It only uses power when running. Maintence constantly runs no matter what.

I think the maintenance always runs down, but power only runs down when the factory is making something... I guess it's the same with harvesters.

I finally made it to Master Droid Engineer and Master Artisan and I am having a blast making droids for people and changing the color on some really dreadful droids (who makes purple droids by the way?). The time has come when I need to get a factory to make my life a little easier and to lessen my reliance on other people. My question is what factory do I need to get? I looked in a lot of different Architect vendors and it seemed that there were a great amount of different factories - food, chemical etc. which should I buy?

Another question - I am looking forward to the time when droids become more useful, but for now, is there any real advantage to making advanced components for a droid? or using the highest quality materials? Aside from the personal satisfaction of building the best droid I can, is there any real value in me using metals costing 10-15 credits a unit instead of the 3 credits a unit metals I can easily find? This is especially related to Bounty Hunter droids.

Finally, I have already changed the color on droids for quite a few people, and during the process I can see the color the droid will be before I actually implement the change - can the droids owner also see this color before the implementation? I tried asking people as I was doing it, but they seemed not to understand what I was getting at (must be the English accent ) It would be a great deal easier if I knew I could cycle through colors until they seen one they liked and said 'Stop - that one'.

Really finally....I am currently working my way through the merchant tree as well. Decided that having dropped most of my combat skills (initially due to a holocron but now I know I will be sticking with DE - much more fun than Jedi!) I may as well go the whole way and become a pure crafter. Is merchant much of a boost to DE? Will I gain anything from it that will help my DE career? I seem to be able to carry out more business at the Coronet Starport that I could ever hope to get in a vendor somewhere. If Merchant is not the right profession - what other profession would best compliment a Master DE / Master Artisan?

Apologies if some of my questions are a little niave, I have spent the last 5 months treating this game as a FPS and have only lately realized how much fun could be had without killing donkeys and chickens.

Factory you want is an Equipment factory

No advantage to using high quality, but if you use specific resources (duralloy steel, duralumin aluminum, etc) may or may not reduce cost, and may or may not improve sales. advantage to the higher med/item ratings is that you can fit more in, making stuff like probots a better sale. and allowing you to fit more into a standard surgical unit without having to make an advanced one. advantage in armor is that if duralloy is harder to find, you can make one lvl 6 for full armor instead of 2 lvl 4 (or whatever).

buyers can't see the color, though that would be sweet to let them see them all

merchant helps, advertising will let people see you more easily. efficiency eventually works up to 20% less maintenance cost, which especially helps if you run harvesters and own a house. hiring and vendors i don't care for, but would be useful if you join inon a mall, let you sell from home and mall

don't forget to get master artisan so you can make the low-end components that are so vital to our job as DE. and have fun. nobody gets into DE to make mad bank, we do it because droids are hella-cool.

last pointer, i've seen people with BLLs for billboards. Nice idea, but people get disappointed when you tell them BLLs are just there to look pretty and not say anything.

Gratz on joining our noble profession.

  1. Equipment Factory

  2. No benifit to using better metals at this time, it might change with this next publish but I'm not sure if it'll make the cut in time.

  3. There is no way to show the colour prior to applying it to the droid.

  4. Advertising III: Planetary Ad Campaign greatly increases droid sales. The other skills in Merchant can help you as well, Efficiency will cut a lot fo your costs and Hiring will let your vendors speak which can be a nice even for the customers.

I was looking to buy an equipmentfactory to start making fireworks with, someone in my guild said I Would be able to, andsold me onefor 30K. I looked around at the options, asked around in the guild and there is no way to place the firework schematics in the factory. I put all my ingrediants in the ingrediant hopper, but thats all I could do. Someone later said I simply had no schematics that the factory could use.

So can I make fireworks in an equipment factory?

I 've been playing since the game came out but am just now trying out the crafting part of the game, and have just learned about this in the last 2 weeks or so:

You first have to create a manufacturing schematic for the factory. The way to do that is to get a "weapon, droid and general item crafting TOOL" (not your generic crafter, because they don't give schematics), and stand next to a "weapon, droid and general crafting STATION," then start crafting your fireworks. It will give you the option of making a manufacturing schematic, as well as experimentation options. Once you have the manufacturing schematic in your datapad, you can then access the schematic window of the equipment station and it will be listed there.

Also -- it may seem obvious to some, but noobs to crafting may not know this -- remember that whatever you want to mass produce must be made in the corresponding type of factory (e.g., food products in a food and chemical factory).

I know this has probably been asked already but I can't seem to find it so I thought I would ask again. Can anyone tell me what the maintenance rate is on a clothing and armor factory? The help as always is appreciated.

Hi all,

Just a quick question re: factories. I placed my first a couple of days ago, and it has now completed it's run of 1000 items. They're all in crates in the output hopper, and the remaining ingredients in the input. However, although it's finished, the only options I have available are access output hopper and access ingrident hopper.

I had assumed there would be an option to enter a new schematic, and set the factory off with a new run of items. Do I need to empty the hopper entirely, or is tehre anything else I should do?

Thanks all, Ickle

Sounds strange, I use my output hopper as a storage unit and I can add new schematics and make new items.

Sounds like a bug to me.

Good luck getting it worked out.
