Yeah, thus I said some pistols :-)

We make up for it with more damage multipliers on our specials, but it can get close. Especially with the ranged cyber arms, one of those pistols, and a pistols/rifles mastery. Then the specials cross over.

Seriously, any non Defender Jedi go duel a pistoleer that spams disarming shot and you will see what I am talking about. Metophorically speaking, breaking the chain is like trying to stand up from a KD/dizzy pre CU.




I have same template as you, so i feel your pain of no natural defense...but i supplement with food.


I have a friend in game now who is MBH/Mpistols....Ill play around with him a bit and see what happens...Ill post results!

I will gladly accept a weakness of this magnitude if the DEV's give me an ability with relative strength to my weakness. Of course I can't have that because I must take Defender. Silly me.

Disamring shot aside, the strengths and weaknesses of having defence currently do not balance out with advantages gained by having no defence and investing skill points elsewhere.

hmmm i dont even come close to being able to outdamage rifles ... i think you are confusing some uber rare weps with our abilities ....

i have a feeling some pistols after the cu were respecced to godly stats .... i have heard of pistols with max damage over 1000 and base dps of 500 to 600 ... if you see a guy using this ... of course his damage will get within range of rifleman .. but those pistols are rare .. and chances are hes been playing a year or two and ammassed the $$ nessecary to buy such a weapon .. while we who didnt have as much time to play .. are using junk ( like my pistols) ..

even though i owned this game since august 2004... due to real life issues i only have maby 4 months logged into it ...( not accumulated mind you ... i mean 4 months where i would log on at certain hours)

There seems to be a misunderstanding here. The damage caused from disarming shot was minimal, around 100 points or so. while I have force I can heal that no problem, however my Force is not unlimited. The problem was that I simply got too few opportunities/breaks from the effect of the special to do anything significant to him. Its like root currently, it can be chained so that you can't move and this is game breaking for melee professions.

With the way the Jedi disciplines are sturctured, you have to chose your abilities and skills. With my build, I have no defence, resulting in hardly any missed shots and no damage mitigation. Normal professions get defence and mitigation, aswell as their offence all in one tree. What this means is that versus players who have defence and damage mitigation, disarming shot simply isn't an issue because the damage is significantly lower than it was agains't me and the fact that you miss more, means you have more opportunities to attack back.

I could easily avoid this situation by picking up Defender. However, what is the point of having all these skills to choose from if we all need to pickup the same skills to avoid overpowering situations such as this.

Disarming shot is only this big an issue if you do not have defence and mitigation. The alternative to doing somehting about disarming shot, because as people are saying, it is not overpowered to them (this is because of defece and mitigation), is to give my template some kind of ability that is proportionalte useful to my major weakness versus stopping shot. Currently I have no such ability and therefore I am not balanced for this scenario.




Ok, I think we've got the picture now. You don't need to reply to every single post with the same information. You are concerned that disarming shot causes (for you) an unacceptable advantage over you. You can't do anything whilst disarmed apart from heal. What most people are discussing here is that there are other options open to you, and that this does not require a waving of the nerf bat. So please stop replying to each post 'you don't understand, I don't mean that' when in fact we know exactly what you mean. Stop just reading, and start learning

1)Use your foods. Dont be a machine who can only do one thing. Carry a variety of foods. In this situation use block, dodge, and damage mitigation foods. Use a ranged defense drink. If you have fill left pop a crispic so you know your hits will land.


2) Use your terrain and line of sight. A ranged player cant hit you if youre behind a tree.


3) Blind them. Reduces their accuracy so they have a harder time landing.


4) KD. Cant hit you from on their arse.


5) Learn to fight with tactics in game instead of crying for nerfs on forums

I agree, there are alternatives to the situation. I feel that with my template, choosing no defence to invest skill points elsewhere does not make up for the lack of defence when it should. However I have no idea how this could be done because as soon as I ask for soemthing powerful, everyone will again jump on my back telling me a have an unfair advantage.

Seems you cannot win around here, no matter what you suggest, you get flamed to hell.

Only if you refuse to accept other people alternatives and insist, against all common sense, that you are entitled to easily be right no matter what.

This isn't flaming. It's saying that it is balanced. If you want to be able to fight it a bit better, go MDef. I have the same problem - I want a root, but can't because I'm a rifleman. So I can either respec to pistoleer (or some of it) or learn to get around without it. Which I've done. You can either move to MDef, or learn to get around without the defences. We're offering suggestions of how to get round it, that is all
