Thread: Getting to know you and your profession!

I played EQ through several expansion releases -- I know how people who've quit get curious and come back to check things out (did it myself once), and how the advertising for a new expansion makes people come to check out a game they hadn't before.
We're gonna need those people who are about to come in for JTL to rebuild. Not just to rebuild the ranks of entertainers, but to be the next generation of players that doesn't resent the absence of buffbots simply because they never experienced them in game, and to rebuild the *respect* that is what we're lacking.
This raises another point. When JTL brings in new players, their first impression of the Entertainer professions is going to be shaped by the state those professions are in when they start playing. If that first impression is one of AFK zombies and buffbots--
Unless "after JTL" means RIGHT after JTL, there won't be a "next generation" or any kind of starting over. Those new players will resent us just as much as their predecessors.

This random sig quote is brought to you by Freefall:
"Apparently my race triggers a nurturing response in humans. They would take one look and immediately begin to regurgitate their last meal for me."

That's what's worrying me :/
But what can I do other than ask and hope to receive? so I'm askin'!
But mostly I would love to be able to call my GPS and my Prowling gurreck to follow me everywhere as these are my favorite pets.

Guys,
Dont read too much into this (i.e. - get your hopes up)....I posted about her coming and saying "hello" a few weeks ago, and Garvin really did a good job of setting me straight.
Of course, you have to notice she hasnt been in here since...
Actually, if you've followed Tigg's progression through the various professions so far, she appears to try and let the discussion flow awhile and lurks frequently...Then after a week or two, she comes back to make afinal thank you post when she feels like she understands the issues...The doesn't post often in these threads...
So far I'm really proud of the posts that this Community has made...some great stuff here...a lot to really help Tiggs get to know us and our issues...So far, if Tiggs takes anything specific away, she should be taking away how solid this community is and how we've put a lot of thought into our issues and their possible solutions...
I asked her back when you made the "hello" request a few weeks ago when she'd be getting to Commandos...She informed me that she was indeed working the professions on alphabetical order and we were next on her list (notice she's on the C's and a D...lol)...
When she does take it all in, I plan on checking in with her to see just how well she absorbed things as well as encourage her to come back anytime (I'm still working on her to create a Commando...She's got a bit of a violent streak in her, so I think she'd be reallying good at blowing things up)...
Anyway...Keep up the great posts everyone...I knew I loved this community!!!
Thats my biggest gripe, can only call out one useful pet due to the reduction in armor/resists.
Eh, pet damage too, seen droids hit harder lol

Please..please read these things and consider them carefully. Every day I have thoughts of quiting dance but I keep the hope that things will get better. I remember the old days as one of the few remaining Vet dancers on my server.

The most pressing issue is that Creature Handler was "balanced" due to the Creature Balance, yet the rest of the balance never occurred.
Nothing has been done to compensate handlers in the 11 months since that happened and it will be at least half a year before the Combat Update does get pushed through. It has killed the profession and driven myself and many long-time handlers to quit in disappointment. Moral around here is abysmal because of all these things.
What he said only he said it much nicer
Esentially CH's were nerfed to PVP uselessness and PvE adequacy. There are so many Game breaking bugs for the profession because of the "balance" that the profession is all but extinct.
we also have the joy of every bug that effects creatures effects us (pathing problems, the warping to compensate for the trapping kryats with structures exploit [which the devs forgot they eliminated warping because of the headaches it caused])
And oh yeah thanks for stopping by tiggs, you are the first read name we have seen.... well since you

Well, ok, though my answers won't be much different from those in the stickyed thread. But I will do as you ask and not read the others replies to prevent being influenced before I post my own stuff.
What bugs me most of all are the incomplete dances.
Flourish 7 & 8 in basic are the same, footloose consists of hand written flourish partially, half the flourishes in lyrical have been taken from popular or basic... and so on. There has been a thread about this recently and this is in fact what disturbs me most. The four exotic dances have... erm... six flourishes together, not even enough for a single dance. One of them is even nothing but exotic3 base dance.
The second thing is the issue with the "broken dance bases". They it is most easy to see in theatralic, formal and lyrical, but they happen those walk wraps happen in all dances except the exotics (where the character does not move around in the dance base). This puts the dances to far less use.
Another thing that bugs me is less about the game is less the game itsself but the community. Most people are completely averse trying out anything new. Not even half the features are being used, only counting those features, that have a point, but still folks keep demanding new features. Many dancers are completely averse considering if there might be a better concept for them than to dance in a cantina on there own and demand money for buffs on there own. Sometimes I got the felling that the community behaves as static as the GCW.
you know you don't have to put any programming resources at the
unattended gameplay / buffbot problem for a first quick fix?
Like another game (CoH) just _outlaw_unattended_gameplay_.
When it will be official policy, that being able to AFK the
game is a BUG, the worst offenders can be reported and be taken
care of.
Just declare: "Unattended Gameplay is forbidden!"
And please.. do it quick. The new generation of AFK dancers are
just doing this to get FRS XP. So the AFK play will not lessen
in the near future.
