Thread: Is this an exploit?

Considering the fact that SoE has made it so hard for another BH to tag along from the get go as opposed to happening to bump into a BH who has the same bounty mark and hooking up with him, the fact that SoE has tried to make it as "1vs1" as possible, i don't think they ever intended for a jedi's "friend" to ruin your mission by stepping in and finishing a job nobody but you is supposed to be finishing.

Shady? Hell yeah.

Exploit? Not unless a Dev says so, or something....

Working as intended? I HIGHLY doubt it.

Game is fubar, on my way out the door a second time. Breaks are good.

Hell yes this is an exploit. How could it not be? You're using a bug in one game mechanic (dueling) to bypass the effects of another game mechanic (the BH/Jedi mission system). Why would you need a dev to specifically state this is an exploit? Just read the EULA and use common sense.

Report his cheap ass.

Check out the said jedi's response:

Play your character how you choose, its my 15 bucks a month so I will play as I see fit. The minute the devs or tiggs post that its an exploit I will stop but until then your opinion is well.....your opinion. Also the reason I called you a noob is because your sorry attempt at stalking was pathetic. It was easy to tell you were a BH the way you loaded into Sumgglers Luck and headed straight for my direction immediatly. If I were you I would have gone straight to the mission terminals to make it look like you had a reason to be there. But what do I know? I was only one of the most senior BH's on the server until I became a Jedi a few months back. Just the fact that your whining about this says alot about you. There is a way to collect on me but it just seems like your too lazy to collect. You dont deserve my bounty noob. I have mastered the art of thinking outside the box, If you want to collect on me you will have to do so as well. Or get another Jedi's mission. I have nothihng to prove to you I could care less about being honorable. My only goal is to become finished template, Not fight with you. Your adjenda is not mine.

Oh and another thing. /getvet only proves how long you have been opening your wallet to SOE. Noobness is determined by your skill lvl.

I am a BH that doesnt hide and fights straight up. No other reason than I enjoy it more.

Good! Whether or not it's an exploit is beside the point. It's a cheap, chicken-shyte thing to do, and "rewarding" that Jedi by killing him is a nice way to help the Force regain itsbalance.

I like what Wolf24601said in his response to this thread in the Jedi forum:

Wolf24601 wrote:

How can anyone characterize it as strategy or fair play? These are the two ways I view it:

Role Playing:

"I don't want him to kill me...you deathblow me...put me out of my misery before he does..."

The Friend deathblows you, but the BH gets the money and you lose your force XP.

Since the game mechanics don't work that way, I present case #2:

Exploit:

"I don't want him to kill me...you deathblow me...that way I won't lose any experience since he is clearly going to kill me soon..."

The Friend deathblows, ruining the BH mission and saving you three hours of grinding. [emphasis added]

Everyone calls it an exploit in-game. When I had a BH after me the other day, all my friends started offering to dual with me as a way of helping. They almost got me killed trying to help me...but finally stopped trying when I told them it was between me and the BH.

Wolf

That sort of sums up the way I view it. And I doubt if the so-called "Jedi" in question and their friend was roleplaying with the BH.

As I stated before a Developer really needs to post about this as I read more and more about it. I honestly dont care which way it goes, just a reply so we can stop the bickering.

It's sad but in many online communities there are a select few that basically claim "It's not an exploit if it benefits me"

Just like this Jedi in question. It seems like Jedi have more of a reason to do it and they have more ways of doing it but it's not just them. CHs used to pull out all their pets at map borders, smugglers slicing their own bases and double slicing weapons, BHs used to do it with /duel and now Jedi do it with a lot of other stuff /duel, bridge Los etc. Jedi have more to lose than any class ever so a higher % of them will sploit.

What's really boggling is that this problem has been going on for quite a while, and in my mind all it would take is a simple fix:

  1. Disallow the /duel command on a target with a BH TEF raised. There's absolutely no valid reason for a Jedi to accept a duel request while dealing with a BH. -AND-

  2. Either disallow the /deathblow command from anyone other than the Jedi and the BH -- to each other -- while there's a BH TEF in place. -OR-

  3. The system drops any outstanding duels in place for the BH and the Jedi once a BH TEF is raised.

#1 solves the problem of the chickenshyte "tactic" of a friend initiating a duel after the BH attacks, with finger poised over a hotkeyed DB command.

With #1 in place, either #2or #3solve the problem of the Jedi friend doing a DB, even if they already had a duel going.

Am I the only who sees these as potentially quick and easy fixes?

I tracked my jedi mark and found him hanging out on his speeder. I attacked and missed his speeder which got me a tell from jedi stating "Lol, you noob". Asked him to check /getvet to see who noob is, well anyways, on to what I really want to know. I started to gain the upper hand and had him almost dead when all of a sudden the jedi has a friend walk up next to him. Next thing I know I see the jedi is a corpse. I didnt do the DB.

I told the jedi he used an exploit to get away from me, he responds " this isnt an exploit having a friend db and it wasnt a fair fight anyways because I had no force". Force or no force thats not my problem but having a friend db to avoid a BH db, is this an exploit? or as intended? is this reportable? just curious. Ask many jedi, I am an honourable BH that plays fairly and so I expect the same.

I am a Jedi and I was always under the impression that was exploit seeing as no one was allowed to assist a Jedi who had a Bounty on her or him. You should have reported it.

Well I am new to WS and doing the double click grind... after 2 days I am like wow, this is boring.

Now i donot want to use any 3rd party exploit... So what i did was take a fan and put tie some semi hard ruber to 2 opposite blades. Pluged it it set it on mediam speed... set my mouse up so the new rubber mounts hit the button Low and behold a double clicker for at night.

I told this to a friend and he said I was exploiting?

Is this exploiting... I mean I am not using any 3rd party or messing with the game in anyway?
