Thread: Self Inflicted NERF
I have no idea what you are talking about Siyja.
If you mean "Why else would any non-rifleman actually want to use a rifle" the answer is they wouldn't.
Most weapons without specials are junk.
If that wasn't what you were asking you'll have to rephrase your comment I'm afraid, you must have typed it out that fast that it hardly makes sense sorry.

Ask yourself. Why else would any no-rifleman actually want a rifle ?
Just paraphrase you meroc : "Why else would anybody actually want a pet exactly?"
You asked why a non-ch would want a pet. I ask you why a non-rifleman would want a rifle.
I can answer both.
Some non-ch asked me to tame some natural CL 10 pets (like squalls) coz they're cute.
Some players, you can take a look at New Vitualis on Correlia (Flurry) there's one of our citizen who made a weapon gallery.
Non-rifleman have no other use of rifle, should be the same for non-ch.
Wonderful. This is all nonsense. Thisdiscussionwent from fixing a certain type of DNA to completely reversing all of the changes in the last patch.
So you don't want non-ch's to haveeven -low powered- tanks?
Reading that, my customer base is suddenly going to be CH's, and CH's almost exclusively. Why is there suddenly a demand for this? Fixing the one set of creatures that gives this overpowered DNA is the best solution here. CH's will still be able to have more powerful pets than non-CH's will, and I can't see why that is considered unfair.
I can't honestly believe I'm readingall of these statementsafter all the complaints and demands for pets that will actually sell to CH's and non-CH's alike before this patch. I'm finally happy with my profession and I feel it's finally balanced in the game.
Why must I we be forced into a niche market when there is no serious damage being done here? I've seen BE's complain about these changes more than CH's are!
I'm not asking to make overpowered non-CH pets or even super-powered CH pets. I'm asking to be able to sell useful creatures to anyone who wants one. I -hated- being a sidekick to Creature Handler's pre-patch andnow I'm being told I have toagainbecause a few people feel CH's are the only people who should be able to own useful pets of -any- power level?
The problem I havewith thesesupposed fixes is -not- that non-CH's will have better pets than CH's...that is easily fixed by removing the bugged DNA. People are asking that non-Ch's have -no- pets that can be tanks. There is no rational reasoningin this. As I mentioned, will DE's be restricted to selling their combat pets to other DE's when the january patch comes in for them? Of course not. Why should we be forced to sell our combat ablepets to CH's exclusively?
Low level non-ch pets are not broken and are not overpowered. A kaadu with 1.5-2.5k HAM -is- better than the wild versions, but not invincible and it doesn't make it's owner invincible either. If Kamuriath DNA is fixed, CH's will still command the best pets and the best clones -always-.
I've been a BE since week 3.5 after release and I've been driving hard for a major improvement like this patch. I quit because the situation seemed hopeless. Came back for mounts and stayed to see my profession finally become worth something to itself and the community. I can'taccept that one of the major saving graces of this recent patch was never meant to be included.
I never use Kamuriath DNA and never intend to, but I refuse to stop making non-ch pets using other DNA sources. I consider this a legitimate and honorable part of my profession. Being told I'm a rogue, thief or being given a similar negative title is neither fair nor acceptable in this community.
I already see the stirrings of a growing attempt to boycott people who don't follow the current opinion of the higher up's in the BE forums. Please save yourselves the embarassment of trying to kick aside your fellow players and at least support us until we can get a solid word on what the future of our profession is.
"I really do not understand you or what it is that motivates you.
I for one am pleased with the changes, they are compelling, complicated and a challenging puzzle for anyone with a brain who is not afraid to use it."
Not a one of us is asking to have the system dumbed down. We are asking that teh extreme results be identified in nature and corrected without screwing everything else up. There is nothing "challenging"about how to make these creatures, the recipes are known, on the boards, and easy to follow. You are not leet for doing it. Any BE can do it with no thought at all. If you are pinning your hopes of recognition or uniqueness on making these creatures, try again. If you think it makes you look smart, try again.
"The suffering we went through for half a year deserves the rewards that have been given to us. Why can't you guys ever be happy with anything?"
Ah, here's the real problem, a sense of entitlement. I deserve to make game breaking pets, because poorme had such ahard time of it. Well, I quit the first time before we even had factories enabled, with more money than I can spend in the game. Though most pets were useless, I made a fortune on those that were not. Suck it up, princess, its wasn't ever that bad. You sound like Michael Jackson, justifying his freakishness on not having a happy childhood.
Now, we have a system where again most pets are useless, unless theyare made through the bugs in the system. Except now, any novice can make super pets, and there is no need to master BE at all, because all of thebest stuff comes early. You surely have to understand that a system that rewards not mastering a class, and not experimenting on creations, is inherantly broken?
"There exists in the gane ways to make uber armor weapons etc. (krayt tissues, master smuggler slices, etc. etc.). Why can't you be happy with the BE profession as it is now?"
I could be happy with it, if the devs were to come out and say "It is our intention that BE's be able to make pets 30 times better than those found in the wild, so that non-CH's can have more powerful tanks than CH's nearing mastery can find in the wild". I would be estactic. Unfortunately, everything the devs have said goes against this design philosophy, and in fact our pets are in complete opposition to massive changes made to thegame to weaken non-CH tanks and goals openly stated by the devs on the boards. We should be able to make pets that are much better than wild. But we are making the equivalent of a CDEF pistol doing 1000 damage. And you know that isn't going to stand.
Furthermore, if we could use rare items to make super creatures, I would be very happy. But right now, you only need to get DNA from common-as-dirt creatures that offer no challenge at all.
"It seems that some people cannot be happy regardless of the circumstances."
It seems some people cannot be happy unless they are completely overpowered, and don't care how that affects everyone else who plays the game.
Hhahha got a 5 star, guess even the 1 star bandit loves their parents ![]()
That question has plagued Omus ![]()
He woke up naked in a Coronet holo-theatre with a really really bad frill-job.
He can't remember anything before waking up.
He's mastered 15 professions and travelled the galaxy trying to find an answer.
Ok, the BIG CH NERF happened cause of two reasons.
1) Master Creature handlers were pissed that "Dabblers" aka those of non-master status could use Grand Wrixs and Greater Sludge panthers and kick ass and would not then move up the tree. SO, Masters bitched and whined that low level CHs had too powerful creatures.
2) Masters bitched and moaned that NON-CH were getting too powerful pets at CL15 and below.
Basically the Master CH screwed over the ENTIRE CH class by asking for changes and when the changes came, they were broadsweeping and devasted the wild tame creature field as we know it.
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO BEs RIGHT NOW!
A few Masters or vocalminority are bitching and moaning about the current changes and supposedly only want one or two things changed.
Point is we all KNOW from experiencve that the Nerf Bat does not do surgical strikes but carpet bombs a class and the BEs are spelling out their own doom asking for ANY type of Nerf.
Wake up and get a clue people, this system MAY be exactly what the DEVS intended, it may not be. But when the Nerf Bat comes, it will hurt the BEs, and you will have no one to blame but yourserlves for the bruises it leaves.
