FYI you can get close enough just with 4/0/4/0 scout and mask enhancing clothing (2 items).

What on aerth is with DNA sampling? Only 1 of ever 5 attempts works! How do I get to get anywhere with this skill if it is this unreliable? What were the devs thinking in creating a skill that works like this. No skill should ever fail; instead its degree of success should be a reflection of the character's skill.

I read the BE FAQ and i got DNA 1 by samplingnunas and such outside of Theed, but for DNA 2doing the trash will take ages. Is there anything at my level that i can sample thats more than 92xp and i dont hafta attempt 10 times just for a succesful sample. Or should i stick with the trash for another level? TIA

As you gain in skill you'll be able to sample many more times. At DNA IV I could get 6 or 7 sometimes.

I an a novice bio-engineer (0110). I was on last night sampling Banthas and eopie. Withsome of thebanthas I was able to sample the same beast three times and with the eopie twice. Pre patch I had the odd one I could sample twice but never three times. Is this a bug or what ?

Yea, I'm in the same boat, just started sampling....even tried an afk macro from this forum.....is it really this painfully slow? Just wondering if anyone had a more effective way?

nope, it really is that slow
Once you get past DNA 1 and maybe 2 it gets a lot better.
TBH you'd be better off not trying to grind DNA sampling and just let it happen, if you're wandering around and see a critter, sample it. If you're waiting for a shuttle go behind the starport and look for little things to sample. Once the yard trash levels are out of the way its not so bad, you can do piket missions on dantooine or try making some neat cl 10 pets with voritor dasher samples and hurrton pups.
Theres nothing you can do to make it go faster but you can make it a lot less painful on yourself

If you try to do all your sampling first, or all your crafting first, then you'll go blind, deaf and dumb. Mix them up and do other things to have fun so you don't lose your mind.

you can craft them in to templates to make more space in your bag and get some crafting XP at the same time, you could also sell the pets on the bazaar for a few credits.

Once I got up to DNA 3, I was able to do Pickets very easily for great xp, here was my trick for maximum effeciency.
I left out my speeder, got buffed and got armor.
I made a macro that just did a /sampleDNA every 10 seconds
I walked up to a picket, and started to milk it, and had my sample dna macro running
You can actually craft the samples in to generic dna templates while your sampling via your /sampleDNA macro (doesn't give a ton of xp, but gets em out of the inventory almost as fast as deleting them)
If you get attacked, and don't have combat skills, the armor and buffs should give you enough time to jump on your speeder and take off.
Thats what I did, and it worked great for me, and by the end had about 15k milk also

Thanks everyone for all the tips it helps. I think i'm gonna run around outside of Cnet and harvest as much as I can from butterflies and anything else I can find and then just craft while i'm doing that. Once I get to DNA 2 or 3 i'll try the Pikets.
