty, and a way for BHs not to get payment.. That's what I consider an exploit) that should be a suspendable offense right there.. and if any BH mark i get does that it will be a /report...
And CSR's are right how much of the time?
the purpose of following people around to annoy them makes it harassment.
