Hiya Tiggs,

Here's my Master Droid Engineer main issues:

1. Some means of returning customers - decay, or continuously needed droids for the public at large (enough of these "this profession can use this module, but you need 4/0/0/0, and then you need to blah blah blah). Make droids that everyone can use, and will WANT to use, day in and day out.

(here's just a quick example) A droid that can ship 10 items out of your inventory, and into your bank account (from any planet) or to your house (from any planet, to any planet). I can't tell you how many times I've gotten out into a battle, and realized I didn't drop something off at home - my good armor, some resources - and I'm out of space for loot. Voila, a droid to resolve the problem. Maybe integrate this with the "mailbox" idea for houses, where the droid puts the stuff in your "mailbox" slot on a house for you to pick up - when you get back home. This "mailbox" storage would be above and beyond the item storage limits of houses, but it will delete items left in the "mailbox" for longer than 7 days (short timespan to make abusing it a total pain in the rear). Make this process easy to use - not dependent on anyone, not unnecessarily and inconveniently restricted by some strange rules no one understands, easy and simple.

2. Speaking of easy and simple, could we please make Droids more accessible to the masses? An SOE-created (and in-game advertised) site so that people can read and understand what the heck droids can do, and how they work? People are amazingly ignorant regarding droids - and it's no surprise. They're unncessarily complex to understand, and difficult for any outsider to walk up and say to a DE, "I want a 10 item storage, Tailor crafting, and Data storage module R2 droid." Most will just say, "What can droids do?" How is anyone supposed to answer that in casual conversation, let alone explain to someone why they can't use a merchant barker droid because they don't have Merchant Advertising IV? I would have a LOT more customers if droids weren't so restricted in use all over the place, and confusing to understand. You guys need to help us inform the public - they're totally uninformed at this point. Ignorance breeds fear, fear leads to avoidance, avoidance keeps us from making droid sales.

3. COMBAT DROIDS. If I could make Droidekas, I would be a RICH, RICH Wookiee right now. People always ask for them. Cut us some slack, let us build 'em for the love of god! Heh.

Thanks, Tiggster.

On the CH forum? You're kidding, right?

Some on the CH forum will find this surprising, but *I* am a complainer. In-game with friends, I often let loose with my thoughts about various aspects of the game. On these forums though, I try to be objective and constructive and not just because the Community Policies say I need to be -- it's just not productive.

As I posted earlier in this thread, many of the issues some of the more ... vocal CHs have are communication related. They feel they have been miscommunicated to as well as not communicated to at all in regards to certain things. The cranky feeling from some of the posts are a reflection of that and I think regardless of what you say it will continue until you either ban them or improve communication (to include the setting of proper expectations which is half the problem here). I would hope that the bannings/suspensions would be minimal but I hope you can drive better communication to the community so that people don't feel their only recourse is to act out in violation of the policies that do get them banned.

Personally, I think there have been several missteps with how SOE has handled CHs but I am grateful the newbie (aka Tiggs) is eager to listen, understand, and solve the root problems to make things better over the long term.

Tiggs, first thanks for coming to the board to see what the issues are. As a fomer Master CH I have to echo the frustration I have had with the class when it comes to PvP.

As an example of what I mean by that - I had a situation occur prior to an Imperial raid in Anchorhead a few months ago. A fellow MCH and myself had just arrived and having picked up a hint that a raid was pending shortly, we went overt so we could get into the action. (I was also a novice commando / Flame 4 and my friend was a novice BH/ LLC 3. We both had out our max level pets - at the time, he had out a BE'd Gurreck and I had out two Giant Anglers.)

When the attack came, I was down with thesecond shot - a Master BH had sniped me with fire kd and taken me down - I got off the attack command to my anglers before he incapped me, but that was it. My friend sent his gurreck in and started in with his LLC. He fired two shots before the MBH took him down too. All our pets were taken out right after that. We were sure this was the raid we had been expecting, it wasn't. He was the scout for the raiding party and took us and our pets down on his own.Had CH been an effective class, at least the pets would have held him at bay until we could have gotten up and gotten back into the fray. As it stood, he made quick work of our pets and us.

CH is great in PvE - makes sitting back and taking out lairs, etc... really simple, and they're great tanks. However, to get into the MMORPG side of the game, other players - simply not effective - unless you do what I did and get something like TKM to back up CH - but then, you don't need them in combat anymore.

Now, don't get me wrong. I loved getting MCH. I loved the taming aspect of it and the thrill of crawling up to a rancor lair to tap it and tame a baby still sends adrenaline rushing throughme. However...the class requires so many skill points for it not to be effective either in combat, or to sell pets to others as a way of income, just makes it more burdensome than fun. So, reluctantly,I had to surrender my CH skills.

If the issues with pet effectiveness in PvP are resolved, or the combat balance gives back the prestige of the class in combat, I'll strongly consider returning.

Not be pessimistic but that is the last DEV post, we will see for a long time. I doubt Tiggs will EVER come back.

My number 1 issue for the DE profession right now would be return customers, i.e. some reason for customers to return to my shop on a semi-regular basis to purchase new items. I would like this to involve purchase of new droids/droid items and not require my personal attention/involvement as I do not wish to before a service profession (personal preference).

If I am allowed to list other issues then these would be (in order of importance):

  1. Something worthwhile to build at novice DE so that it is possible to progress in the profession without mindlessly grinding MSEs.

  2. Chassis differentiation/bonuses to give a reason for people to use something other than just Advanced R3s. The existing MSE +10/20 bonus to detonation rating is an example of this and something I would like to see more of.

  3. Clearer stats on the deed. What exactly does a storage module rating of 13 mean anyway? (Yes, that was a rhetorical question )

  4. Bug fixes - Naming conversational droids, item storage in the surgical chassis & structure maintenance modules to name the most important three.

  5. More talkative conversational droids.

  6. More utility. Make droids more useful.

I've probably missed something but that should keep you busy for a while .

Tiggs,

That is exactly what you are saying even after you clarify it. Saying I would believe it more if my friends complained. Now you having said you would "believe it if your friends said it" does imply, infer, intimate and allude to some predisposition to not believing the CH's on the forum.

Even when I do complain in the game, it is along the lines of something being broke that effects every profession. MY friends are not Devs. No need to complain. When I even mentioned I cannot wait until Buffs are redone by the Combat Revamp I saw a twinkle of hatred in my friends toon.

Oh btw no one is suggesting you did not write the stuff down and are not going to present it. The question I think appears how will you present it if you have this bias to believe your friends?

Remember that any poll taken with fewer people that represent the population is biased. The classic photograph of the headline "DEWEY WINS" shows this. The only people polled had telephones. At that time only rich people had telephones. Of course rich people were going to vote Republican.

So statiscally speaking the stats you have here are more indicative of the CH population.

Our grind is longer. Our XP comes slower, we have no AOE to insta-kill and get 15K XP at once. Novice is meaningless. BE pets make anything but the 0004 tree meaningless. We have no niche. We are useless in PvP. We are barely sustainable in PvP, any other combination+armor+buffs is better.

Why are we MCH? We are that cool.

Ran a small experiment myself

Had my CH Duel my alt

My Alt is a MAster Swords and he was doing auto attack

My pet ( Screecher) was buffed, Emboldened, Enraged, and on food.
I was trying to use Pet Stims E's to try and keep him alive while he fought my alt.

My pet did not hit my alt once.
I used two Stims healing for 2000 on my pet.

My Screecher was incapped in 8 Hits.

Truly sad state of the prof in PVP.

Tiggs - I know a lot of CH'ers that dont complain. But they never PVP.

Here is the thing -
Creatures do Kinetic damage and they are not armor piercing attacks - so they dont do any damage to players with armor.
They have a a very low chance to hit other PVP'ers
They take full damage from players.

I'm a Master CH and Master Doc - Now i dont want be l33t as a CH'er, but i do want my tanks to be able to tank in pvp. Even if they didn't do as much damage - i would still be content to have my pets last.

PS. JFreeman is the man and a Red Name. Wish all the Dev team were people exactly like him. He showed no ill intent. Made a mistake, ADMITTED IT, FIXED IT and earns our respect. I wish the whole Dev team were comprised of people as earnest and willing as he is to make the game better.

Hiya Tiggs! It was really great to hear you reply once again in this thread. I too was beginning to think you stopped following it. Now to your comment as to not being able to stop afking due to the powers that be, why not suggest making a new server or two that have it against policy from the get go? That way people can't say that they didn't know, or it used to always be that way there. I know many people would be reluctant to move to a new server, but I believe that there are enough of us out there that wouldn't mind pulling up stakes and moving to a place where afking is not allowed and monitored. Not only entertainers but the combat professions and healers who also dislike afking. I also think that such a server would have a bit more stable economy since people wouldn't be on 23/7 and thus couldn't amass the current amounts of loot/creds they can now. This would also attempt to stop the afk samplers who can pull more resources out of the ground than a heavy extractor. I know it's not the sollution that everyone wants. I personally would rather have it fixed to where I wouldn't have to leave my server, but I would do it if it was decided that afking was going to be allowed on the majority of servers, but not allowable on a set of new or already existing servers. Thanks for reading.

It would also pull nearly every live entertainer from the main servers and leave them only with bots and macrotainers

eh again the old addage "becareful of what you wish for it just might come true"

Well think of it this way the value of the product to the customer is paramount. If the customer does not think the end product is worth it then what will happen is rather than buying more they will buy less. What happend before non CH pets were nerfed? everyone had pets and prior to that CH was the flavor of the month because they could have 3 pets out! It did indeed make them too powerful but now where is the need for a non ch pet? How many non CHs do you see having their pet tank for them...given the buff factor and the weakness of the pets now there is really no use or need for them. So when you ask for things like decay be very careful what you ask for as it could quickly backfire. If something like decay is implimented to increase the need for replacements then it must be offset by an increase in versitility. If a droid is to decay like armor it has to be as valuable as armor. combat droids with a bit more ham and armor rating would increase the need for the droid and its decay would increase demand. The market for non combat droids would be based on what sort of decay? There are very few entertainersthat use droids now if they are to decay over time we won't sell any. There are a number of aspects of the game that droids could be utilized for if implimented properly but mark my words if you impliment decay on droids without an increase in versitility and abilities what you will get is alot of people only buying mse droids with medical modules by the crate and nothing else.
