Some observations on CL

Well, I'm not specifically experimenting to figure out how to control CL, I have a theory from what I've seen ... it looks like CL is a combination of the psychology slot and the resists. If you look at my Vir Vur experiment, you can see where the lowest CL also has the lowest stats in the psych slot.... but the Cu Pa experiment leads me to belive that having *any* resists automatically bumps up the CL.

If anyone wants to experiment and find out I'd be happy to help. I just want to know how to build a knockdown bunny

A lot of wild critters got more HAM in the creature pass.

Oh i just realised how you will lower the HAM down again, simply take 4 of those samples and mix them with typical just dna which has no resistances. The resistances themselves should be uneffected while the HAM and damage ect.. will be significantly dropped. Once it reaches the right point then you can rebuild a bit as well. It might even be worth making specific dna which is all HAM for such purposes.

"Definitely not. I'm still working on my experiment on Resits with ikopi and faamba dna.2 more templates and I'll post my results. So far however, it appears, for resists at least slots are weighted in teh following order Physique, prowess mental. With physique giving the highest weight to the resists in it's slot and mental giving the lowest"

Thats encouraging. If I am reading that right, to pick the resists that you want on your clone, you need to find something in the wild that matches what you want and put that dna into physique, prowess, and mental. I am curious toseethe out come of 3 equalresistvalues and the extent that experimentation plays.Seems like its shaping up to be alot more intricate than I originally thought, but with a fairly high learning curve. I am can't wait for you test results, keep up the good work

just a musing, it would be cool if you had a 4 slots in the clone process. The 4th being for optional power ups

Well, there are still 5 slots. I haven't done the test yet with faamba dna in the psychology and aggresion slots, but I'll be doing that tonight to see how those are weighted. As a note, the CL 24 Vir Vur was made completely with Faamba dna and had the same resists as a faamba.

Quick two questions:

1) Is experimentation now working on the final combine?

2) Is Unit Toughness still a required stat on the Flora and Fauna food (which do not have that as an attribute) for making clones?

On number two i have seen no requirements on the items used to make the clones at all. This is likely to be a bug (i hope).

Better yet Medium armor

But on a serious note, what would happen if you were to sample a juvenille krayt dragon (is that possible? Read the level you could sample was capped a while back), mix in some other samples, maybe some say sludge panther DNA? I'd like to see how that turned out.

Also another I'd like to see... Mantigrue screechers, they have an evil disease, and on live they had medium armor, also. (not sure what they are on test)

Okay .. I got a chance to do a little experimenting tonight with some DNA that I had already ...

Here's the results of the test with a Dewback and a Kwi

I'm starting to narrow down how specials are inherited .. from a combination of my experiments and Talthazar's, I believe that the first special is inherited from the aggression slot but I need to do a little more testing to confirm this. Unfortunately, the last template that I had critical failed on the combine.

Dewback and Kwi Experiments

I've also continued to post the colors of the creatures that I make

I'll be back in game on Sunday.

Someone please test this hypothesis:

It appears the DNA that goes into the Physique slot has a heavy influence on resists, the DNA in the Physique slot has a heavy influence on specials, etc, but these influences are nonuniform.

My hypothesis it that the weights given to each sample's resists and specials are the product of a default weighting for the template slot, and the sample's values for the 2 attributes relevant to the slot.

Talthazar is working on this very thing. I think he's almost done with his experiment. I'm sure he'll post his results as he gets them.

it would be nice if kel wrote up a BE crafting tutorial just like they did for the armorsmiths and made it a friday feature (not too revealing, but outlining the limits and basic rules of the system).

It would be great if we could get a crafting tutorial from the Devs .. but I know I'm going to write one up on specials once I figure the system out.

I need more DNA! ... and more time before my guests show up for the weekend ...

Kinda makes me chuckle that Keldarin appologised that the current clonining system had been 'needlessly vague' and he was 'surprized at how much we figured out ourselves' and to think that I read that and thought they'd make it a little more intiuitive this time. I don't mind a complex system as long as we're given some pointers about what does what.
