I'll ask you once again ....Please do not sell schematics ...its destroying our profession. at min it should cost 10 million for a schematic. but please ....if you have any love for your fellow BE ..dont sell these ...for there will be a day when they will never come to us again for anything if you keep this up. It scares me to think that someone would sell any schematic for less then 3 million ....chefs are one of the most profitable professions out there ..forking in 3mil a day ...come on people ..think ...for the good of all BE's ..dont sell your schematics.

You are flaming me???? Because I wanted 3 million for a crafting schematic worth 10 million to the chef??? I was askign for less than one third what he would make from the brandy he was going to make. Before you flame someone maybe you should understand the topic. He wasn't asking me for supplements, he was asking me to give away all my time and effort i spent to become a Master BE for next to nothing. This has never been about the money for me. I sell my chef additives for 20/40/60k respectively, I have a few chefs who buy from me regularly and i give them discounts for their loyalty. If someone wanted a whole run of additives I would easily sell them all 40crates for 1 million even though at 40k a crate it would be 1.6 million. So the next you think you know what you are talking about ... try again. I don't think there is any reason that I would sell a schematic, there was a reason I became a BE and it isn't to male schematics for chefs so that I make my profession virtually useless and hurt my fellow be's by allowing chefs to get our supplements for such a low price it might hurt them. Are you even a BE? By the way thanks for the kind words, but unfortunately I have not gone broke and am around 10 million credits currently, but best of luck putting people like me out of business.

Now that I think about it though maybe you are right ... It is so easy to make +88's and +89's BSN. And since meat is so cheap on Bria I guess I should charge less for my supplements. After all a schematic with 1000's units is only a few simple items.

Ignore him dude. This guy obviously hasn't been a BE long enough to know what he's talking about. He doesn't have any idea how selling schematics hurts the profession and therefore is clueless about thereason you quoted 3 mil.

By refusing to make schematics, you are essentually demanding that the chef wait around for the BE's to harvest the necessary resources, yet because hunting isn't very productive with a CDEF pistol, you also demand that they pay ten times the normal price for those resources to compensate you for this self imposed drudgery. It's no wonder that the only thing in stock on any given chef vendor is brandy. Don't forget that schematic makers are not the only competition you must face, you also need to compete with the chef's alt character that he needs to make in order to have any hope of a well stocked chef shop.

God, I sometimes dream of the SWG daysbefore brandy. The chef revamp really messed things up. Sometimes I think a broken chef profession was a better tradeoff than this. Would anyone imagine how a smuggler would've reacted 5 months ago if you demanded a free muon or neutron pixieschematic? The thought never crossed my mind.

Ceph, your logic escapes me. I have invested so much to make schematic after schematic of high quality tissues (+87 and +117 Intels) available forthe chef community. My additive vendor is always full and they don't sell.I even have very respectful prices. The only reasonable explaination chefs prefer schematicspoints topure, uninhibited greed. Most BE's I've encountered work their butts off to keep a full stock available for purchase. The chefs would prefer to make a 95% profit instead of the measly 85% profit. After all, us BE's are only good for making trophy guildhall pets and schematics. I will neverEVER sell a schematic. And I will never play chef slave in exchange for my integrity. Once, if ever, my chef tissues sell... I'll be removing my additive vendor from my shop and willstrictly maketailor tissues and pets. At least tailors aren't damned greedy.

ummm you might want to check out lozareth and ArthurDentOnBria's posts...they appear to be on the same server as you, and given whats been happening on Bria (BE's undercutting each other down to rediculously low prices) your idea of "respectful" may be 2-3x what some of the other BE's on your server are selling for...in this case its not so much "greed" as it is simple consumer intelligence. if you could buy meat from a hunter for 5 cpu...then you found another hunter selling meat for 15 cpu...and they could both supply all the meat you needed...are you really going to buy from the 15 cpu guy regardless of whether or not you're greedy...(and should the guy selling for 15 cpu think you're greedy just cause your buying from the other guy...)

from the sounds of it...on Bria...you have your fellow BE's to thank more than chef greed.

Yes Loz sold in volume and at very low prices the only way to really compete with him was to make better tissues which was possible, but even doing that lately the big Chef's on Bria seem to have all picked up a BE alt or someone in the guild that will make them tissues at cost or schematics. Making Chef tissues on Bria is not worth the effort at the present time.

Yeah, the only chefs I'm selling to anymore are brand new to the profession. None of the popular chefs buy supplements anymore.

Lozareth is long gone.

As a Chef my MAIN complaint about buying the crates of additives from the BE is storage space. I know this doesn't help the situation, just letting you know my opinion. Say I want to buy a run of mediums and heavies, 1) I have to have 80 open slots in my inventory/backpack just to pick them up 2)I have to store all 80 of these somplace untill I use them. I would personally reather buy the schematic and resources from a BE for the FULL price they would charge for it made, but have the advantage of making it in my own factory and getting the end result storage in an output hopper.

At first I thought the prices of BE additives were sky high, then I took a look at the resources involved in making quality ones, and realized if anything it was cheaper then you would think they should be. Either way as a starting out Chef, I couldn't afford to buy many of them. I bought my first set of 10 crates of mediums and 10 crates of heavies. Then I talked to a chef friend, in my guild, who was also a BE. I told him I was working on getting master BE myself to make my own, and he made me a few schematics for free. He did this not as a BE, but as a Friend and Guildie trying to help out someone on their path to be self suffecient.

Let me be clear that I would never suggest that anyone GIVE schematics away for free. I'm just saying that if you subtract the cost of gathering and buying the resources, which happens to be most of the cost, you are left with a fair price for the schematic that cuts into NOBODY's business. Certainly you get more net credits from goods you make from scratch, but that does not mean you make more *profit*. Making 100k creds for 10 minutes of work is nothing but profit! If you want to make major profit, don't refuse to make schematics, refuse to gather resources! Make him use HIS time, and HIS storage, and HIS credits and eliminate your overhead ENTIRELY. He's not insulting your honor by asking for a reasonably priced schematic, he's doing you a favor!

It's a perfectly feasable business model. Consultants are the most over-paid people in the world. Your client supplies the capital and the grunt work, you supply the knowledge. If you have the ability to collect resources in an efficient manner, all of that value is still there. Somebody still has to do it. Who does it is irrelevant. The selling of schematics in no way diminishes the value of resource collection.

I think the reason that chefs feel the need to seek schematics rather than finished product is that BE's, without an alt character, have to pay premium prices or spend extraordinary amounts of time collecting meat. How else could there be an advantage seen by the chef to take on all the investment, risk and dirty work onto himself? The demand simply cannot be met with finished product. On Valcyn, Chef vendors outnumber BE vendors 10 to 1, where are they going to get these tissues?

I think the real answer to this problem is for rangers to be about 10 times more efficient as they are currently in gathering meat. The price of meat would come down, they're would be more BE's to supply chefs and tailors and CH's. It only makes sense for someone to give you alot money for almost no work if there is some counterbalancing economic need. The problem is that chefs, in general, have better hunting and harvesting ability than BE's, and rangers unfortunately don't hunt, since they get almost nothing out of it for the time that they spend.

I think people are trying to force this NO Schematic issue way further then is sensible. If you make a run of Additives with your resources, and sell it for 100k more then the resources cost you, your profit for the work is 100k. If you have them bring all of the resources, you give them the schematic, and you sell it to them for 100k, your profit is 100k. In both situations, the BE made exactly the same amount, the Chef has exactly the same amount of additives. The only real difference here is that the BE had to do LESS work. Im really failing to see how someone would run a business in to the ground doing this, or how that would hurt the BE community at all.

If you are selling the schematics for the same profit margin you would sell the finished product for, you would be a fool not to. Its not like this schematic you sell them is for a free lifetime of additives.

I guess what you guys are getting at is the chef shouldn't get the additives that cheap, even if they bring all the resources.Im not trying to flame here, I really just don't understand what the issue is with this.
