Just popping in to let you guys know I didn't forget about you. I sent out an email questioning the policy and I am still waiting on a response. Everyone is very busy with JtL going from beta to launch so it may take a few days.

Just as something to read along with your email let me add the following, if only to bolster my collection of 1 stars from the feather boa syndicate.

The devs and founders of this game were very explicit from Day 1 that intelligent macro-ing and a reasonable amount of AFK were part of the game. You can read articles and interviews out the wazoo that confirm this viewpoint.since when is reasonable afk completly macroing an entire profesion this is exsessive and unresonable

Over the course of time in game development it is perfectly reasonable to expect that a mafia of socializer type Dancers and Musicians would evolve and (human nature being what it is) that they would want to "own" the profession and control all advancement and rewards within the profession while squeezing out everyone they do not control, particularly the AFK's in place to service other communities. That is the nature of the beast.mafia own Gee im sorry all we want is to be able to play our profession and make enough credits at it to survive in the game without having to take another profession if we dont choose to how is his wanting to own the profession and shut everyone else out. i dont want to own the profession i welcome compatition from players who actual;ly play the game however afk is not a play style its a non play style

Nevertheless the interests of those other communities who need BF healing on a consistent basis is at least as worth of Dev respect and consideration as the special pleadings of the Fleshwrap Cos Nostra. Their focus is on the NPC cities and their chosen few private cantinas. But most of your customer base is scattered elsewhere. if you were a dancer before christmas which i doubt by the way you descrive ancers you would know that this isnt the way it used to be we were driven out of the cantinas by buffbotts i used to kknow tons of dancers and yes masters who would dacne in all manner of location s and never hesitated to travel to buff or healsomeone even if we didnt get tipped that stopped with the afk infestation and the complete lack of community repspect we gained along with it

If the socializers had made some special effort to cover the Galaxy, they might deserve special game protection. But they have done no such thing. They just want to force everybody to kowtow and /tip them as the undisputed Lords of the Blue Bar regardless. And I am here to tell you that your working player will have none of it. again why are we going to make an effort to cover h galaxy whne we do there a buffbott there or we ger harrassed and disrepected by the people there

Most BF healing occurs in the boonies in private dwellings and cantinas where your squad of Forum whiners here never venture. Most Entertaining takes place outside their clutches. im sorry but again most live entertainers are willing to travel to heal you even go to dungeons or on hunts wihth you to heal and buff along the way if you ask them nicely treat hem with recpecnt and omg and i now this is hard for you actually tip them once in a while

You would do well to remember the needs of SWG's whole population, not just a squeaky-wheel subset.

finally all servers now host a live entrtainer chat channel i believe where live entertainers can be found to buff or heal you before all the masses of people who love buffbotts whine about how they can never find a live entertainer why dont you actually try finding one most dont they just go straight to the buffbott right off because you dont have to tip takto or respect a buffbott its an inanimate object and it has ruined 3 entire professions. and if afk gameplay is so ok by the devs then why is afk leviling on the roof considered an exploit for jedi

It was considered an exploit because it broke the game! It allowed Jedi to gain ALL the exp they wanted without fear of retribution. I tip buffbots and I do so proudly they are providing the service I want at 4 am CST. and they do it without making me interact with them. HEY I DONT MIND INTERACTING WITH THEM.BUT, I SHOULDNT BE FORCED TO BEG FOR A FREAKIN HEAL. And tell me is it not possible for you to pull in every person their and buff them? you can advertise in a way a buffbot cannot. its called making them a better deal then the robot buff bot in the corner can. And who says i HAVE TO show you respect. does a chef or a doctor DEMAND i respect them? NO they do their job and get paid for it.... Maybe thats what the entertainers who are complaining should do, NO?

Exactly. Just as this breaks our game. Now if you want to rant why not take it to the thread it belongs in. The buffbot sticky.

My opinion of our profession: Fencer is a defensive profession. That is probably my favorite part of being a fencer. The one thing i think we lack is probably our weapon variety. I'd like to see us using swords for one and probably an AP 1 weapon as well. We've been pretty blessed so far so i'm hoping the changes that are made don't completely destroy our profession. I think that's all i have to say really.

As Important as decay is, I am putting it in position 3 on my list. I am listing things that are very important to us, and have an eye on the amount of development time involved. In a perfect world, I'd ask for DE to be made similar to shipwright, and it would happen. but these are the things I feelcan be pretty easily done to helpDEs, in the system we have now.

1) Bug Fixes- Surgical droids that can store items, Conversation type droids that can be renamed, Droids that make droid noises instead of Creature pet noises, Structure Maintenance Modules that won't break, and can be installed in any configuration without error. Ask for a full list, and we can get it to you.

2) Salability issues-

a)DE is one of the heaviest "Teaching" professions in the game. Many customers require lessons and explanations to learn how to use thier new droid. Many of our recently added modules have a skill required in order to fully use them. If our Droid Deeds listed the skill box needed, or if the Player Skill Page listed the ability when gained, anything to make it less a mystery.

b) Review and revise our consumable products as for their usefulness, crafting difficulty, and marketability. Batteries could last a bit longer, but really they are fine if we can get a listing of the number of charges a stack will have once it's pulled from a crate. Paint Kits got ruined with publish 11 a typical 8 charge paint kit will now keep a 2 color droid painted for 400 days IF the owner calls it 20 times a day, every single day. These are now bought totally based on the purchaser's desire to change colors, instead of a healthy mix between consuming and customer convenience. Far too difficult to craft based on the limited potential for sales (3 factory runs required for subcomponents and assembly). Survey Droids, the amount of information returned is negligible, and the convenience factor has been largely negated by the ease of travel coming with JTL. far too difficult to make these for the return involved.

3) Droid Decay- other people have talked about this at length, I'll just say I agree with the concept, as long as its implemented properly. The possibilties for repair need to be addressed as opposed to simple Decay and replacement. This is where a modular system similar to shipwright would work best, but the Development time also rockets up when the more complex proposals are considered.

Hello Tiggs, I'm Vaelore.

My list is not much different than others so forgive the redundancy.

1. Master level AP1 weapon. This should be a blade weapon doing a dmg type other than kenetic or stun (i.e. vibrosword doing electric type dmg). Also along these lines would be a dot producing mid-range weapons at a greater frequency (i.e. gaffi's containing usable dots at the same frequency that janta dots occur now).

2. Fencer should have a KD skill somewhere in the tree, either in place of spin attack or something new.

3. Allow scatter hit 2 (and all other) animations interruptable by movement commands so that we don't have to wait until the end of the animation to jump to the next enemy that may be kiting or escaping.

These are my main issues with the fencer profession. If a list is compiled from this thread I sure would like to get a peek at it.

Thanks for taking the time to stop in.

I seen you in the Squad Leader thread so I am confident you will return to address our concerns (not that you can or will fix them yourself).

I speak as a former MDE, who really misses the profession, but saw no hope for real change after patch 8.

When I first heard of being a droid engineer, I conjured up images of throwing together parts and getting a unique droid. I absolutely >love< the starship crafting, and that is exactly how I envisioned DE. Using different parts to gain different appearances and abilities so every droid isnt a cookie cutter of the last.

Furthermore, Star Wars is about droids. Droids should be everywhere. You shouldnt be able to turn around with out seeing a droid, yet in SWG they have no place, its like they were added as anafter thought. They should be an integral part of everything.

Oh, and something about decay, which I think someone else mentioned

And why does everyone else get free checkers?

Well, Tiggs..the above are not by any means examples of the Worst things I've been called in game, just for being a dancer. But they are pretty obvious indicators of the kind of respect members of the entertainer professions get from other players in the game. I don't think we could have demonstrated this in your thread quite as well as they have.

The fact you came back and posted again says alot,I shall give you the benefit of the doubt here.

I know you are busy lol ans soon you will leave this thread and move onto another professionbut can you pop in from time to time and post on any relevent thread that might need a red name lol

As you can see we all feel a little ignored over the last year and a red name does wonders for moral lol

I always tip my buffbots i cannot do without them!!! You know most of the time I dont want to sit their and talk to an entertainer or dancer or musician. They are in their world and I in mine! ALL I want is my mind healed and possibly a buff. Last time I talked to a live Musician/Dancer, he said he didn't like how I asked for the buff. (NOT ANYTHING TODO WITH MONEY, JUST DIDN'T LIKE THE FACT I WANTED MY BUFF AND TO LEAVE!). So I use buffbots mostly now. 1)Their easier to deal with. 2)Their usually faster, and 3) they dont demand payment. And besides with JtL a few days away Entertainers will be getting all the exp they can shake a stick at. (Also sense their entertainers they should not be able to demand that I pay them) IT SHOULD BE MY CHOICE! And lastley BEING A DANCER, ENTERTAINER, AND MUSICIAN IS MIND NUMBINGLY BORING!

Hey don't 1 star me ive tried it, I know you can agree that doing the same 20 moves ALL day long is borning as hell. what about the same 8 songs? ( dont know how many offically their, are just guessing). After you heard them for 1 day you want to go afk. Least I did for the day or so i was an entertainer.

I am NOT an entertainer. but i hear the same old line comming from these professions which is basicaly "NERF RECURSIVE MACROS".

I like to write macros and ive got plenty of DETAILED macros that can do just about ANYTHING. I don't want to lose my macro abilities just because some entertainers/musicians and dancers want them to be done away with. Ohh and the last complaint "YOU DONT MAKE ANY MONEY". FIRST OFF. YES YOU DO! ...

and ...

It was considered an exploit because it broke the game! It allowed Jedi to gain ALL the exp they wanted without fear of retribution. and then there was Karquile ...

Over the course of time in game development it is perfectly reasonable to expect that a mafia of socializer type Dancers and Musicians would evolve and (human nature being what it is) that they would want to "own" the profession and control all advancement and rewards within the profession while squeezing out everyone they do not control, particularly the AFK's in place to service other communities.

and ...

It would be nice if the socializing lobbyist brigade would not EVEN try to convince me that they are going to come out there to BumfuqueTown and replace that AFK townie's toon when they're finished making him illegal. It's not going to happen.

See what we have to deal with Tiggs? From outsiders and even those who at least claim to be insiders. We have no way of knowing for sure whether they are who they claim to be or not unless we happen to know them from in the game, but if they are, at the very least they seem to be having a very different gaming experience from what most of us seem to be having. At the beginning of this thread you said you didn't want to just get pointed to other threads so these would be some good examples of the typical kinds of resistance we usually face around here. These same questions have been pointed out and refuted many times before, but if you want to see more of the arguments both ways in more detail, you can simply refer to the AFK/buffbot sticky thread in this forum. I think there's no need to repeat all those arguments here.

There is no question that there will be change, and that there will be some getting used to, but this current atmosphere is venomous. It must come to an end and soon. As a veteran of the game since about launch, I almost find humor in the dire predictions of those painting gloom and doom in a game without buffbots and AFK macros since I was there when most people never knew about AFK, buffs didn't exist, and entertainer groups had fun in cantinas socializing and helping to heal people who came in. 'Almost' that is except for the fact that this time seems so long ago now, and these opinions are so vicious and so widespread now. This is why we need help and we need it now (actually, we needed it months ago). I know that other professions need help as well, and I wouldn't deny them their fair turn in line, but hopefully now that JTL is about out, the dev team can focus on a few issues at a time, and I hope that our most pressing ones will be among them.

And Tiggs, I again appreciate the effort that you are making for us here. I daresay this is the first time that I have seen the devs pay any attention to our concerns and suggestions much less make sure that they are considered on any level. I thank you for that, and I hope that we will continue to see your updates in here from time to time.

Amen.... this needs to stop. Ent Healing needs to be reviewed in the Combat Update. Believe it or not, Socializers really don't enjoy being resented for their "reward." The problems that created the "need" for buffbots needs to be handled while all other Prof to Prof interaction and Healer Support is being reviewed so it can be made to fit into the game better... for both the Social and the Combat players.

However, let's be clear. Ent Healing exists as a reward for Social players and for no other reason. Some non-Social players have learned that these profs can be exploited to gain other game benefits, but they are missing the intention of these Profs entirely... and destroying the Social players ability to use these mechanics as intended.

Cantinas are supposed to be the Social players environment.

BF is meant to be a Social players reward by bringing in a constant flow of people to interact with.

Blue Wound healing is meant to give us a cleartie to the Combat Cycle and increase the Social player's worth with outgoing into battle.

Mind Buffing is meant to give Social players a way to earn income with out having to leave their Social environment.

We, the Social players did not make this plan and there are actually quite a few changes most of us would like to see for the above, but that was the plan. Buffbots break that plan in everyway. They are not doing the normal amount of AFK that was considered allowable, they stay AFK and ruin our whole design.

Buffbots and the ability to Buffbot does not reward the Social player. Social players are the only reason for there to be Ent Healing. If the Social players are not being rewarded, there is no need for Ent Healing. Buffbots have to go, then we can talk about what needs to happen with Ent Healing and see if it can be made to work as intended or better. Nothing can be done as long as Bots are allowed though. They completely undermine the Social player structure and our plan in the game.
