HQ corellian butterfly dna doesn't have a ranged attack =(
Perleks on Lok do, though.
Also, FYI, Gurks provide good resists (40% kinetic) and have a good pair of special abilities: Dizzy Strike and Stunning strike.
Lower level gurks, like the gurk whelp have blinding strike and intimidation, I think.

Just so there is no misunderstanding...he said he used:
"Mind: I used Corellian Butterfly Defender (ranged attack plus it is under CL 20 so helps lower the overall CL I believe)"

Hmm .. let's try this again ..
Anyways, my theory is probably pretty obvious...Physique pertains to Health, Prowess pertains to Action, Mental pertains to Mind...I haven't figured how Psychological fits in, but Aggression seems to be special attacks.
From what I've seen, Aggression is not 100% of the specials. There seems to be an element of numbers as well ... the more you have of a certain special, the more likely you are to get it in your final template. Aggression also seems to govern damage.
Not to mention if I don't start making my christmas candies soon, there'll be some very dissapointed people. After Christmas my time will free up a bit.
Cookies .. yum!!
In another thread the hypothesis seems to be that whatever you put in the Psychological slot influences the ranged attack you get.
From what I've seen this approach will be fairly consistant with yielding ranged templates. It's not 100% though .. although I haven't tried experimenting on psych if it didn't come out .. that might help. I know it does with the armor.
Through numerous experimentsI have managed to convince myself that experimenting in Psychology lowers end product CL.When I try to make low CL pets I use clone (dependability >1k) DNA in the Psych slot and just experiment Psych.
Interesting Theory ... I'll give it a gander tonight. I also like the idea of re-sampling clones from ArthurDent. I'll give that a try .. I get lots of funky HAM clones as I'm trying things out ![]()
The merek DNA had two specials (which elude me here at work), but the clone, a kwi, ended up having NO SPECIALS.
I've had this happen as well ... with Fambaa DNA, Bolle Bol DNA and .. umm ... Some kind of brackaset on Dathomir. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen sometimes.
I must admit that I'm new to BE and only took it up as a counter to my CH .. but ... I find that I'm loving the BE side more and more! It's great to see what everyone can create!
Yea, big big difference between Corellian Butterflies and Corellian Butterfly Defenders. Hope you don't mistake the two when hunting, rofl.
So far my favorite critters to get ranged attacks from are:
Corellian Butterly Defenders (CL 18, Corellia) => good for making CL 20ish level pets
Bagerasets (CL 10, Corellia) => good for making CL 10 pets (and easy to find)
And then all those nasty Merek spiders on Endor for making 20+ level pets
Favorite critters to get resists from:
Bark Mite Burrower (CL 49, 65% kinetic 40% energy, Endor)
Merek Harvester (CL 55, 75% kinetic, Endor)
Looking desperately for:
Gronda (CL 18, 50% kinetic 50% energy, Corellia)
Large Rock Beetle (CL 19, 75% energy 75% kinetic, Tat) <- never seen these before, but rarely go to Tat. Any sightings?

"Is this a limitation in the Kwi skin or am I missing something important here? My flora was 800-900s in all stats, and the meat was not much worse. "
Eck,
I think it's unique to your experience. I have a little yellow kwi with knockdown and a special 2 that escapes me right now (made with bol and voritor dasher DNA, by the way).
Also, since there's no experimentation on the final build, I don't think that your flora and food quality matter any more. Save the good stuff for tissues.
Gronda can be pulled with an LLC equipped, not sure if you need BH trained or not, but thats what I had when I pulled gronda was novice BH.
Problem is, I don't think I can pull grondo after the patch, but now I have LLC II. ![]()
big post..
okay here's my morning..
Giant baz nitch is 9k ham with 45 kinetic/energy spec prortect... nice eh?
gaping spider is 8k ham with 30 k/ 25en, crap specials, no ranged
gaping spider hunter 10k ham, 30kin/energy, 60 blast, stun, medium poison, ranged attack, ar1
gaping spider queen is 11k ham, 65 kinetic/energy (WOAAH!!), stun(?), medium poison, ranged, ar0
for p/p/m/p/a (man, i used pretty crappy organics)
aa queen, aa giant baz, aa hunter, aa giant baz, aa hunter, experimented 4phys, 3prow, 3aggr
result is: cl 31, 10k/10k/7k HAM, 400-410 dmg, stun/medium poison/range, 48 kinetic/energy, 34blast/acid, vuln rest of em...
vhq queen, vhq giant baz, hq hunter, vhq giant baz, hq grizzled dewback, exp: 6 phys, 3 prow, 1 aggr
result is: cl 27, 10k/9k/6k HAM, 240-250 dmg, KD/med poison/range, 50 kinetic, 46 energy, rest vuln
hq hunter, vhq giant baz, vhq queen, vhq giant baz, hq grizzled dewback, exp: 4 phys, 3 prow, 3 aggr
result is: cl 26, 9.6k/9.7k/6.4k HAM, 280-290 dmg, KD/Dizzy/range, 37 kinetic, 33 energy, 26 blast, rest vuln
from my experiences, combined with things that seem to be working but i havn't tested... here's what i THINK is going on.. don't quote me.. but lets see if we can confirm all of this.. and some of it was already stated by talth anyway..
phys is primary contributer to armor, health, and resists. This slot can contribute the 2ndary attack if the sample has no armor.. if the sample DOES have armor, then it won't do anything with the specials.. final product only gets armor if it's buff enuff... experimentation may make it buff enough.. but there's a cutoff somewhere.. not sure where.
prow and aggr contribute equally towards resists, prow goes for action, aggr goes for dmg and boy does it matter when you experiment.. up to 200 points for my 3 examples difference just cause i didnt experiment much... aggr will do the specials... note what i said above about the phys slot and specials..
ment for mind, it was stated that a hq or vhq ranged sample here will stick a ranged attack..
psych for lowering the overall CL.. but i've been trying to get a HIGH cl thingie by boosting the hell out of stuff.
if anyone can confirm or debunk any of that.. please do so.. lets keep a running thingie of info so talth doesn't have to piece together 5000 pieces over 5 pages of posts.. heh.. hope that helped... =(
also, i'd like some conclusions about organics and how much they matter... all of my pets are better than the wild ones that got nerfed.. but my pets still suck.. heh.. im just trying to figure out what does what so i can make the good ones.. i'd like to know whether i need good organics by the time we all figure it out
also, only make feline type bodies.. cause they run faster.. all the others are either slow up hills, slow to get to the prey, or something like that... i mean go ahead if you don't care or if you want it for rp value or whatever.. but on the lines of the BEST pet.. the felines are the best..
i'd like confirmation that kima/bjax/narglath are as fast as raxor cat please.. hehe.. if nobody figures this out soon, ill test it my self..
