Thread: CL 10 Creatures Still too much

In view of the fact that pets were getting nerfed left and right, I tried to keep my creations to under 2k and traded off higher damage for higher HAM.

Unfortunately, all the pets that were invalidated and "fixed" were fixed to the bottom end of that creatures "wild" stats. We are not engineering for the better, there is no "bio" involved. We are merely making clones of wild creatures who are less potent than the "real" thing.

I have decided to use the CL 10 droids as a template for pets. 1400-2000 Health isnt too hard to get with a little work and should be within acceptable limits. the hardest part I have is getting a level 10 pets to do more than 40-50 damage, though the droids can do 140 damage. As long as we can get a level 10 pet to be at least equal to a droid, we should be ok.

Top of the line (as far as I know) probe droid will have 1100HAM, 20% resists (I think there is a bug that makes the resists 40% on the second call but that is not intentional afaik), 160dmg at 0.75 speed, about 0.38 to hit. Top of the line R3 has about 1700HAM, same resists, 130 damage at 1.5 speed, same to hit. Both work out to the same CL.

Now, given those numbers we can roughly calculate that 50% extra HAM on the R3 is 'worth' the probot doing 2.5x the dps of the R3. If we work those ratios into BE pets, taking into account the resists, we get pets along the following lines;

  1. 40-50 damage, 2.2 speed, 0.25 to hit= 2400 HAM @ 0 resists, 3200 HAM at 0 resists if the 40% resist figure on droids is correct.

  2. 110-120 damage, 2.1 speed. 0.3 to hit = 2200 HAM @ 0 resists, 2950 HAM at 0 resists if the 40% resist figure on droids is correct.

  3. 150-160 damage, 2.0 speed. 0.35 to hit = 2000 HAM @ 0 resists, 2700 HAM at 0 resists if the 40% resist figure on droids is correct.

We can reasonably assume that the various disadvantages and advantages for each are expected to cancel out - Droids invulnerable to most state effects and DoTs, but harder to heal wounds on (marginally harder to heal damage as well) and don't have special attacks. So, if you keep BE pets in those parameters they shouldn't have any problems once the system is finally fixed.

One thing to remember is that its not just the CL10 pets that are getting the "invalid" checks, CH bio pets are too.

At the end of the day we shouldn't have to second guess the system, if we make a deed that says x CL, then that should be the end of the story.

In past 'fixes' non ch pets that seemed like they would fall into the above category were also nerfed. The fixes themselves are unreliable.

And you cant put a crafting station or storage unit in a BE pet.

The Part I don't understand is: Someone had a Meeting with Someone Else, who decided that Lvl 10 Pets were able to be made Too High by BE's. To make that Statement, SOMEONE knows what Numbers are "TOO High". Maybe the Dev's DON'T know at the moment how to "FIX" this without making yet another round of "Sweeping Changes"... But Obviously, SOMEONE knows the Figures. Why the Difficulty in Getting an Answer to "What stats are too high" for us BE's?

For "Fixing" the problem, why not make DNA only able to be Combined So many Times? Orset a Range of DNA Levels, that can be combined with a Given Level of DNA? For Example, Say that Lvl 1 DNA can't be combined with DNA higher than Lvl 20, Lvl 2 with Lvl 40 etc... or something like that... To make a High Stat, Low Lvl pet, it seems that you must either Combine Low Lvl DNA with High Lvl DNA, or to Keep "MultiGenerationing" Samples until you get the Stats that you want, at the Lvl you Want.

Maybe I'm Completely Wrong in this approach, but if we're doing Something "Unaceptable" Why the Big Deal on Telling us Just what we're doing wrong? I've read many Posts by Obviously Talented Players, who KNOW how the BE system Works Currently. How about We/They Brainstorm a bit and help the Dev's Out? I'll complain just like the next Guy if something is Wrong, but IF I think I have an Idea that will work, I'll share it... Why don't WE, the Players look at the Current Problems and try to come up with a Solution? The Dev's Might be Talented Code Programmers, but Designing/Implementing the whole BE Profession is something that No Game has done before. There must Be Numerous Variables that must be taken into consideration, in this Profession...

With That in mind,What can we do to Help?

Just My 2 Cents worth....

I think the problem is that in giving us the numbers that are invalid they will also have to give away the formula for making pets which they do not want to do.

Basically I would suggest that no one makes Level 10 pets until they get the problem fixed once and for all.

I think the problem is that in giving us the numbers that are invalid they will also have to give away the formula for making pets which they do not want to do. I don't think it's a strait set of rules, I.E. Any HAM over, and Attack over, any to hit over, any specials over. I think it's more in line with a formula they run on all the stats of the creature, and if that number goes over a certain level then it's invalid. For instance... A creature with 6k/5k/4k HAM and NO resists might be ok, but the same HAM with 20% resists may not be ok. Or a creature wityh 120-200 damage might be OK if the HAM is 1000/900/500. But to tell us what's not ok would mean giving that formula up and I don't think they are willing. I think they'd rather see people pissed off at Bio-Engineers then give up their Area-51 top secret BE formula. I mean hell, the whole world might collapse in a big screaming ball of Kaadu foder if it ever got out.

To be honest I think the changing of the BE code coinsided very well with all the work Sumo did on figuring that formula out. I can see them sitting around, "Well Joe, they are figuring it out, time to change it." I don't think they want us to have BE calculators, and I can understand that. I wouldn't want some BE that's just got master making creatures as well as someone that's been a BE for 6 months.

So, anyway... I would suggest that no one makes Level 10 pets until they get the problem fixed once and for all.

Currently to make 10's I just use the old voritor/huurton recipe and I getresults of 3100/2900/800 HAM. I then experiment with the mind till I get about 2k. I have been giving these to all my guildies that refuse to become regular CH's. They are all quite happy with these as non-ch pets. I'm thinking they are either legal pets or haven't been tagged as mutants and nerfed.

My question is this, at what point do you get the notice that they are invalid and presented with the adjustment box? When they're tamed? When they're called? When they're grown and called? Either way, I won't see these prompts if I'm always giving the pets away.

If I haven't seen this pet adjustment screen, then am I just making legal pets this whole time?

Novice BE. Not able to create Uber pets, so my market is going to be lower thatn lvl10 creatures. Been making Kaadu's to sell as mounts. I gather wide varieties of DNA just trying to get xp. I created this:

Level 6 Kaadu H-1180 A-1037 M-660 Dam. 40-50 ToHit .22 Att.Sp 2.2 Resist 8%kin 6%En 0%Blast Othrs VulnerableSp Att. CrippleStrike No armor or Ranged.

When I sold it to a CH they called it and got the out of range box. When they adjusted it, it had a HAM of 200. How is a Noivce Be supposed to make any money or get any kind of reputation when animlas they make are worthless?

The easiest fix for all of us would be to place the creature validity check into the crafting phase.. Then we would be able to sell any pets with the confidence that it will remain the same lvl as what we have created.

Unfortunately to do this effectively they will have to nerf pets that are already created and are too high (in their opnions) at the same time. but after that there would be no more post taming nerfs....

If the Devs would fix the system so we do not have to worry about what we are selling then i would be happy...

As far as refunds on broken pets are concerned.. i have not been asked for a refund yet, but my policy is SOE broke them.. talk to them

Ok, im no BE but I do have a CL10 BE pet. It has ( recalling from memory ) approx 4k Health / 3k Action / 1k mind, a few resists nothing stellar, no specials. I've used this pet VERY recently. Ive never received any messages about not being able to use him or anything similar. Is this pet in danger of that happening soon? I heard they did a CL sweep for "Bugged" pets recently, and yet this sweep seemed to have passed him by. My probot was reduced upon my call after a selection from a pop up message.

What are we non CH's gonna do about our beloved mini-tanks? Are they about to go POOF!?

Thx

I doubt they will go poof anytime soon. Every pet check they have come up with has failed miserably. If you send in a CSR ticket you'll be told BE is "working as intended."
