Thanks Just G. These changes should really make BH's feared again. I sense your frustration with our perceived impatience. But you have to remember we have had problems for a very very long time. I've been a BH so long i can't remember. I was grinding BH before there was evena Jedi in the game and I can tell you that many of these problems have existed since way before then. I think what frustrates BH's is that the relativly small jedi population tend to get all the devs attention and our needs and concerns are neglected. I don't really understand why this is. In the stratagy guide to SWG it states that BH's are the most dangerous and well paid of the professions. Neither of these apply right now to us. Hopefully the changes you are making will make a differance. We really are not whiners, just a little frustrated. I don't know if you read these replies but know this---The entire BH community appreciates the hard work of you and Tanks in addressing these issues.

I'm not so sure this is gonna be a good thing in the long run. I'm very nervous and cautious about this.


I've read somewhere that Thunderheart already thinks we are overpowered and this is just gonna give him more fuel.


I really didn't mind mastering scout when I was under the impression that at some day we MAY get traps to use against humanoids. Now granted, this still could happen, but it just seems to me less likely now.


I get the impression this is just a temporary fix until the combat rebalance and then things are gonna change. For the better or worse - I don't know, since no one has said anything.


I'm in agreement with those that said make MBH stand on its own.


What I'd like to see is better defenses. How hard is it to change variables? Plug in the variables that already exist, in say, Pistoleer? (K, stating for a fact I have no programming skills and have no desire to do so). And for the record, I'm using Pistoleer just as an example.


I'd also like to see better accuracy with the LLC at least. You tell me that I'm gonna police the population and be jedi population control. That statement in itself leads me to believe that MBH is gonna be second only to jedi. Hey! Guess what!?! We're not! Not when we can hit what we're shooting at! And especially against a Jedi, I'd like to hit more than 10%. Basically I'd like to be a threat, at least!


Take out the weapon timer!!! This hurts us more than anyone else! Not gonna rehash what's already been stated before in other posts about this.


Lastly, tell us what's in store for us. I've got this feeling that there's gonna be more than just moving us to high offense/medium defense come the combat rebalance. There are gonna be some more changes that we haven't been told about. And probably won't find out about until too late.


Come on Devs! You've got some big name games about to come out. Can we puh-lease get together a product that can compete?

While BH do need some work still, this has to be one of the biggest mistake I could see from it. The problem lies in the fact that it's not cause BH cost too much skill points. The problem lies in a lot of those that you list have no benefit for people that are BH and working up Master BH. The best thing to do is to allow BH to relie on these skills and carry over to the BH line where it can get improved.


There has been NUMEROUS ideas regarding about allowing Trapping to be allowed on players (something that would make BH very deadly in a 1 on 1 combat). Survival could still be useful if camps had some real use to it, and they really don't other then some minor increase in regeneration, and healing wounds overtime very slowly. Hunting is still valuable, and could be carried over to the bh line where they could actually see the stats of their opponents in pvp. All of these could have some use and make BH very valuable, and make all the points they used very valuable. Instead, you're taking the easy route not trying to implement these and say, okay well we're just going to make it where you don't need these skills.... smart move. How long, about a year later you consider doing this?


This should give you and additional 48 skill points to add to the 33 you had left over for a total of 81 additional point to spend as you please.


This is something that we have been considering for a long time, and wanted to do as part of the CB, but we need you to be as effective as possible against Jedi as soon as possible. This is a start.


Your other issues are known, and in varying stages of development, but we want you to know that things are going to get better. Hopefully rapidly.


This change will be hitting Test Center tomorrow afternoon, and should be Live by Friday.

I have admitted to myself that you and your foolish team of developers will never get the BH professian right. Just as you can't get Jedi right or the rest of the freaking game. Most others can admit this to themselves as well.


Here is a new take on BH:


Get rid of the BH professian by taking it apart and recollecting the trees:


1) Give the LLC to Commandos.

Won't fix the professian but it will be a nice gesture.


2) Give the pistol mods and specials to pistollers.

Will fix the pistoller professian as it is now up to par with the rifle. Right now a pistoller is only good if they combine pistol with BH pistol. The problem with is, is that they are sacrifcing defense to get the same decent specials as a rifleman and comparable speed/accuracy. Now in one tree... We aren't sacrificing anything and can perform up to par.


3) Give the carbine mods and specials to carbineers.

Same as the pistol.


4) Investigation....

Bring a new dimesion to SWG... NPC Guilds. These guilds will allow you to participate in special content. Anyone can join these guilds at any time with any skills. Right away they can get started with the special content and climb the rank ladder. The rank will be open to everyone and won't require any special interaction between players (As where Jedi have limited seats and vote/duel).


The BH guild would let players take bountys as we do now. Once at a high enough rank the BH can get Jedi bountys. The flip side is... If the BH fails at tracking down its target or is slain by the Jedi... The BH looses rank and must climb back up.


And that is just one idea of a guild as there are many other possibilities. You could even take apart the smuggler professian and allow that to be a guild in which players have to smuggle items across planets.


This would add much content to the game and we can even have titles for our guilds and rank.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I strongly disagree with this as a long-term solution. My reasoning:


Bounty hunters used to cost considerably more skillpoints than any other profession, giving them good reason to be the most powerful combat profession in the game besides Jedi. I know that this was NOT achieved, but it may have been given time. Now there is no reason for Bounty Hunters to be more powerful than other professions. Under this system, I believe a Commando should be able to best a bounty hunter in single combat on flat terrain, as the commando has put more points into pure combat. (Of course, the BH could climb hills faster). How are the BHs going to justify being strong enough to come close to Jedi-strength now? With equal skillpoints, you'll (theoretically) have to be equal to other professions (or at least equal to commando), and this will likely lower your strength in relation to Jedi.


In short, the Bounty Hunters should realise that this is NOT an advantage to them. What is needed is an increase in power to meet the expectations set by skillpoints. What you are getting is a decrease in skillpoints to meet the expectations set by power. In other words, Bounty Hunter now has no chance or grounds to become a super-powerful profession which it now should be. You're sacraficing that potential future. I suppose that if this is what BHs want, that is their choice.

Commando and BH contain the most points to master. This can sure help bh by adding tka and other melee to there profession. However, I would urge the DEVS to move the ability to hunt jedi to Master BH only. Otherwise you will have tons of 3000 BH with all type of templates out there causing havok. Hunting Jedi is a BH Perk. Keeping it at 3000 doesnt reward someone for working hard to Master BH. Why should someone get 3 boxes in the profession and get to take advantage of BH greatest perk? Thats not fair to many Master BH out there. And its not very fair to jedi when they are so weak vs melee professions. To invest marksman 1 line of scout and 3 lines of BH to get the ability to hunt jedi is a joke.


Devs consider what you are doing. Its a slap in the face to Master BH to leave Hunting Jedi at 3000 BH.
