Gregg, this is simply not true.

Both Commando and Bounty Hunter devote a lot more SP to being a novice. They have to hold two starter proffessions to get to novice.

Now, of course, the melee kids don't live with this particular problem; it takes more SP to be a novice CH than it does to be any melee elite or ranged elite profession novice.

point taken... what i was thinking was classes that branch directly from one previous. IE CH comes from Scout only, Melee and ranged come from marksman... commando and BH are a mix, and should be powerful as such. We use more points than any melee or ranged profession i should say (Unless they go up the ranged combat tree in marksman)

The primary problem I have with the CH portion of the combat adjustment was that the primary reason given for it was that the pets just didnt give the game a "starwarsy" feel. I counter that argument with just how "starwarsy" is it currently with a bunch of people running around with swords, and pikes, and lightsabers?

I have no CH agenda. I was a MCH back before the big "adjustment", I saw what was coming. I cashed in on the mounts patch, and then I cashed in by selling all my pets while they were still desirable, and then I dropped CH like a rock. I will say this, CH was the most fun profession I have played in this game.

Nowadays Im one of those so-called stackers, if i bother to get buffs I can kill almost any creature in this game by myself. And with very little risk really. I rarely hunt anymore because quite frankly there is no challenge whatsoever and its simply boring. And i don't have uber weapons, in fact I havent purchased a weapon in months, I simply kill them with my bare hands.

In summation, the creature adjustment was a huge mistake without also doing the rest of the balancing in a timely manner. I post this in support of the most fun profession in this game at one time, and to the memory of better days.

my 2 cents....

1. Heavy weapon consumables....I made a weaponsmith as i was unable to find any of the cooler looking weapons for sale (rocket launcher, Heavy particle beam cannon, etc) So, i make a few....they are a complete pain in the rear to make. Vastly more difficult to make than any other weapon. So what does that difficulty get your average master commando? Not much...since there don't appear to be any heavy weapon specials and thus no modifiers, my flamer thrower with flame single 2 far outdamages those consumable weapons. In my mind, these weapons should do huge amounts of damage....HUGE. They should be the most powerful weapon in the game....yes, even more than the acklay Power hammer and the krayt t21!

2. Damage....To me the commando should be the big damage dealer...with a high cost, of course. To me, it's far more "realistic" in an SWG sense to have it this way. If i wanted a master swordsman, i'd go play everquest. The plethora of swordsman/fencers/tkm only exist due to their effectiveness in combat. We should out damage any of the melee classes....we're shooting rocket launchers for valhalla's sake!

3. blocks/misses/dodges.....in pvp, if i should a rocket launcher or flamethrower or toss a grenade, my target should not be able to block/dodge etc these area weapons. Like the addage says...close only counts in hand grenades...well, we're throwing hand grenades! The fact that i can only throw one every 9 seconds is bad...the fact that i wait 9 seconds only to miss with an area damage device is devastating!

Thatsenough from me....I've played alot of professions...mastered alot and really played them....from Jedi knight to smuggler to BH to all the melees...As far as pure combat goes, commando has got to be the worst that i've played and needs the most love. There's really very little that works (flamerthrower and grenades for combat xp (tiny little exploit) are about it!) That said, commando has something that's pure star wars to me and i'm going to keep if for awhile...

Didn't read all these posts so someone may have covered this stuff already...

1) I would like to be able to outfit some or all of my pets (where it makes some sort of sense) in armour - as it stands even the more powerful pets have light armour at best which makes them next to useless against powerful opponents.

2) I would also like the option to increase the creatures effectiveness above those found in the wild. After all we are training these creatures for combat. This could include fighting as a pack, increased damage (from teaching them to attack vital areas etc and could also allow them to target specific HAM pools like we can with weapons), armour piercing (training them to go for unarmoured areas).

3) Make pets more useful as transport - at the moment they have no real value as such beyond looking nice. Vehicles are so much faster and are very affordable, therefore no one wants mounts. So some faster mounts would be nice. Plus some limited storage on them - perhaps 10 items or so would really add to their usefulness.

These things for me would go a long way to improving the profession.

lol, now that would be funny. Oola shows up to a Cantina Crawl. Now THAT would impress me

Oola and some guards at least. No way Jabba was going to let her run around without ensuring she'd HAVE to come back.

I think oola is kinda under an excluseive contract for a certain someone. But hey maybe he could come too, jabba likes to be entertained after all.

And we know from the revised versions of ANH that Jabba enjoysan occasional slither with the commoners.

That scene was just awful. when han steps on his tail it looks like something a highschool kid editied up with his warezd movie editing software.

The only movie that was still realy good in the dvd's is Empire, and i think its a testimonial to why empire was the best in the first place... Less effects more story.

Very, very true,ESB was the best originally and isthe best now,but itis still messed up what with Boba Fett's new mob boss accent and Palpatine's HD hologram. /shudder must...resist...urge...to...break...DVDs

Hmmph and threepio's new lines...and...oh, God here I go again.

I've posted quite a bit on this already, but overall I agree with Javy--if a director wants to come back and "fix" his films that's his right as the artist. *breaks from Javy's opinion* The fact that in the process of "fixing" the films the director messes them up beyond all belief and makes them slow, painful, and dull to watch isn't relevant. What matters is he's getting back to his original concept of what he wanted them to look like. (Even if it means they look like-- *stops himself again* sorry, I get a little agitated when I talk about this. )

Well... Im not worried, i still have my original trilogy on vhs which i will gladly hang onto till they dont play anymore. MAybe i should stick em in the freezer, i hear that preserves vhs tapes.

I would recommend gettting a nice VHS player and transferring them to a DVD for storage purposes. Be careful what player you use, as older ones/heavily used ones will most assuredly eat your prized tapes. Keep an eye on DVD recorders' prices, they'll drop a lot. Then you just drop it into your AV setup and do the transfer. Voila. These, of course, would be only for private home use right

Not sure about the freezer thing - I worked in a video store in high school, and mostly the tape problems we saw weren't preservation issues, but actually malfunctioning VCR's that chomped up the tape or just ate the tape. Storage-wise I think a VHS would last a pretty fair amount of time provided it's storedupright and in someplace with a constant temperature. I still have 8-track tapes that work, and those are from the earlier days of analog recordings.
