Thread: Houston we have ignition....
What kind of XP gains are you seeing and are they consistent with the existing paltry sums or have they improved somewhat? Also is the XP for creature crafitng dependent on the skin level (I-IV or Master) or the Creature level (CL)?
Many thanks to those who have sacrificed their industry so that we may have a (slightly) less buggy game.
Maybe I missed something, but I noticed on your before and after DNA screenshots that Special attacks are missing on the new DNA samples?
whats up with the quality stat on the DNA template? ive never seen that before, only on samples. maybe a higher quality DNA template will produce more balanced pets or carry stats through better? worth a look i think. it would definitely shift the cloning power up the skilltree (if very high quality templates can only be made with very high quality samples that is).
btw, anyone figure out ranged attacks or try to yet?
also: its possible, from looking at the cu pa experiments, that the special attacks are taken from the "dominant" or more powerful DNA sample (the sample from the more powerful creature). if that is the case then the logical explanation for cu pa #4's lack of specials would be thatnuna and spineflap were the same CL and cancelled each other out... just a theory, but itsthe simplest way i can think to explain these phenomenon.regardless of cu pa 4 (whose lack of specials might just be a chance result of the template's "below average" quality) it really looks like the "dominant" DNA carries specials through to the final creature. also, this might be the key to Tal-N's idea about weighted calculations in resistances - it could be weighted based on the "dominance" of the DNA (ie. CL of the donor).
all just speculation, but these theories seem as valid as the rest floating around. it would be nice if kel wrote up a BE crafting tutorial just like they did for the armorsmiths and made it a friday feature (not too revealing, but outlining the limits and basic rules of the system). i know it would clear up a lot of speculation, but not only that, i think it would generate a ton of interest in our profession and shed some much needed light on exactly what it is we go through to make a creature. i would love to see it, especially considering the MASS /telling of ridiculous questions that would otherwise inevitably follow the pushing of our cloning fixes to live servers.
man im excited about this.

so once again... whats the best wild non-CH pet? thats right, the one the BE let free! it looks like we are gonna dominate the non-CH pet business.
non-CH: "hi can you bring me a non-CH version of a bageraset? i love those things... an albino if possible!"
CH: "um... what are you talking about? nothing like that exist, noob"
BE: "dont mind him.. step right this way! did you say you wanted a tank or an attacker? if its mainly forPVE i can skim somepoints off the mindpool and push up the resists a bit. im sorry, what color did you want again?"
ahh... to have a purpose!
On the Vir-Vur special Attacks experiment:
It looks to me that 2 or more slots are controling this. Psychology appears to be one for sure and one of the HAM slots at least.
Might be worth testing to see if lets says Psych and Mind have DNA with the same special on it, would it produce a creature everytime with that special attack?
Just my observation from his screenshots. Wish I could help you guys test.
Thanks for all the great info and hard work.
Question:
With the creature balance change so that under 30 or so pets no longer have armor. Can we make a cl 20 or cl 30 pet w/ light armor or not? Or is it as soon as you add armor your min cl is 30+?
As I think about it could prob answer my own question but curious as to what others think.

I was wondering the same thing. We were told that psych would be a facotr in this patch. Has anyone gotten a handle on what it does yet?

Personally, I'm having a blast with this experimentation. Unfortunately houseguests show up at 9:00pm EST tonight and don't leave until some time early Sun afternoon ...
Oh! and on the size issue, I'm currently growing up a CL2 and a CL6 Cu Pa in my datapad .. I'll post pics as they grow .. they're the same size right now.
For the more scientifically minded folks, I'm going to plot a series of experiments and show them here before I do them ... maybe tonight, probably sun. Feel free to comment on them.
DNA types (relatively easy to aquire on Naboo)
- Spineflap Soldier - CL 14; Stunning strike/--; no resists; vulnerable to stun
- Nuna - CL 10; no specials; no resists; vulnerable to stun (base DNA)
- Plains Tusk Cat - CL 16; --/Stunning strike; 20% heat/cold, 5% Kenetic/Energy/Blast/Restraint; vulnerable to acid/stun/electricity
- Peko Peko - CL 14; --/Intimidation; 25% blast; vulnerable to stun
I also have 3 peices of Picket Longhorn DNA thanks to a great person who's name I forgot to write down (sorry! but thank you again!) ... From the CH forums: Picket Longhorn - CL 35?; 45% kinetic, 40% energy, 25% stun/restraint/heat/cold/acid/electricity; specials not listed on the board (I'll have to check when I get home but I think it's either intimidation or dizzy)
Depending on how much DNA I get I'm going to try a few different experiments ...
Using Nuna DNA as a base, put one of the others in the following slots:
- Psych only (experiment on Psych)
- Psych/Mental (experiment on Psych)
- Psych/Mental (experiment on Mental)
- Mental only (experiment on Mental)
- . . . repeat the last 3 for each of the HAM bar slots
If I start to see a pattern I'll toss in the picket DNA and see if we can't get something special.
I'm focusing specifically on specials here ... Tal and the others are mucking around with CLs and resists.
Let me know if there's anything else you think I should try ...
Definitely not. I'm still working on my experiment on Resits with ikopi and faamba dna.2 more templates and I'll post my results. So far however, it appears, for resists at least slots are weighted in teh following order Physique, prowess mental. With physique giving the highest weight to the resists in it's slot and mental giving the lowest.

And all the other BE in Test Center who are doing an outstanding job in communicating with the community.
All I can say is WOW ! I thought that making CL10 the max for non-CH would pretty much kill the usefulness of pets for fighting purposes for them. But having a pet with 2.8k hitpoints (even w/o resists) is a viable option for crafters who need extra protection during their harvester runs or combat-types at the start of their careers.

Are there any CL9 critters in the wild with that high HAM? Or will the "crafted is better than looted" finally become true for Bio-Engineers?
