Fired up my structure factory for the first time to produce some components that have to be factory made. My factory cranked out 35 ore mining units, then shut down when it ran out of a resource. The problem is I can't pull out the crate... when I open the output hopper, it shows each individual ore mining unit, which I can pick up 1 at a time but there is no option to remove the entire crate.

What am I doing wrong?

ore mining units don't come in a crate.... you get em1 at a time... they're still identical and will work in the schematic, but for some odd reason there's a few things that don't crate.

Ok i want to do a couple of fac runs(i havnt done this ever so correct me if im way off) of advanced stim b's and i already have 100 premade acrdm's, abec's and als's. My question is this for the first run of 50 i add the three comps plus ingredients for the final 2 org and inorg slots right. If so for the second run can i vary those last two slots as long as the 3 components are pre-made?

Or do i have to use all three comps and the extra 2 slot ingredients and make a schem for a complete stim b with all the ingredientsthen do a final run?

Hope this makes sense, if not please try to tell me what you mean and Ill try to be more explanitory. I just dont want to set my factory up and try it without knowing how to first.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thankx,

Kynin

Your subcomponents all have serial numbers. When you make the prototype for the Stim-B, the serial numbers of the subcomponents will be coded into the schematic.

So to mass produce your Stim-B, the crates of subcomponents must have the exact same serial number as shown on the 'List ingredients needed' in the schematic.

If you only want a crate of 50 Stim-B, then either set your schematic to 50 or only put 600 organics/inorganics in the factory.

I'm almost to Master Doc and I've been waiting to get a factory until I was at the top of the field... most experimentation points and all that. Are they cost effective? Obviously they are or there wouldn't be so many out there, but I don't have a vendor or skills to aquire a vendor, so anything I made would be sold on bazaar or by SHOUTING

I'm currently buying Enhance D's and selling the buffs. Do you guys mass produce your Enhance Packs or do you make them by hand? Wondering if getting the factory would make my profit margin bigger or not? Should I just keep buying the Enhance D's?

Also on factories, who can access them? Only the owner or is there an admin list like houses? ( I don't have a house yet either, so not really sure how that works)

The power is only needed when it's actually running, what about the maintenance fee - everyday or only when it's in operation?

Can you pick up the factory and move it? Thought I saw somebody say that they put the factory down whereever or whatever planet their operating on at the moment.

I think I understand the actual production steps from the FAQ's site, so those were my only questions... I think.

Thanks for any help!

I might suggest that you find someone who has a vendor available on the plenetary map. If they do they are likely high enough up in the merchant tree to have multiple vendors available to them. Those marchants are the folks that you can try and make some kind of resale deal with. Either you can rent a vendor from them, or you can sell them product at a reduced rate, that they sell on their vendor at a higher price, or you can pay them some fee to sell your products on their vendor (although that process takes a certainl level of trust with the mrechant in question.) This way you have a much better chance of getting your product out there in an easier way than by shouting and that would allow you to sell crates and such that avoid the 3k sales cap on the bazaar.

If I were doing more buff sales I would probably do more to factory produce them. Overall, though, I find that It's just as easy to make them by hand as needed. There is a lot to be said for the convenience of having a a crate of 10 buffs in it, though. As to the profit margin of making your own over buy the packs... that on is hader to say and generally revolves around not only the costs associated with getting the resources needed for the components, but also how much your time is worth. It may be worth it to accept a somewhat lower obvious profit margin on your enhances by buying the components or even the enhances themselves, than to make them on your own. It's really a matter o personal preference and how much the hassle of getting everything you need really is.

Just keep in mind that doing it on your own normally implies that you will have to factor in a lead time for getting the resources and then for the time it takes for hhte factory even to just produce the crates of a subcomponent you need.

Also on factories, who can access them? Only the owner or is there an admin list like houses? ( I don't have a house yet either, so not really sure how that works)

There is an admin list and a hopper list just like harvesters. So you can give others persmission to have full access to the factory, or to only have access to the hoppers on the factory if you want some firend to just be abel to get stuff out of there or to put stuff into it, but not to be able to operate the factory.

The power is only needed when it's actually running, what about the maintenance fee - everyday or only when it's in operation?

Like most things, maint is collected whether or not itis operational. That's your biggest cost for a factory rigt there, really.

Can you pick up the factory and move it? Thought I saw somebody say that they put the factory down whereever or whatever planet their operating on at the moment.

Yes. Like any other structure a factory that has enough maintenance paid up in it can be "re-deeded" for a price.

1. Factories are time efficient. Time=money, so yes they will save you money

2. You can put other on the admin list to use the factory

3. Power when running, and I think money only when running

4. You CAN redeed a factory to move it. It cost money to do.

I spent a week making all the things I need for the next couple months. I made Stims, wound packs, buffs, status cures, the works. You need a nice stockpile of the same resources to do this, but you will actually have more time to play the game and BE a doctor than sit around hand crafting meds (which I don't enjoy).

Good luck, hope this helps

Yes, the guild members and myself search for it every day, everywhere. I just think, if a specific resource is going to be a requirement, then it should be available, nomatter how rarely, at *some* point. Milk and mollusk are another issue....

I make a good profit selling mass-produced stims from my factory, its some nice added income and pretty easy to do, plus the factory is useful for making my own stim D's (not quite to E's yet).

I don't know if there is a Factory FAQ out there but I couldn't find it. How does the maint. and power work. Do they only need maintence while running - or does the counter just keep on counting when it's just placed and idle?
