I've been watching and reading this board since I took up BE in July. I suffered with all of us while the profession was crap for 5 months. IMHO ist still takes way too many skill points for what you get but that is another matter entirely...

We wanted changes. We waited patiently. We finally got the changes. Now I can barely stand to read this board because of all the post-patch whining...

Now it seems thatwe have asmall but very vocal minority of the BE community complaining about the changes. Calling the dev a fool, wringing their hands about high cl, high HAM, and so called "exploits", it nowseems perhaps that this minority would decide the fate of all BEs out of some delusional, mascohistic, self-loathing perceptions that are frankly a mysytery too all of the other BEs. I say "seems" and "perhaps" because:

I really do not understand you or what it is that motivates you.

I for one am pleased with the changes, they are compelling, complicated and a challenging puzzle for anyone with a brain who is not afraid to use it.

The suffering we went through for half a year deserves the rewards that have been given to us. Why can't you guys ever be happy with anything?

There exists in the gane ways to make uber armor weapons etc. (krayt tissues, master smuggler slices, etc. etc.). Why can't you be happy with the BE profession as it is now?

It seems that some people cannot be happy regardless of the circumstances.

Simply because all these CH and creatures changes were intended to get the powerful pets out of the non-CH's hands and out of theCH dabblers handswhen all it did was put EVEN MORE powerful pets into their hands. You're kidding yourself if you don't see that these powerful, low CL creatures are not a problem.

If CL should be tied to anything it should be resists and damage, HAM is nothing without them. It's the resists that make creatures overpowered for their CL.

That said, even with the "uber" creatures ability to be made I sure haven't seen any out there in use. Most folks i see with pets are using tamed ones thatI can see. Well except for a couple of friends i gave a 48% resists 8k ham CL10 pet to.

I'm a master BE/CH and I'm the only person Ive seen using BE pets at all on my server on Endor or Dath or Dant.

And my ar1 40% CL35 cats are doing quite nicely I must say.

So it really doesn't seem to be a great big deal.

I have to agree with those who think the system is working as intended. I play on Bloodfin and I really havent seen any uber pets being used by non ch players...also, has anyone made a cl 10 pet with armor yet? Becuse I haven't...Most BES are happy with the changes just look at all of the other posts re. creature recipes and related topics.

Is Taeghas kidding himself? Are even more uber pets in the hands of non ch players? I still haven't seen any evidence of this.

I have seen evidence though of the following re. BE profession:

It was pathetic from game launch until the last patch.

BEs were completely screwed over during the mounts release, while CHs raked in the cash.

Now that we can make mounts nobody wants them lol because a speeder is better.

Our market to the non ch customer base is still severely limited owing to how many pets they can have..etc. etc.

All you guys who keep saying "Wait till the devs come back from vacation..." (ad nauseum) remind me of a little girl saying "Wait till your father comes home...you're going to get it then!"

Why not try learning the profession as it is now, discovering what your market is now, play the game as it is (it is btw still just a GAME)... and quit calling everyone else "exploiters"?

I realise that this is probably a pre-patch rancor. But I have seen many pictures in this forum of CL20 or under pets with light armor and 40% and higher kinetic resist.

I mean, where is the reasoning that my CL 67 Kimogila with 13kHAM light armor and 43% kinetic resist is hardly better than a CL20 dewback with 9kHAM light armor and 60% kinetic resist.

I get asked constantly for CL10 7K HAM animals. To say its not a problem is short sighted.

I don't make them and that's a personal choice and its not because I'm self loathing. I don't have to make them to keep a steady business. Most of my customers are creature handlers since I make scary mid to high level animals that compare to the old system. I believe that was the intent of the devs with this last patch. Wild animals have been lowered except for those that are rare and hard to obtain. A bio-engineer can make new and unusual animals that compare to those found in the wild pre-patch.

A CL10 7K HAM animal with high resistsdoesn't compare to any system prior to now.

Just because you haven't seem them on your server doesn't mean they don't exist. As for CL10 with armor, yes. Also there's a friend of mine with a CL0 Gurreck that has light armor as well. Then theres my personal CL5 and CL1 pets with 47% and 48% resistances to everything and around 7.5k for all pools or higher. In the case of the CL5 one he hits for 270 damage every1.8 seconds. The CL1 hits for around 170 damage. Frankly if the devs don't fix these I'm going to be laughing all the way to the bank, especially since Blizzard my CL5 Gurrcat clobbered a fully grown Grand Wrix when it was less than a day old. Boy was his owner p*ssed at meLoL

Oh just in case you still don't beleive then let me give you a URL to one of my earlier creations, sine then I have learnt more about this flaw in our system and know how to get the most from it. Still working on that elusive 10k CL1 pet though

Killed my stock of Piket/Bol combo pets on my vendor last night. It sat better with me being that the light armor to high resist voodoo of kamurith DNA wasn't happening, but I can no longer sell pets that screw the new animal balance so badly. Preparing now for the onslaught of angry customers.... ah, screw 'em . Even mad scientists haveethics I suppose.

All of you cheering and patting each other on the back while you make your CL10 creature with 8000 HAM and 40% kin resists are going to be in for a rude awakening after the holidays. Once the devs get back on things they're going to nerf you into oblivion. I can't wait the hear the screaming and crying once that happens.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

OH BROTHER another ch thats hates us... guess what we arent getting nerfed theres 1 dna thats bugged to get that results.. even i cant reproduce that kind of results with thebugged dna, thebugged dna will get fixed thats all they will do

Did you read my sig? I used to be a handler. Now I'm switching to BE.What a tool.

The graul Mauler and the GSP together got the CH tree totally revamped. People were getting the power of master with using only 20-30 points at most.

Now the BE comes along and can make a 7k 60% resist pet that you don't need any skills to use.

I don't care about bugged dna or anything anyone else considers exploits. As it doesn't seem to be an exploit and rather it is part of the system as a whole.

I just can't see why all of you that are talking about these people being fine, can honestly say that this is good for the game as a whole. Why did the devs change the stats on creatures like the GSP or GW? Because they were not balanced with the rest of the creatures. So then a BE can make something better than a prenerf GSP or GW that is only lvl 19 or maybe even lower. Correct, there is no dev responce, but probably because they are wondering how they hell they screwed it up so bad.

The BE system is amazing. I agree with the original poster about this. You basically get a blank canvus to work with stuff and it provides all the choices someone could ever want.

But I just see all these lvl 10 pets people are making and think back to why the CH profession has been nerfed EVERY publish since release. Because the devs didn't get it correct the first time I just see some fix coming in that is something like the HAM/250=CL rule. Its an easy fix and that is usually the norm for fixes.

At the moment Talth, you're our best (only!) source of information on any of this, so while other people have various ideas, fixes and such, yours are at least semi-official and based on some sort of dev contact.I'd rate your guesses at a better than 50% chance

Talthazar wrote:
Creature you make will be 2-3 CL lower than the wild version and up to 10 CL lower for high end(thats whereour correspondent says they should be at least and I have no reason to doubt him, even Tal-N seems to feel thats where they should be).

That's not what I said. The question asked asked waswhat do you feel is reasonable? I answered with what I expected.I don't really know where things will be after a fix goes in. All I really know is that Keldarin talked to Zeath about the procedure and that something is going to be done about it. It's not even really clear whether the problem is with some bugged DNA or with the system itself. To say that there's some self-inflicted nerf coming is absurd. This would have been fixed without our input.

Got any screenies of CL < 10 with AR1?

I haven't seen any myself and thought there was a hard cap on AR1 that excluded it from certain levels.
