Thread: Why are we getting a mission revamp and the smugglers are getting squat?
First....thank you for your hard work and making npc BH missions worth while. I am neither BH nor Smuggler so I am quite un-biassed....but please, please let the smugglers smuggle, It really is sad to go to the smuggler forums. I would gladly give up all of my veteran rewards, including the the 2 year holograms just to see the Smugglers get what they have been promised and waiting for for 2 years. Anyone who feels the same repost and sign your in-game name below mine. Thanks for your time.

I think it's a sad state of affairs that everything, in the end, is reduced to "nerf and love". Either someone got nerfed or somebody got love. That's the only way that people seem to talk about changes to the game. All this "my profession is more nerfed than yours" stuff is silly, in the end. Every profession needs tweaks and balances. BH and Jedi get a disproportionate amount it's true...but then again, the people who are Jedi or BH (or are aspiring to be one of the two) are also disproportionate to those who don't want to be Jedi or BH. It makes sense. This whole process of complaining about who did or did not get love and who got nerfed worse recently solves nothing, and has no bearing on this one change.
It boils down to this: this is a good change for a profession, and it has no negative impact onany other aspect of the game. Thus, it is a step forward for thegame as a whole. All this worrying about individual professions isn't productive. I'm a Ranger. I've been a Ranger sinceSeptember 2003. I know all about not getting love.and as concerned as I am for my profession, I'd rathersee changes that make the game as a whole better, rather than see them make Ranger uber.We ALL play this game. and if the game is better, it attracts more people and it survives longer. Since I want to keep playing, I'm hoping they make the game good as a whole. This is a step in that direction.
Focusing only on one profession rather than the state of the game as a whole issilly. Most people (certainly not all) who go "why did you nerf this profession" or "why aren'tyou working on that profession?"have a vested interest. That selfishness keeps us all stagnant. Worry about the game as a whole. This change is good for BH, and good for the game as a whole. Thank you very much Blixtev.
well said Phenix,
and yeah...rangers need fixed too...most expensive profession in the game as far as skill points are concerned, far from fair when you look at sp requirements of the others, and you don't get a whole heck of alot for those pts...yall have more rights to be angry than anyone else, yet still manage to stay cool...here's hoping for another look at rangers.
Your sig says enough

Why are we getting a mission revamp and the smugglers are getting squat?because smugglers have last ditch and are unwilling to give it up.the BH's are a little different, when the subject of the changes to the missions came up, several reasonable voices chimed in after recognizing the need for change....those that were countering the arguement, for the most part, ended up being proof that the system needed to change.when smugglers are willing to give up 1hit incaps (which should be pretty soon) they'll get the code that is already in development
your rediculous statement in its entirety. Hard to be someone would be so biased they wouldnt see how rediculous a statement that essentially says 'for smugglers to get something that actually directly relates to their stated profession, you need to give up another useful thing you have that I consider imbalanced' is.
and I am saying thats as REDICULOUS as saying 'Jedi shouldnt get to use their lightsabers (something just as directly relating to THEIR profession) until they FIRST give up their second character slot (something also seen as imbalancing)'.
from the first post you immeidately started off trying to undermine any revamp of any profession whose skill subset MIGHT affect yours.
I'm not the only one who considers it unbalanced, anyone who has ever been a victum of a ST /slap; /lastditch would agree....of any profession....I personally have never been killed by a last ditch. Incapped once, killed as a result, no.spelling aside, 1 hit incaps are not directly related to smugglers, or any profession, and even if they were, your really reaching for comparisons, and doing a poor job at that.and as to your last line....where? your making that up. I'm all for the smuggler revamp, the truth remains, you can't have your profession fixed and keep a broken skill that is only useful when abused. ie useful only when used in ways other than intended. nothing to do with either of my characters, the BH or the Jedi
When has a SMUGGLER ever used last ditch and not been killed in pvp? Last ditch is exactly that.. a last ditch. You are almost certainly going to die and you might take out one of the other guys with you. You need to call a duck a duck and be honest here. Was it really a SMUGGLER that did that to you? Where you about to expose his shipment of glitter stim from a pirate station in the rim of kessel? Or was it merely a special attack used by bounty hunters? If its the latter you need to say BH not smuggler because w/o BH they could have never attacked you in the first place for a 1-on-1 pvp. Perhaps you should be more critical of a CU that went to great length to create classes of professions each with strength's and weaknesses only to have it all invalidated the second you combine two professions and stack the skills. The fix isnt moving skills higher in the tree, the fix should have been single mastery because everyone should have kryptonite. In any event its no reason to suggest that smugglers have to lose last ditch to finally get finished from beta. And you must acknowlege that your statement caused a birage of attacks (long before mine) that could be seen as attacking blix when in truth were smugglers defending their need/desire for fixes against what appeared to be another jedi saying 'ignore everyone else till you fix me' (last ditch being a technical jedi fix).
Dont you realize this is the entire CAUSE of all the jedi hate? Any time a profession gets hit with a nerf because it just HAPPENED to be used in the Jedi v. BountyHunter wars, it just pisses everyone off even more. Its either exploited to kill jedi or exploited by jedi to avoid being killed (feign death anyone?). In the end its everyone that ISNT a BH hunting jedi or jedi evading a BH that gets punished. There really is 38 other professions besides just BH and Jedi. We'd like to be considered before you guys call for any more nerfs please.

Beyond finished template you have loot, credits, quests, badges and pvp.

I strongly disagree with you there, Seana. When you have done all the quests, got a completed template and got the best weapons you can on your server, all that is left ingame is PvP and the community. Infact wasn't it you the other day on the Corbantis forums, complaining you had nothing to do but PvP?
EEMAN,
if any other profession is getting beat, they don't have an ability to take the other guy with em, I have seen smugglers use last ditch without dieing, in general pvp and in bounty situations...outside of bh missions, in general pvp it is most frequently used after the smuggler is incapped when people are coming in for a deathblow and one of the smugglers allies hits him with an infusion, soon as he pops up he hits last ditch. then is healed and runs into a base to wait out the incap timer.
if you actually reread the thread, which you have not, apparently, you will see that the title of the thread is what drew people in, any attacks prompted by my posts were squarely directed at me, I'm fine with that, but read the nature of those attacks, some more illogical, uncalled for, and much worse than yours and you will see the attitude that is the smuggler professions worst enemy when it comes to getting results, instead of providing soloutions many (although notnearly all)make attacks, and those are remembered.
I don't care what the cause of Jedi hate is...I don't hate any profession...I've mastered all but a few of the crafter classes, entertainer professions and ranger. things don't get nerfed solely based on the Jedi vs BH mechanic....feign death was abused by smugglers...period...last ditch abused by smugglers...period...were it not for shoddy mechanics in the smuggler tree, there would have never been potential for abuse...thats the cold hard truth...and again...its not a nerf if you lose last ditch and gain viability in both pvp and pve, and additional content, the sooner you realize that, the better off you, and your fellow smugglers will be.

Why must it always be a conspiracy theory? It is as simple as I was working on BH/Jedi missions and ran a few NPC missions and went "Wow, these are lame, Why would anyone want to do these?" So I came into work over a weekend and made some new challenging Marks, created some new loot, and re-itemized.
It was as simple as something was lame, I thought I could make it better, andfixed it up in my freetime.
Not everyone is about the PvP game, and even those that are like a bit of respite from it every now and then. Plus withnice new loot on there, who wouldn't want to kill some Marks?
Thanks for giving up your own time blix. it may not look it but it is appreciated. I cant wait to get some of the "new loot"
My only question is, what kind of loot can we expect to get? will it be the standard type of, "locked container, cdef pistol, minor attachment" or will it be good attachments and other possibly sellable items?

This isn't even one of our top 5 issues and its been addressed. This stinks. Smugglers were promised missions about 6 months ago and all they got from there "revamp" was a slicing systems that was changed 3 days before going live.
Jedi are the most hated profession ingame by the majority of professions, because of there constant attention, but recently I noticed alot of hostility towards bounty hunter because of the "attention" we are recieving.
I am beginning to wonder if this is the start of a master plan by SOE to takeaway player hatred from the jedi and place it on the BH's.
If we continue to get things we don't ask for while glaring exploits, bugged ridden professions and broken promises of revamps, many more professions will turn on us.
What really is bugging me though is if the development wants to show us love, why not combat one of our top issues like
- Offline missions showing up in huge numbers on mission terms
- Droids on Kashyyyk not tracking or giving names
- None of our states stick on a regular basis in PvP
All that will happen after this patchis ALL jedi alts and None PvP players will respec to MBH in the hope of looting some pearls or a cash cow, seeing a massive increase in our profession, again making smugglers, squad leaders, rangers, entertainers, etchate us.

I think the point is they should not be until they FIX the game.
In other words, there should be no "content" team until the game is fixed. We all know that this game is in a massive decay right now and the degree of bugs, lag, and brokenessis overwhelming.
Not really sure how if the "programming" team is all that great given the state of the game, so perhaps having 2 seperate teams works on paper, but maybe they need to reassign (or priorize) the "good" programmers to the "FIX IT" team rather then the "Add Multiplayer Vehiclesand DB Timer" team.

Blix,
I've been following your posts over the past several weeks. You do indeed seem genuinely interested in improving the game and helping the community. Right now, perception of SOE by the players in regards to SWG is pretty low. If more of the Devs would express (or simply have) the attitude I highlighted in bold, I think the player community would be a lot happier. It is refreshing to see a Dev admit to seeing something "lame" and just deciding to fix it. The Smuggler Community (and I'm sure others too) is getting the impression that the Dev team doesn't define "lame" the same way we do, and could care less about responding to the feedback we give. Even our own much-heralded GreenMarine pushed the Slicing Revamp yo Live without apparent regard for our feedack, and then disappeared again after being virtually incommunicado for months.
Keep up the good work Blixtev; IMHO you are a ray of sunshine (dare I say hope?) on the forums.
