I have read through the rest of the posts and I know that even by making macroing a bannable offense this would make you happy. But I can't make that call. I will

What's funny is thats all that it would take for you to fix unattended game play, make it "illegal". No dev time required, just a few warnings and maybe a banned account or two and people would get the idea. All that extra dev time could be put to use fixing all the other broken stuff in the game.

As easy as it sounds it is a bit more complicated then that. New rules will need to go into effect, call volume will increase considerably ect. Like I said it isn't my call to make but I will check into it.

It's good to know this will be brought up, thanks Tiggs. I think that making afk macroing bannable is a nice simple solution. It's a place to start at least. I am atk but I do use macros to buff because I really don't want carpal tunnel syndrome. So, they have legitimate uses and I'd rather not see them taken away.

Now, you quoted a message about broken dances and falling but didn't mention a word about possible solutions to these (and other) problems. The 400k xp for the quest is probably getting right up there as a big issue as well, because it doesn't just affect our dancing or music, but also the players who might also be going jedi. Can you give us some feed back on these issues...if they are being worked on and if not why? Thanks.

My biggest concern with the entertainer professions is that they don't seem like they are valued. The professions have been decimated by the AFK-performers and a lot of people tend to view us as people who just like to stand around and chat. When I think of the classic "entertainer" role from other MMORPG games, the bard, it is a role that offers more than one function. That character is a valuable member of a group and does more than just stand around and sing/dance. I'd like to have the same feeling with an entertainer in this game.

The entertainer professions also suffer from the fact that they are not self-supporting. Sure, you get a meager /tip now and again, but it is very difficult to make a living as an entertainer. I am a master musician and a master entertainer, but I learned long ago that I couldn't count on that to pay the bills. I make my money from running delivery missions, which are incredibly boring and repetitive.

From a personal level, entertaining just isn't much fun anymore, with the exception of guild events. The entertainer missions are lacking in interest and the payouts don't even cover the cost of the shuttle fairs to get to the places where you are to perform. The new theatre manager quests are a step in the right direction, but the 24-hour timers and buggy audience feedback system leave much to be desired.

When you boil it down, I just want to feel like I'm contributing something as an entertainer. I'm not just a buffbot and a second-class profession.

I was just making a statement about how odd I thought it was they never complained. Perhaps I should have added these people are the first to complain about anything *shrugs*. Anyway, I am here to gather what this communityfeels iswrong with their game play. I am nothere tosay your feelings aren't valid about your game play just collecting information to help myself better understand your profession.

Tiggs,

That is exactly what you are saying even after you clarify it. Saying I would believe it more if my friends complained. Now you having said you would "believe it if your friends said it" does imply, infer, intimate and allude to some predisposition to not believing the CH's on the forum.

Even when I do complain in the game, it is along the lines of something being broke that effects every profession. MY friends are not Devs. No need to complain. When I even mentioned I cannot wait until Buffs are redone by the Combat Revamp I saw a twinkle of hatred in my friends toon.

Oh btw no one is suggesting you did not write the stuff down and are not going to present it. The question I think appears how will you present it if you have this bias to believe your friends?

Remember that any poll taken with fewer people that represent the population is biased. The classic photograph of the headline "DEWEY WINS" shows this. The only people polled had telephones. At that time only rich people had telephones. Of course rich people were going to vote Republican.

So statiscally speaking the stats you have here are more indicative of the CH population.

Our grind is longer. Our XP comes slower, we have no AOE to insta-kill and get 15K XP at once. Novice is meaningless. BE pets make anything but the 0004 tree meaningless. We have no niche. We are useless in PvP. We are barely sustainable in PvP, any other combination+armor+buffs is better.

Why are we MCH? We are that cool.

No it is not what I am saying but your decision is made about it and even hearing it from the person that typed it out won't change your mind. I have no problem agreeing on disagreeing. I do however have a problem with my words being twisted around =) As far as being biased, you picked the wrong person. I think what is being forgotten here is my job is to relay information from you to the Dev team and vice versa.

Regardless if my friends think there is a problem or not has no bearing on your (CH community) feelings. Like I said before your feelings are all valid with me and I will never argue with anyone about something they feel passionate about.

Now I will say in my opinion when multiple people feel the same way about how something works/ isn't working it only confirms that 1. something may be broke, 2. Something was not communicated properly on how it should have worked and it is taken as being broken or 3. something is working as intended but it is not working for the community. My job is to relay it to the team so we can figure out which it is and correct the problem... one of the reasons for this thread =)

So thank you for your input and for reminding me that with some professions I need to keep it on a more professional level then a laid back one so my words don't get twisted around. .

Just popping in to let you guys know I didn't forget about you. I sent out an email questioning the policy and I am still waiting on a response. Everyone is very busy with JtL going from beta to launch so it may take a few days.

I think that the proffesion of CH needs to be improved in many many ways. We are a very underpowered proffesion at the moment and as a CH I personally dont appreciate ALL other combat proffesions are infact better than ours. With CH as a combat proffesion I believe it should be treated as such and given a lot more strengths in order to contend with all of the other awsome combat proffesions. The proffesion of CH has greatly been reduced in power and EVERY person I have ever talked to about it tells me that it is the most worthless proffesion there is due to how much the developers screwed it up. I have come to understand that in the begining days of SWG the proffesion of CH was actually fun and enjoyable. Now its been reduced in almost all of its aspects. Its extremely hard to get exp, its hard to kill other things with pets, pets often die, and many many more things. Our proffesion of CH needs to be recognized as a real combat proffesion and it should sure as heck be treated as one by being just as strong as the rest. Other people can go with master teris kasi and master rifleman and others choose master ch and something else and we WILL die every time against them because our pets are easily killed and stand no chance whatsoever against other players and even a lot of creatures. Please recognise our proffesion and make some improvments to it!

With this profession you definately have 2 out of 3.

1. "something may be broke" /points to bug list that has only grown in the past year

2. "Something was not communicated properly on how it should have worked and it is taken as being broken" Hmm....Back in december the devs "communicated" to those who were playing at that time that masters would not be affected in PvE. Now it is belived that that is how its supposed to work, but in pratice we are a hinderance to any kind of combat in this game. So many here think the profession is "broken".

3. "however something is working is not working for the community" Im not quite clear on what you mean by this could you please clarify?

I find this post VERY disturbing. You are basically saying that nothing that we say matters and that we are all wrong and that just because your ch friends dont complain we shouldnt eathier. Also, why are dissing trolls? You are refering to thread trolls right? The common term that I know of as a person that has a ton of posts and just hangs out here. That could actually be considered harrassment. "I am all out of troll food today"... Whats up with that? Its a fact that many many things are wrong with the CH profesion but people dont tend to complain because thats not a good trait to have if you havent noticed. People dont like people who just complain all the time.

It's true that many items carry similar weight with us. It will be hard to narrow down the major issues to just one or two.

Respectfully,

I think I see the same couple of issues that keep rearing their ugly heads, don't you TK?

To be honest there is so much I could say here.....but it all seems to be going downhill

I will just leave it with the post that Vert has stickied. I think this sums it up nicely

Vert :

1. Many more creatures should spawn babies than currently are. Every creature under CL 70 should have at least a chance of spawning a baby

2. Profession no longer has a niche in which it is particularly valuable. Melee players provide better tanking and damage-dealing, while Bio-Engineers sell better pets. CH needs to be more valuable in both PvE and PvP

3. More pet storage. Either an increase to the number of pets that can be kept in the datapad, or the ability to drop stored pets off either in a regular house or a specialized 'stable' structure

4. Pets 'poof' back into datapad occasionally. Seems more common in crowded regions, in battle, or right after dismounting a mount

5. Some pets run away when they come under attack in battle (more common with some body types than others). May be related to creatures having different ‘ideal attack ranges’ that they constantly try to move to

6. The special attacks "Poison," "Disease," and "Knockdown" do not work with the specialattack1 and specialattack2 training commands. The useranged training command switches pets to Ranged Attack mode, but cannot switch them back to melee

7. Fix the Publish9 functionality that would remove pet vitality loss from factional deaths, to be consistent with normal item decay rules

8. Mounts need to be valuable when compared to vehicles. Current mount advantages are not enough. Suggestions include improved mounted combat, improved mount speed/gallop, improved mount selection. "Flying" (hovering – not true atmospheric flight) mounts

9. Mounted pets that have been ordered to attack a target more than 65 meters away will "stall" and refuse to move toward it

10. Ongoing pathing problems (pets start moving very slowly or stop following altogether)

11. No perceived advantage to using one’s Taming skills instead of just buying Bio-Engineered pets. Money is easy enough to acquire that "worse but free" does not feel very rewarding to Tamers

12. Fix the Publish 10 functionality that would allow pets to be callable from the toolbar

13. The /tellpet command sometimes will not work for players. This generally happens in isolated episodes for players, both preceeded and followed by tellpet working perfectly with the exact same pets and commands

14. Pet-calling delay of any length is not needed outside of combat, as specific examples of 'exploit' behavior haven't been produced. Particularly given the fact that creatures are the only "weapon" that cannot be "equipped" while already in combat

15. Ability to sell tame CH pets on vendor/bazaar

16. Some pets stand right on top of their owner unless the formation commands are used

17. Pets sometimes cannot be healed with stims/pet stims when incapped, and the new "Incapacitation Recovery" ability does not always seem to work in these cases

18. Rancor does not seem as powerful as has been established by Star Wars continuity. Even the weakest rancor should be a high end predator that is feared by players

19. Pets need more variety in desired properties besides just Light Armor and Kinetic Resist. Varied damage types, armor piercing, and creature-unique "droid module" type functionality

20. Multiple wild pets are not nearly as effective as one big one (reverse seems to be the case for BE pets). Perhaps implement something similar to the Ultima Online "pack instincts" system

21. Mount wearables/armor such as we have seen concept art for in online developer interviews

22. Make wild creature stats better reflect baby rarity (very rare creatures should have power commensurate with their rarity)

23. Creature Handler "Epic Quest" (similar to RIS armor) with a valuable reward (i.e. unique pet, one-time use "tame adult" ability, etc)

24. Ability to carry items on mounts (using them as 'pack animals' as seen in the films)

25. Prevent pets from losing their buffs when stored/auto-stored

26. More variety in creatures/pets in the wild. Different colors, slightly different capabilities, etc within a species

27. Allow CH XP to be exchanged for Force Sensitive Combat and/or Reflex XP (particulary since Force Sensitive Survival is a Reflex branch)

28. Prevent pets from "stealing" the faction point reward from their master for participating in a faction kill

29. More meaningful error messages when a pet trade fails (currently says "Too many pets" even if that’s not the actual reason the trade failed)

30. Remove the "pet trade in" program from NPC Creature Handler Trainers. This has outlived the reason for which it was created, and now only serves to create confusion

31. XP rewards for successfully taming/training do not scale appropriately with creature difficulty (more XP should be awarded for taming/training more powerful creatures)

32. Implement an easy way to see your active pets’ HAM without having to group with them (large groups of players tend not to allow much room for grouped pets)

33. CH-specific missions and content (i.e. 'Taming' missions) available from terminals and/or NPCs

34. More new pet commands/tricks

35. Take away the (baby) part of a pet’s name when it reaches full growth (or allow pets to display "titles" showing their species)

36. Ability to train pets through the commandline (i.e. /train followme Follow)
