BULL**edit**.

Tell him to go fix his CL calculation program, not the stupid 'call' check. After all the efforts we put in to make the pets, you are just going to say 'invalid'?

This isSOE's definition ofQUALITY WORK ???

If this stupid game is suppose to be a player driven economy then rare or high stats ona creature that is CRAFTED should be allowed. As long as its something that is not mass produced and takes blood sweat and many generations to craft, it should be legal. It is like a rare drop item in 99.99% of the other MMORPGs out there that actually have real loot. But SONY is determined to mess this up as bad as they can, and will continue to nerf every profession until all that is left is Thunderheart and Q3P0 in a unending make out session with each other.

Like Remilliod's example proves, some CL10s are completely out of the acceptable range. Then there are the dasher/pup mixes which are vulnerable to nearly everything but kinetic and blast, are usually 4k/3k/2k, the kind I make and sell a ton of. I live on Dantooine, and I pride myself on making some of the best of these I can (sometimes with a poison special at the expense of a little HAM and kinetic). Now, I'm afraid to make these.

I agree that some things are out of line. I do not agree that the dasher/pup mixes are out of line, but that isn't the point of this. I don't have to agree, and that's okay with me. Sure, I'd like to have a say in this, since I spend a great deal of my time making low level pets (my specialty), but I personally don't consider it necessary. If they have a vision of what they want, terrific. I don't want to break that for them. But I absolutely stand by my request that they tell us what this vision is.

I don't consider it an unreasonable request. We just want to know what we can safely make and sell, so as not to defraud our customers. I'm hoping to make some cu pas and banthas, so that these can be grown and ready for mount training. (Some of us still use mounts, now and again.) I have no intention of criticizing, only offering helpful commentary. I don't want to argue.

But we deserve an answer in this, so that we can continue to do business. What is "too much"?

Yes, that is a good example of a cl10 creature that should not be allowed. How it got through SOEs internal testing (*cough*), I'll never know.

That said, some of the examples that Talthazar listed didn't seem at all out of line for me. Too bad they won't lower themselves to tell their paying customers what kind of formula for acceptability they are using...

I just bought a CL10 Gurreck with about 4K health, 3K action and 2K mind. Full grown it will do about 50-55 damage. It has a 10% resist to kinetic and two others that I don't remember right now. And it has dizzy strike. Did I waste 30k? Is the next pulish going to come out and leave me with a CL10 chubba?

Ketryn the gurreck you bought is a fairly standard CL10 BE made pet. Probably made from the Voritor Dasher / Hurton Pup recipe.

These pets have been sold by the bucketload on all servers. If SOE make them invalid there will be a lot of unhappy people.

Its the super 10k health 45 kinetic resist pets that they should be fixing. I hope they leave your one alone. Its not really that overpowered in my opinion.

the comment about 0 resist and vuln being the same is wrong. in Qs primer on armor he said that vuln add 25% to the damage.

Sorry, never seen that in practice (and remember the primer a little differently). From the armor primers, vulnerabilities are there so you don't get the armor rating vs. that attack type (nor any specific resistance). It doesn't add EXTRA damage, it allows damage through cleanly.
You see the extra damage using Armor piercing 1 or better (light->heavy) weapons that hit that vulnerability, because the armor rating no longer applies (so it's like hitting an unarmored person with the AP vs. AR0 damage increase that the primers also describe).
Do quote me an official message that says vulnerabilities actually cause extra damage, or a screenie of combat spam saying 100 and the number floating up being 125(on a vulnerable no armor critter, not using an armor piercing weapon), being wrong on this won't make me unhappy.

Here's a crazy one i made tonight:

Health: 6170

Action: 3891

Mind: 2688

Kinetic Resist: 21

Heat Resist: 9

(all other resists are vulnerable)

220-230 damage w/ strong disease and strong poison

ranged attack

is THIS a level 10?

no, it most certainly is not.

it's a LEVEL 9 !!!!!!! (thats right, i said NINE)

does this sound right to anyone?

by the way, it was from throwing together bits of 2nd generation dna and fresh dna from endor.

Update: My little CL5 trash critter was callable tonight. No idea what changed, both of my characters that were unable to call it can (he got traded around a lot), and my previously working-then-broken spats are no longer giving me invalid messages.
My CSR ticket was amusing, they said they couldn't address it at this time.

As friends asked: Did you have a droid out? Answer is no, almost certain I didn't (can't imagine having droids out on two characters at the same time anyway, honestly), but if I did the message was off from what I remember of the two-pets-at-once message.

But my outrage over the invalid stat checker is, at least for the moment, soothed. A little. We still vastly need explicit 'this is too much' from the devs, along with a detailed writeup on the cloning system and its interactions internally.

The question to ask yourself, if/when your pet does become invalid, is did you get value for money for the amount of time you were able to use it? If you get a good month of use from something that only costs 30k and have a productive and fun time using it, then how is that a waste of money?

True, true.

If they are doing this to appease the creature handlers, I hope that do something to appease us bioengineers who enjoy crafting pets. Perhaps, remove certain spawning babies and give us bioengineers the schematics for them. I am sort of sick of hearing creature handlers complaining about uber babies with the cool looking body forms they can not find.

I've tried hunting with my "overpowered" lvl 10 4k health 6% Resist. It isnt feasible even against pikets. You have to chain heal them almost constantly in a fight. I like having more options as a player and to continually strip my options and force me to play in a group with my odd schedule isn't always time permiting. I dont mind burning through pet stims. It's a choice I like to have. I hate it to be taken away.

Maybe there is a fast way to make these 4k health pets. I have to use 3rd or 4th generation combines to get the health and lvl right. The most fun I have is the challenge to bring the lvl down and everything else up. I feel that I'm being punished for all my hard work. I hope as they take away our options on pet creations they add other alternatives to keep it exciting. Perhaps random rare pet creations. Something!

I have been thinking about this for a little bit and Im really beginning to think that there is a reason why they dont to tell us what is right for a lvl 10 pet.they must believe we can work it out by ourself.

Listen, On the BE FAQ, its explains there that we can make pets better by about 10-15% using good componants and samples to its equivelent. So, by basically going to SWG Creatures.com ands looking at all the lvl 10creatures you can come up if a figure easily.

I coulnd find a single wild lvl10 critter with aHAM larger than 2k, the best i could find was a mutant bark mite hatchling:

http://www.swgcreatures.com/detail.asp?creatureID=507

This creature has a HAM of 1.8k, 10% Resists and damage is Unknown, so if for example I BE one of these with a 3.6K HAM then thats a 100% increase!!

Can you see what im getting at now?
