What's meant by non-ch can only have 1 pet means 1 creature OR 1 droid OR 1 faction pet. Where as before a non-ch could have 1 creature, 1 droid and 3 faction pets. This change to 1 period was just their lazy way of limiting ATST to 1 per player.

One pet for non-CH? I dont think so, my non-ch toon had a mount and I just took out a BE dewback and have two pets in datapad.. I also traded a pet to me while still having my mount in there, so total is still two.

.. I've currently got someone else hanging onto this for me since it seems non-ch's are now limited to just one pet. That means you basically have little or no choice to have either a mount or a combat pet it would seem. I'll need to find a vehicle if I intend to use my non-mount creations. I have a good mind to sample Freakavoid and dump him into a dewback body.
what they should have done... is number of faction pets based on rank... and for imps... of those 3 pets.. the number that are allowed to be at-sts are also based on rank...
considering that imps used to have 3 atsts killing krayts.. it would STILL be a decent nerf if the highest ranking imp got 3 at-sts that are only for the gcw and now pve.. but whatever.. all the better for us rebs i guess.
*yawn*...
whats the best cl10 pet we can get here? if ifinally geta jedi.. i need to know whether imma use a cl 10 pet or a prepatched probot ... 3k ham and armor1.. (i havn't checked yet.. but i assume they didn't touch the prepatched probots)
i think flora/meat quality makes a big diff... im getting 5 samples of what talth's site says is cl27.. toss em in, experiment, and get a cl 22 pet... i think it's due to the crappy flora/meat... the stats are lower as well. =(
okay.. what i'm going for... is.. grizzled dewback phys/prow/aggr... something around low 20's with a ranged attack ment/psych
let's see if that gets us cl23ish KD/dizzy pets a mch can use 3 at once... with ranged attack..
uhm.. i can't find any dewbacks.. any help? do i take missions? how do i find those **edit**ers?
so.. since felines are the fastest.. and SOE never allowed us to genetically alter hopping speed on a rabbit... (someone PLEASE correct me if im wrong.. i hate the idea that i should be making all felines)
as an MCH i think my pvelineup is gonna be somethig like...
cl 70 bearded jax with armor1 and dizzy/KD
cl 70 kima with armor 1 and bleed/poison
cl 35 twin razor cats .. one is dizzy/kd and one is bleed/poison
cl 23 gurreks.. one dizzy/kd, one bleed/poison, one ranged atleast.. with some random mods
all of those pets should have high health, bit lower action, and significantly lower mind.... focus on kinetic resists..
*sigh* i wonder if all of that is very possible and doable?

In another thread the hypothesis seems to be that whatever you put in the Psychological slot influences the ranged attack you get.

This could very well be correct. I will post my exact findings later, but I did make a clone with 1 DNA containing Ranged Attack and it was placed in the Psychological slot. The other 4 slots had 2 different types of DNA, but with Light Armor. What I got was a cl 43 with no light armor, but Ranged Attack. When I get home I will post my sample creatures with the exact stats and combinations.
In addition, from reading other posts in the forums here,it seems templates put in Prowess and Physique most affect the resists--and that in order to get Light armor for a creature, even from DNA samples that have light armor, you need to experiment in Prowess and Physique to get that to 'stick'.
As for special attacks...I've heard that's the Mental slot--I've also heard that Aggression overrides everything and special attacks here take precedence. Still at work, so no way to test this.

I only experiment up Physique to get armor rating
On a different note. What IS the max for any given trait in sampled DNA now? I've only rarely beat the 700 mark, even as a master BE...

It's ok I think it's a bug. My datapad is reading my droid and my mount as being the same thing. Thus it thinks I have 2 pets in there which is preventing me from having any more at the moment. I haven't checked to see if I can tame a droid deed to see if there's been a slip up making all droids, faction pets and animal pets using the same capacity in the datapad. I also can't call out my droid and my mount at the same time, although i think thats intended it's very annoying to have to switch between them when i want to start and finish crafting while in the wild.
Ok, I've verified this important result:
if you put a HQ or VHQ dna sample from a creature that has a ranged attack into the mind slot, you get a creature with a ranged attack, period. You need no other ranged attack dna in the combine. This result has been repeated many many times.
Other stuff:
CL 10 critters:
I've had great difficulty getting a reasonable CL 10 creature, but I finally did it, but it took a lot of effort. I first got a ton of durni and gubber dna, and then some dna from carnoid hunters, mottled wrix, and corellian butterflies. From all this I made durnis by inserting all gubber/durni dna into the critter except putting a single dna sample from one of the "tougher" creatures into one of the slots. So for example I'd make a durni like:
physical = carnoid hunter, everything else = gurni/gubber. Then I'd experiment up the physical in the template and put the rest of my points into phychological. Then I'd do one where I built up prowess, then mind (used the corellian butterfly defender for that to get his ranged attack). The result is you get a bunch of gimped durnis that have one decent attribute and freakishly strong phych (over1000)and are generally right around CL 10 themselves. Then of course you sample the heck out of those, and piece together that 1st generation dna into your 2nd generation dna critter. Result? I got a real nice CL 10 dewback with over 4K of HAM and 120-130 damage. Nothing special as far as armor or resists go though, so lots of room for improvement. I've been looking desperately for Grondas which I believe once I find them I can use them to make a good CL 10 critter with high resists. We'll see.
CL 20 critters:
Oooh, I made some really good CL 19 and CL 20 critters. Here's how: I went to panther town on Talus. This place has a POI entry now so it's easy to find and not that far from Nashal. I got a *ton* of Greater Sludge Panther DNA there. There is wall to wall panthers there and this is outstanding dna to make CL 20 critters from because it is the right CL level to give you a nice "base" and also has good kinetic resists (30% as I recall). So my recipe is as follows: Physical: (insert something really strong here, I used a merek harvester which has 75% kinetic). Prowess: GSP, Mind: I used Corellian Butterfly Defender (ranged attack plus it is under CL 20 so helps lower the overall CL I believe)
sych: Gubber/Durni (I generally use something real weak in this slot) Agression: GSP
The result was a critter with 50% kinetic resist (!) CL 20 a ranged attack and nice HAM and damage (don't have the exact numbers on me, I'm thinking it was in the 8K/300pts range).

Would this be a bad to look smug and mention I have a clone at the moment with 55% kinetic and CL16 around the same HAM as the one you mention there?
haha Tal-N pwnz.
hm.. good info tho.. time to grab some bull rancor, corellian butterfly, and grizzled dewback dna.. gonna make me a ranged/dizzy/KD thingie.
