Just the way I like it, clear, concise, and to the point. grats.
Aside from that though i think most of the posts here are just going the rinse/repeat on the same things.
- As a stand alone combat prof we need : More defenses, more speed, more damage types.
Other than that, on possibility i'd be quite willing to entertain if it was feasible is leave our defenses where they are, but give us enough offensive output to compensate for it, more bang for the buck so to speak. Leave us vulnerable, but with enough damage output to make it hazardous to exploit those vulnerabilities. I can't see this happening, but the idea kind of stemmed from someone saying that to even the playing field your output should be offset vs your defenses. Obviously it would have to be a carefully adjusted thing to stop 90% of the servers going to carbineer/fencers or carbineer/tk, but i'd be happy to go without defense to have a good offense.

After all, the best defense is a good offense.

twiceborn said it all, imo.
I love hearing what everyone has to say. And I'll be honest...it's good to be back on the Fencer forums, as the entire feel of it is back to being productive, unlike a few months ago.
Incidentally it's good to see you back.

I have some questions for tigs, maybe they have been answered already, but there is a lot on nonsense in this thread
When would such a ban come into affect?
How would a csr define the term "bot"? (for example we have already discussed it is acceptable to go out for a cup of coffee and leave you character on auto pilot for a bit. Which is something i do! Well tea for me!)
Are the devs going to make this policy change through launch pad? (as the devs and players alike are fond of pointing out to everyone in our player base reads these forms).
Hmm i think i am going to get RSI if i have to type all my floruishes injust to avoid being labled a bot.
My thoughts:
I really don't see MACROS as the problem for dancers i see the need to spam florushes as my real issue hence why people build macros. If we could deal with the flourishes issue somehow ( maybe drop kick them to pluto? ). I do use macros to remove the boring manotany of having to flourih while i chat to people.
I do feel macros need to be sorted for other reasons as they are listed in this forum. Maybe make it so you can't use /join from a macro. That would sort out the buff bott issue, then the issue is closed.
Kib-wan i was not impliying dancer's didn't have wants and needs for housing/av21's/skills tables, which i was saying is they don't need compo, buffs, foods so they do normally have a much lower "running costs". There are some foods that help dancers but i can never seem to find some of them
If I may, Rotain, I think I can address a few of your concerns. First of all the idea of making botting a bannable offense is nothing more than a suggestion at this point. Tiggs is merely forwarding the idea to the dev team for consideration. There is no guarantee they will even go for it much less any specifics on how it might be implemented. Probably everyone here agrees that there is nothing wrong with going AFK for short periods of time. None of us want to see people getting banned for leaving their character running while going to the kitchen to make a sandwich or something, and I'm sure the devs would have no interest in it either. What we all want to get rid of are the bots that stand around for hours at a time doing nothing more than dispensing game mechanics with little or no user interaction. These bots are pretty easily identified from someone who just went AFK for a few minutes. Besides, I'm sure it would take several offenses or clearly blatant ones to earn a banning. Further there is *NO* intention on anybody's part of eliminating macros altogether. No one will have to type in '/flourish 1' unless they just want to. You will still be able to hotkey individual flourishes if you choose as well as string together larger flourish macros which can last for several minutes depending on how long your pauses are and how long the macro itself is. Eventually, I guess, you just won't be able to loop it automatically. You'll just have to restart it manually every so often. I already have it set up that way now. I do a /bow at the end of a macro so I know when I need to restart it. I hope this clears up a few of your major points.
I don't know why I started a dancer character. It may have been as a result of a little too much wine one evening. I decided to explore a new server and see what it was like and in a fit of semi-RP driven inspiration, created a male human brawler. A fat, old, male human brawler. And the first thing I did after writing my bio was go seek out an entertainer trainer and then head off to the cantina and start down the path to being a dancer.
This was meant to be my alt and is now my main character. I've had a great time in the cantina meeting other players and characters (mostly entertainers) and interacting with them and playing my character. It's great. After a little while I was invited to join an entertainers guild (who do go around performing at weddings and shows) and still find myself hanging around the cantina more than going out hunting or exploring or crafting or anything else.
There has to be a but though and it's this. I'm a little disappointed at the lack of content for entertainers in general. I know there are entertainer mission terminals and I tried doing a couple once. For a start, the payout is pretty dismal compared to other mission terminals. And I may be missing something, but I haven't been able to complete any of them. But we need more than terminals. As an entertainer I currently have no need to go to other planets. None whatsoever. There's just no need. In fact, I hardly need to leave Mos Eisley. I also have no decent NPC (i.e. terminal) source of income. Not compared to other professions. I do have to rely on PC tips mostly and, believe me, they're few and far between. (Admittedly, I don't provide the eye candy that others provide so maybe I should get some plastic surgery and liposuction done in the Bestine salon. Oh, except I can't afford it because I can't earn enough money... perhaps it's time to drop dancer as an unrealistic dream and stay being a doorman!)
The theatre quest is a step in the right direction except for two things. Once you've done it, that's it. You've got your new dance, you've completed the quest, thank you, good night. Secondly, you've got to more or less be a Master Dancer/Musician to be able to do the quest in the first place. It would be nice to have some content aimed at low to mid level entertainers too. (I'd like to be more helpful and suggest what that content could be but I haven't really thought about it so another time). I do have issues with the quest as well (namely the amount of XP you require to be able to learn the dance) and the fact that, as far as I am aware, you don't get any XP bonuses for completing the quest which seems a little contrary to my experience of RPGs.
Another aspect is tools of the trade: clothes, accessories etc. Not enough and certainly not enough for male dancers. I know it's a female dominated profession but that's no excuse for the lack of male dancer clothing. Or, for that matter, male friendly dances. I have still yet to see any male dancer doing an exotic dance (and I still need another 90K xp before my fat toon will be belly dancing through Mos Eisley cantina). I have a feeling I'm going to get laughed at even more when I try to be sultry - but if I want the xp then I'm going to have to do it.
The final disappointment is with our contribution to the PC community. BF healing and mind buffs are one thing (and I'm avoiding any mention of a certain, *ahem*, sticky subject here.) but there must be more that we could contribute. Something that would promote more interaction with other professions. Something that might, perhaps, benefit us more. (No idea what though).
I suppose what I'm getting at is that I love being a dancer and find it's a great way to get involved with other players. I would just like to be able to get more involved with the game.
(Sorry - that wasn't quite as quick as I thought it would be!

Thanks, good to be back. ![]()
Man, you don't know how much I hated coming on here, and seeing all those "Uber l337 template from such-and-such server and its ownz, boyeee!" And here I thought talking ebonics was bad on the boards. ![]()
So yeah, I'm back, and gonna try to be productive here again. No, I don't want your job, Mine. You're doing a damn fine job, now. I want Tiggs job! ![]()

Tiggs,
Thank you. I believe everything can be worked out. Even negative situations can be turned around if both parties are willing to discuss the barriers and knock them down. Having been through Rhetoric and Reason, there are several types of arguments. This is one of those merely verbal arguments where saying A means B. And through our back and forth talk we learned you meant A the whole time.
These are the kinds of communications CH want, desire and ultimately need. I am sure time and schedules do not always give the optimum chance, thanks for hanging in.
You are getting an A+ from me, extra effort and hard work pay off.
And you all get my official ...

for being an understanding bunch =)
