But there are solid quests that you could do it under.
Which any person could do.
One thing makes this depressing, goes against core elements of the SWG character building system, and is a break from 'continuity' (bit of a stretch, see if I have a point below) :
The utter dependence on the starting profession.
If:
a) secondary skills (as defined here) are a factor of 10 less important, then whats with stressing this misleading line of thought"don't feel trapped in your starting profession. If you decide you like to dance medic, dance. if you really wanted bash things, migrate those stats artist friend, pick up an axe, and enjoy. You can always sell back used skill points of professions you don't want latter to advance in the profession you settle upon."
b)selling back skill points loses the fs xp. example of bs above.
c) so luke was the best 'moisture farmer' and mastered all those skills before becoming force sensitive?? If it follows the continuity, in the time of SWG Jedi are not discovered at birth to be taken for training. They wander the galaxy and are stumbled upon. Nada says they have to be the best derned anything ever. (counter point I'll offer: its the starting professions that matter and not elite, so yeah Luke wasn't the best Chef, just a derned good farmer who was good at fixing moisture vaporators.)
If we are espousing conspiracy theory and hidden hints, then the dev comment of casual gamers would get there faster might actually hint to this being the case because in general, hardcore gamers knew just what they wanted and have never wavered.
If this reliance on profession at character creation was even hinted at, I would have deleted my starting Marksman on day two when I decieded to rely on ranged as a support to TKA and Fencer. And untill know I've always considered making other changes.
Just aggravating that trusting I could do the SWG version of a Liberal Arts Degree and still get to FS in a timely fashion, and instead find out that I needed to stick with my declared major of Engineering as a freshman in order to get a good job out of college. Wait. Thats true.
I do understand your point Sil. There are some basic things- that all things being equal, are common to all professions. However as I stated before, getting to the point of potentially unlocking your slot is not the bottleneck that will keep it rare.Although some will take longer than others, and I dont know if there are some dangerous red herrings along the way, eventually everyone will accumulate the points (unknowingly) to potentially unlock the slot. But...the bottleneck will not be reaching this potential it will instead be a profession specific quest, related to the profession you started with when you made you character. This quest will not automatically pop in front of you either. It has to be found. It's availability, and frequency will be determined by the Dev's based on the number of FS on the server, or any other factor they want to consider. How hard the quest will be can also be determined by the devs and altered as they see fit. However the quest will not ask the Master Chef to kill Rancors, or the gunfighter to bake cakes. It will fit the profession.

I would find this alot easier to believe if there were multiple templates.
If the FS meter is truly 'experience', then you shouldn't be able to lose it for any reason. Nowhere else in the game does your experience go down. I also didn't see anything in the original post about negative xp. If there are ways to lower it, it should be a faction meter, not xp. Faction (as many people know to their regret) can go down.
Don't get me wrong, I love this theory. It goes along with what I've always advocated: Play your character as you want, without trying to unlock the 'secret of the FS slot' and just enjoy the game for what it is.
fastgun, this is a really important question, so please tell me if you have an answer...
weighted non repeatable actions taht reset every 5 minutes....i assume that includes training skillsf rom your starting profession
are training those skills 1 time only, or can you train them every 5 minutes and still get the fs exp rewards?
Dahmer it is my understanding that major point givers like skilling up are solitary non-repeatable actions. Once you skill up, the points are given and I doubt are ever taken away, even if later you decide to surrender them and try other professions. The actions that can be repeated over and over again are limited by a timer and the points are generally low for those actions.

alright, i figured as much, as much as I had hoped it not true...heh
Could have potentially gotten the 1 million force exp in 83.3 hours
Fastgun: I really like this theory.. Makes a lot of sense to me, the concept of a template of additive points seems to fit most of the criteria.
One of the complaints that people are sticking on, though, is the idea of 'if there's a template, then given enough time, won't everyone have a FSC?'
My question: I've been looking through the FAQs.. Did the devs ever say that there will be a limit on FSCS's? Or, in fact, did they say that the limit would be on the JEDI population?
The two are completely seperate things, no? Finishing that template including the Hallmark quest would give you the FSCS.. you still have to work like hell to get that character to Jedi status, no? I mean.. where do you go to train? Haven't seen many Jedi trainers out there myself...
Just my two cents, really.
Droopu, yes that is very true the two are entirely seperate things. However just imagine for a moment that at some time in the future everyone has a FS slot. In some ways that would end the dynamics of the server. Simply because most people regardless of how hard it was and how many times they failed would be playing their force sensitive character, trying like hell to become a Jedi. The only time the original characters would come out would be to make a little money, or craft somthing for the potential Jedi.
I think the bottleneck for keeping the slot rare will be the availability of the Profession specific quests, because regardless ofwhat people may say, it would be very hard to resist the awesome challenge, and the rewards of playing a character that could one day become a Jedi Knight.

They have denied that there would be artificial limitations on either. They have claimed that both FS and Jedi-proper will be "very, very, very rare". They have stated that the principle reason for the slot itself is to make Jedi rare.
One other thing, call me Mr Skeptic...
If someone else claims that they have done this or that in game, or heard this or that, everyone usually questions them to give up some sort of proof.
But I think people are so eager to believe it here, that they're just trusting this "Template" with no actual proof that it came from someone who knows what their doing.
