Thank you, Tiggs, for keeping up to date with this thread and providing feedback. You've been a breath of fresh air for us. No doubt you have boosted more than one entertainers' morale.

Thank you to all the other real entertainers out there who have done a more than adequate job of explaining how gamebreaking buffbots and afk are to our game.

And, a very special thank you to the people that have come in here in support of afk and buffbots. Your words have done more to prove our points about lack of respect and how gamebreaking the bots are than we ever could. It's one thing for us to claim all of these negative effects. It's quite another thing for you to prove our point.

/dithers about whether to say this here or in the afk/buffbot sticky.

I wouldn't want to see a policy against afk macroing put in place for one simple reason.

Surveying for resources is as dull as you like!

Buffbots and afk macroing are an antithesis to the entertainer professions, this is true. I even feel guilty about leaving my dancer for 15 minutes while I grab a bite to eat these days. I certainly won't leave him unattended for long periods of time just to rack up xp (and I would never think about setting up an unattended buff macro!)

But making AFK macroing "illegal" will hamper those who are "grinding" artisan. Say you find a nice 90% seam of steel and need not only 1500 units of it but also need 9000 more surveying xp to get your final box. Well, at 5 units and 30 xp every 30 seconds, that's nearly 3 hours worth of gameplay. In the middle of the desert, with no-one around to talk to. Not social, not interesting. The ideal circumstances to launch a macro and go and watch a film or spend quality time with your loved ones.

I know they tried to prevent afk macroing for artisans by having a random boxes appear every now and again, but this didn't really work.

I don't know if afk surveying can be called gamebreaking (it doesn't get mentioned in the artisan top 5 issues) and, unlike buffbots, it doesn't directly affect any ATK artisans who do get their kicks out of ATK surveying for hours on end.

A policy change would be a simple fix but, in my experience, simple fixes of complex problems normally cause more trouble than they solve. A programming fix (removing autojoin, requiring ATK interaction to buff etc.) would be better, imho.

Actually, the beautiful thing about the proposed "fix" is that only players directly affecting other players would be likely to be reported, and thus punished. If you're off surveying somewhere by yourself, chances are nobody will even see you there, never mind stop, ask if you're AFK and then report you. Those campers at the loot spawns and the AFK entertainers in public cantinas who are destroying gameplay will be reported though.

Personally, I should think the buffbots would want to get behind this idea. They won't be reported in their own houses or PA halls and can continue to service their guild. They'd just have to stay out of the public cantinas. The alternative is to lose ALL ability to AFK macro. Period. That what you guys really want?

Think about it.

I think the only people (mostly) playing CH at this point are the ones that truly love it and the concept of the CH (roleplaying hippies :smileyvery-happy. I used to have it back when a Graul Mauler (or better yet 2) was a force to be feared in PVE (though never PVP even then). We would be the ones that would be complaining...and we all dropped it ages ago. If we could have multiple characters per server I might pick one up for the fun factor but with only one character there is no way I would sink points into something that has little to no use in PVE or PVP compared to other professions. If I wanted fun roleplaying I would play the Sims.

Ok, I was one of the people who tooks Tiggs comment the wrong way. I apologize if she thought I twisted here words. I quoted them and asked if she was saying what I took it to infer. And yes, I was overly sarcastic. Well, she responded back. I accept her response at face value and will take her at her word. The fact that she even responded still astounds me but that is just because I have been here a long time and it is so unusual. I give her credit for that. We can be a crusty ornery bunch.

So, with Tiggs trying at least and the flash pop in of a Dev this weekend, I am starting to feel much better. I suggest that Tiggs get a whip, chair, and a baseball bat. She might need it here. I also suggest that we all give her the benefit of the doubt. Vert is well aware of out issues and I am pretty sure that the lists and priority are a close to a general concensus as you are going to get here. If she want to attend a BEAST meeting she can get alot of imput from MCH's from around the Galaxies. If she needs any of the many repeatable bugs or discrepancies reproduced in game she can ask here and I for one will volunteer as I am sure many of us will. I know Vert has accounts on TC I have a MCH/TKM on TC-Bria.

First off it wasn't intended that you grind to rush to some plateau. This concept that you have to grind to something is core to the problem. It is a game, if you aren't doing something you consider fun then do something different. I have several crafting friends who did it ATK. Yes they set up macros to automate some of the tedious crafting steps but that still required them to be there to select and drag the resources from inventory to the screen. They did it by either doing short intense sets or by joining others in our group and chatting while working. When surveying they used guild chat to have company. If it was a dangerous area we would join them.

The fact is that if you are automating a task and walking away you are utilizing system resources you do not deserve because you are not PLAYING THE GAME. I personally don't care if you are in the middle of the desert where no one can see you, if you are in the same zone as me you are affecting my game. Some planets and zones have gotten so laggy that unless you have a monster computer they are simply unplayable. I was with a friend Saturday and when we returned to Theed her system got to the point that she could not move. This is in large part due to the number of AFK players who's characters are online and using system resources. The lag has gotten worse with the JTL expansions recently and AFK play is going to be an even bigger factor.

Play the game or log, it really is that simple. You don't start up DOOM 3 and then walk off to do other things, why do it with this game? If it isn't fullfilling your expectations and holding your interest then find something that does. Even the most boring of tasks can be fun if they are done with friends and that is what makes the MMORPG work. Find ways to accomplish that or leave but quit using valuable system resources when you aren't interested because it affects the quality of my game time by making the fun I'm having with my friends less enjoyable through slow response time, random timeouts, and disjointed communications with friends who have less computer than I do.

Cpl_Fisher are you even a fencer? The lack of armor piercing and dammage makes the fencer useless against high end mobs, and with PGS and stun armor being so common we dont have much of a chance in PvP either unless we have a 7-10 million baton.

With the high end mods getting the allways hit after publish 9, the denfence to tank enemies really relies on thoughness and fencer really doesnt have much in that.

And since wenn does the riffleman not have good defences, riffleman has better ranged & melee defence than any of the other ranged proffs including BH & Commando, aswell has having the best speed and accuracy.

most importent give fencer AP1, swordaman & pikeman has AP2 and the TKA has that +250min & +250max dammage

wouldnt mind getting the mace quest fixed, no one has this fencer weapon and its not because of the lack of trying.

Welcome aboardTiggs

To your first question yes, my alt is a fencer.

I have found that for PvP, the best weapon for my is the gaffi batton, i don't know about any other severs, but most stun comp on Valcyn has only around 65% kinetic resist, because PSG's don't defend against kinetic, Most of the time a gaffi works best, If not I then switch toa stun batton.

Rifleman do have good ranged defense, but block almost never goes off, and you have to take into account that rifleman have a 2.5x to hit modifier against them. This means that a master of any melee proff or high end mobs that use melee attacks almost never miss a rifleman. I dueled a master pike in my guild with my rifleman and he hit me 17 out of 20 times. Also keep in mind that rifleman only get +10 def against states.

Yes rifleman do have VERY high speed and acc mods, but those are offensive mods.

Besides jedi, facing a Master fencer is one of my worst nightmares as a Rifleman, I can't hit him, esp if he has aircake and COB running, and it may take a while, but even with fencers low damge, they will eventually get me, (unless I run straight for nearest mountain, for the life of me, I can't figure out why most melee fighters don't get terrain neg)

Now imagine, a pure speed capped master rifleman with fencer defences and no 2.5x melee to hit modifier against them, Rifleman would be the same power offensively (debatably the highest in game with acklay power hammers a speed capped swords can beat them sometimes, esp since a set of 11 krayts tissue is A LOT harder to get than acklay bones and since krayt tissue doesn't give min damage bonuses ) then on top of that, they would be extremely hard to kill. Now this pure master rifle invest in 0/04/0 pikeman (I think that's the tree that gives block) and goes 0/04/0 pistoleer, Almost unbeatable, I honestly think that would be game breaking.

Fencer does have one ap1 weapon, and although its not great, its ap1 does make up for its damge stats. If you do get good loot to make a vibroblade, and get a good damage slice, they can be quite good.

My point is, that One single proffesion should NEVER get high deffense high (or even mid) offense. It simply would not be balanced.

BTW most PvP rifleman have some combination of fencer denses pistoleer state def and pikeman block. That is why ribleman seem so overpowered, cross proffesion defense stacking, so they last long enough to do some serious damage to an enemy force. I was on a base raid once where both imps and rebels had like 10 rifleman in a line prone 60m away from each other blasting away using flushing shot 2 flurry shot2 and strafeshot 2. It created a dead zone in the middlethat not even jedi could last long enough to cross. It creaed a stalemate until a couple of fencers flanked our line , and a jedi got behind it. the fencers rolled up our line and as the rifleman tried to retreat back into the base, the jedi ripped them apart in a matter of seconds. Our team still managed to get the base though

One last note, 5 stars for being constructive

I still say that fencers should get a weapon at least as good damage wise as the gaffi stick that is an actual one handed SWORD. Or maybe just be a clone damage wise to the gaffi stick with ap1 and lowe accuracy stats. After all it doesn't take that much skill to swing a club. Ona similer note, why not give pikeman a decent real pike ? (A pike is a long pointy stick used to stab people with not a staff that you club people with)

A few things that get on my nerves:

#1 Rancors and other big critters I have fighting for me that run away when they get a 'little' wounded. Sure they should eventually take their own safety into consideration but not until they are at least down to 1/16th of their max HAM

#2 A lot of tamed critters still stand RIGHT on top of you when you are stationary.

#3 It seems that I must constantly command a pet to attack some times. May be related to #1.

#4 More high level critters that are ultra rare. C'mon I want something ULTRA scary. I dont mind if it needs to be Bio-Eng'd using some sort of quest schematic. Although, I would much prefer as a Creature Handler to be able to tame it myself.

#5 How about a few CH specific quests. Something like that mentioned in #4. All professions should have access to these quests. They really do add a ton of content.

Other then these I am quite happy. Thanks for asking
