Here's what happened. You need to create a new schematic, the access schematic slot will only come up if you have a schematic in your datapad or a schematic in the slot already. If you created 1000 items the schematic would be used up so the slot is empty. When you have a new schematic to input you should get the option again.

Thats the problem .. many thanks!!

I was starting to get a little worried there ... thought I'd have to re-deed every time I wanted to set up a new run of pharmacuticals!

Thanks again!

Today's question is going to be about factories.

I want tomass produceStimpak B's. I made a manufacturing schematic for the three component parts and set up an equipment factory. I loaded the materials I used in the schematic into the factory hopper. And that's it now I'm stuck.

1. How do I get the factory to start producing?

2. How do I load the schematics into the factory? I've tried looking on my schematics radial menu and can't find a load option. I don't see on the factory radial where you load the schematic or turn the factory on at. (I do have plenty of power and maintence paid into the factory, so that's not a problem.) Without loading the schematic I don't see how the factory will know what I want it to make. So,if Icouldget a step by step guide on how to operate a factory it would be very helpful.

3. Not really a factory question. Most of my in-game problems/questions have been about the Artisian profession. I have found that I was able to find players in the med center who could answer my questions about medical and combat problems. The cantina for entertainment, combat and quest problems but I haven't seen a place on my server where artisians hang out. I've tried sitting in front of the crafting stations in hopes that someone will wander by but most of the people who could help me don't use the public stations, they use private ones. Is there a place where artisians meet to talk shop?

1 & 2) Ok, your first problem is that you need to use a Food/Chem factory for stims and their components, not an equiment factory. "Load schematic" is a selection on the "Options" menu, but only if you have a schematic valid to that factory type (which is why you're not seeing it now). You also don't get the option to start the factory until a schematic gets loaded.

3) There's not really anyplace in game where you're likely to find artisans congregating. You can use the "Search" tab on the Community window (ctrl-P or the 8th icon on the option bar). Look for people in the profession you need help with, especially if they have the "Helper" tag turned on.

Quick step-by-step factory usage:

  1. Make a schematic. This schematic will retain all the experimentation you did on the initial craft, but requires the exact same resources. So if you made a Liquid Suspension with Blatty Corellian water and Tuple Nabooian Domesticated Wheat, the schematic will only work with Blatty and Tuple in the input hopper. You can't substitute another kind of water, or even another name of Corellian water. If you made a schematic with components (like StimBs needing Liquid Suspension), you will need factory crates of the components with the same serial number.

  2. Get a factory of the correct type. Armor/Clothing for armor, clothing (and maybe their components), Food/Chem for food, BE tissues andmedical items, Structure for buildings (and maybe furniture), Equipment for everything else.

  3. Place the factory, load up maintenance and power.

  4. Load a schematic from the "Options" menu on the factory. This will only show up if you have a schematic that's valid for that factory type.

  5. Load the resources into the input hopper. The best way to figure out how many you need is to take the "Manufacturing Limit" of the schematic (which maxes at 1000) and multiply by the number of resources needed for each item. You can get the list of the resource names needed by selecting "List Ingredients" in the Options menu after loading the schematic.

  6. Turn the factory on by clicking "Start manufacturing" in the options menu.

  7. Wait. The time needed for each item is displayed when you /examine the factory, along with how many have been completed.

You can access the output hopper while the factory is running (to get a few crates until the whole run is complete) by clicking directly on "options".

I placed a food factory and gave it power and paid maintance. I entered a schematic and resources. Started it. Everything seems fine, but I cannot access the menus now, I can only examine it. Has anyone had this problem?

Does stopping and starting a factory run, change the serial number on the end results? Using the same schematic!

No the serial number on the final part will always be the same as the schematic that is used to make the item..

You can stop and start it as much as you like aslong as it's the same schematic.

no the schematic determins the serial number so you can even pull out the schematic store it for sevel month use it again and the make the exact same items with the same serial number
