thats a good point.. peopel who "waste" points in psych DO get a lower cl.. but perhaps its cause they aren't adding it to somewhere else.. who knows.. but think about it.. what's the difference? why not just toss it into the psych anyway? the only way to NOT raise the cl is to waste the points.. what could it hurt? we knowf or sure that adding points into psych vs. aggression lowers the cl.. maybe it's just NOT raising the cl.. but it can't be a bad thing.. (unless just not experimenting gives even a LOWER cl than psych..)..
i'd like someone to test this as well (haha im such a manager position, not a grunt)... i'll be seeing what else i can whip up.. and i'll keep things posted here.. the biggest concern of mine is... phys/aggr and how the specials are adjusted, whether armor or something matters, whether it's random, etc...
It wouldn't seem out of place at all for the algorithm to weight higher quality DNA samples over lower quality ones, as well as weighting each slot to a purpose.
Some of you may want to try all the same quality dna except one higher quality and try it different slots to see if it weights traits from higher quality samples overtraits from lower quality samples.
And for ranged, there are 3-4 types and levels of womp rats on tatoinne with ranged attacks, as well as woorts, mountain woorts and giant woorts that have ranged attacks. And don't forget rock beetles and cupas.
The largest aggro greater desert womp rats are very plentiful and may make a good mid level ranged sample.
Lots of levels and resistances to choose from.
I did not experiement on the Psychology stuff at all, just agression and I made two creatures one that did 2 times more daamge then the other one, but the higher damage creature was a lower CL.
So I am under the impression, Damage does not impact the CL very much at all.
I just got through getting some Scent Camoflage clothing.
To increase my mask scent.
Anywise, many things can take the components, but unfortuantely Field Wear Items need factory Crate Items of the Scent Neutralizing stuff we make.
Except for a Bandolier, Cammoflage pants, and the form fitting under shirts which can take one component each.
The ones that require factory components are Most of the jackets. Coincidentaly the Gloves and Boots and Containers cannot get any special attachments we make.
on a side note, Swoop helms and Male Smocks can get up to three components from us, but the limit on the bonus they confer is +25 each.
So anywise, I suggest if you want special Mask Scent CLothing or other special CLothing made, bring along extras of the Enhancement things you can make.
Most Tailors will take those instead of cash, and will give you anything you want, since most of them cannot get their hands on those components.
Oh yes....
Pickets from Dantooine have very nice 65% resits on Acid, Heat and Cold, no real good specials unless stunning strike is good.
While the Quenkers have a nice ranged attack(it does alot of damage) btu nothing else that very good.
Voritors.....ugh...the DNA from these things is the worst.
So anywise, I am planning on trying to see what the exact ratios for the resistances to the final template are.
After all, I am sure we will be able to get to a point that we will all be making things with at least 65% resistance on everyhting.
Big big difference actually. In fact huge difference. You're only thinking in terms of a single dna combine process. I have got a bunch of dna samples with 1000+ phych (I forget what the actual pair stats are called) that I got from sampling yard trash, combining the yard trash, and putting all exp points into psych.
Now, If I was making some fiendishly powerful CL 15 critter, and putting all my exp points into moving its damage and physicalup to god-like levels, I could theoretically insert this "super phych" dna and lower the CL down to 10 (or whatever).... if it worked that is.

Some do, some don't. no shirts do, no pants do (require factory RFP), but 3 jackets do and the body suits do. It's about 50-50 really.

Swoop helms and male smocks? *shiver* nobody buys those, lol. Is that what you're wearing? ROFL. There are about a dozen items in the tailoring tree that allow you to stack in such a way that you can get up to +25 bonus in a single item. The most popular of whichincludethe bustiers for females, the wookiee sage hood, the comfortable slacks (and several other types of really nice pants as well), the leather trim shirt, the sunguard hat, and the robe of honor. Like I said, lots more too, but those are the most popular ones.
These pertain to synthetic cloth only! So the +25 bonuses (I call them "double bonus items") are for medical, entertainer, and CH enhancements only.
I did some very minimal experimenting this morning. All these posts are great! I just wanted to note that I had 3 of the same DNA in Phys, Prowess and Mental and 2 single DNAs in Psych and Agression. The single DNA Special 1 in agression came thru fine and the 3 came out as Special 2. So, as far as breeding special 1 Im guessing all you need is one DNA sample and to put that in agression? Ill test more on it tonight.
Also, just to confirm. AoE specials do NOT work in BE clones? Im guessing the reason for this is due to it being too strong in PvP.

I'm finding it impossible to control the CL of creatures precisely. A customer wanted a lvl 20 bol. So trying different things with dna I made a lvl 10, a lvl 11, a lvl 25 and finally a lvl 18 bol which I sold to him. So 3 sets of dna wasted to make one that the customer could use. Considering bioengineering is a "science", cloning seems entirely a trial and error process.

You are right, what you are doing is a random trial and error process and not science.
But, if you write down what you did for each of those clones. Repeat what you did several times times and publish your results and conclusions in detail on this forum so others can attempt to reproduce work and verify or invalidate it then will you be doing science.
Science it is just a name for a structured process of approaching exploration of the unknown.
Well, the other part to that is that unless you have a "recipe" you're probably not going to nail it perfectly on the initial combine anyway. You're probably going to need to go through some refinements. So you have a CL 25 critter instead of a CL 20 critter. No problem, get some dna from it, take it back to the lab, and make it what you want.

ok... well.. **edit**..
lol
i found out how to get close enough to an enraged rancor to dna sample it.. w/o being a ranger.. using my speeder bike, my self stim b's, a lot of patience, my mask scent, my mask scent clothing, and the fact that they beat the crap out of eachother every time they want to eat me trying to decide who gets to eat me first..
i managed to get 20+ samples in.. all failures.. some breaking scent, some aggro from fail w/o breaking scent, and some just continuing to dna sample.. but either way, i ended up with 0 samples..
no this is not an enraged BULL rancor.. it's a normal enraged rancor.. is it likely for me to fail that much? or am i just out of it and there's really no chance to dna sample it?
either way, i learned i do NOT have to be a ranger. the end (btw... 60/100/100/100 resists.. droool)
Has anyone even approched CL 70 with out using the old baby DNA? Is is old right? or can you still get it?
