5. start off small, then hit dantooine, "The Planet of Grinding"
I need to pick up hunting IV then I'm all set to start. What do I need veggies for? What are the main differences between BE and say, Pharm IV? I have no idea what a schematic is.
Hmmm...I'll field this.
1. Hmm...nope. Empty-ish is fine, but see below. If you're here to grind, then you don't need to clear a lot ofinventory (I'll answer why in #2 below). Only if you are interested in getting specific DNA to make specific traits in specific clones is marked DNA space needed. Or...if you intend to DNA sample via macro (AFK), then yes, you'll need maximal space in your inventory. But while you're AFK, critters could aggro, so be sure you have your weapon du jour engaged and a little armor too isn't a bad idea as your mind will be low from the sampling.
2. Fine, but probably not necessary.The betteroption is crafting generic DNAtemplates while your mind recovers either from a) the drain your mind will experience spontaneously after several samples or b) when you withdraw from muon gold. Crafting the templates from your samples will bring you about a few hundred XP in your non-DNA-sampling trees. And if you use practice mode you get a 10% (?) bonus to XP and it clears out your DNA samples used inmaking the template. This process...sample, sample, sample, sample, sample, craft, sample, sample, etc. will keep your inventory clean and maximally optimize your time.
3. Yes. Some 150,000 units by some accounts. That's pricey my friend. But, if you get to know a ranger it's not too bad. Good luck...this gets expensive.
4. Yes...well...no...you need flora (veggies was kind of a joke). These can range from beans (veggies) to flowers (floral). But yes, you'll need about as much flora as you do meat. It's not as expensive, but I'd recommend a medium harvester.
5. Dantooine is great...once you're >DNA III. Don't recommend it at Novice, DNA I, or DNA II. Start with city trash on a begining world. Unless you like aggro and need to get combat xp. Not a good grinding place for the DNA line. And as for the other three lines, world choice doesn't matter. BUT, if you're crafting/grinding, and you need supplies, Dantooine is NOT a good place to hang. You'll want to be by a bazaar in a major city.
As for your closing comments...There is a nice BE FAQ stickied to the top of this forum. All your answers are there. A lot of good masters have contributed to that thread and I won't duplicate their awesome contributions here. If you don't know what a schematic is, however, BE is going to take a while
.

AgeOldMyth,
Many people have been told to master BE as part of their holocron experience. Many came running here looking for the same advice repeatedly. Which was answered. Repeatedly. Worse, many Holo-BEs posted how stupid our profession was and how broken it was. Repeatedly. The posts became a running commentary of people whose only purpose of being here was to get to another profession with a different character.
So, after a while, a lot of us who really enjoy the profession and who spend a lot of time, passion, and energy trying to understand the complexities of this fabulously rich gamefound the nuisancesome recurring posts offensive("How do I grind my way through this profession?" "Holo BE needs help!" "BE is Broken...why would you ever be a BE?", etc., etc.).
I'd recommend you re-read my post again. It begins with a very simple point: our forum is for sharing knowledge about the profession, sharing ideas on how to enjoy the craft, and interpreting the challenging/mysterious cloning system. Sure, it's an open forum, and anyone is welcome to post. But it's beleaguring having our forum spammed bypeople who're grinding one item repeatedly and who're sampling just to "get done with" BE. The post urges those specific people to figure out what they need to grind, and say "Thanks for stopping by quietly."
The post got stickied, I think, so that the knowledge unique to holocron-BEs would be readily available. Several holo-BEs who have posted in this thread have demonstrated a sincere interest in the profession. We welcome and foster that excitement. But if you're just here to grind and BE is just a speed bump for you, then let me say it again...We don't care...that's your problem. We have chosen to be BEs. You have chosen to become a jedi. That's not rubbing it in ![]()
the macro is full? or is only a piece?

granted i took this out of context a bit. but this is the attitude i get from MBE in general all they seem to want to do is grind out CL10 durnis using yard trash and try and pass em off as uber pets. try hiring a BE to make a REALLY good pet sometime on your server beyound CL35. it will be eye-opening as most have no clue as to what that means.
but that is a great way to incorporate people wnating to learn using such an attitude. not gonna get to many to feel your pain when you keep insulting those that either dont know about your profession or are wanting to know.
i was formerly a master rifle to go with master CH. i had been tossing around the idea of going BE so i could just make the pet i wanted since finding a BE willing to do it or even knowledgable about being a BE was impossible. then i got the holo and it said master BE. so i get to do what i was thinking about doing.
as a masterCH it doesnt surprise me that most other CH have little love for BE with the attitude that you and others put on display here.
so chill on the attitude and start helping folks. it makes your proffession appear to be nothing but filled with whiners.

Maybe it's just you. I have no problems dealing with many CHs on my server. They have me backlogged with orders.
The only whiners in our profession are those grinding it per a holocron's orders.

...Below is the text of the very best macro I've found. I'm no good at the intracacies, but this macro that follows (if followed to the letter) works perfectly every time. Now...one last thing...when you actually make the macro, be sure NOT to leave empty spaces at the end of each line. That will affect the macro negatively.
First, the macro file itself...place this in a text file called "macros.txt" (or any other filename you want as long as you accordingly update future references to macros.txt to your file's name):
----- START FILE-----
AutoCraft1: /ui action toolbarSlot00; /selectDraftSchematic 158; /pause 5; /nextCraftingStage; /nextCraftingStage; /nextCraftingStage; /createPrototype practice no item; /createPrototype practice no item; /pause 2; /AutoCraft2;
AutoCraft2: /ui action toolbarSlot01; /selectDraftSchematic 158; /pause 5; /nextCraftingStage; /nextCraftingStage; /nextCraftingStage; /createPrototype practice no item; /createPrototype practice no item; /pause 2; /AutoCraft3;

AutoCraft7: /ui action toolbarSlot06; /selectDraftSchematic 158; /pause 5; /nextCraftingStage; /nextCraftingStage; /nextCraftingStage; /createPrototype practice no item; /createPrototype practice no item; /pause 2; /AutoCraft8;

-----END FILE-----
Everything in between the markers beginning with "-----" goes into the file.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Put this macros.txt file in your StarWarsGalaxies directory, usually C:\Program Files\StarWarsGalaxies by default.
This file creates what are called "aliases". Aliases are sort of like macros...only they aren't stored as macros in the CTRL-A actions list. Aliases are just a way of naming a group of individual commands so that you can then use the alias name itself as a command.
The format for creating an alias is:
/alias aliasname: /command1; /command2; /command3
Then to use the command, you would execute: /aliasname
Once the attached file is in your SWG folder, you can load up (and execute the alias commands which establish the aliases...it doesn't execute the instructions within the aliases yet) by using the command: /load macros.txt
If you take a look at the contents of the text file, you will see that there are 8 aliases created, Autocraft1 ... AutoCraft8.
Here's how to get it all working:
1. Create 8 crafting tools of the type you want to use for grinding. You can modify this process to use fewer, but you may have to adjust the pause lengths so you don't catch up to a crafting tool that hasn't finished the prototype from the last go around.
2. Go to one of your blank toolbars (using CTRL-F1 thru CTRL F6 to go through them).
3. The first toolbar slot of a toolbar is always referred to in commands/macros as toolbarSlot00. The 12th one is toolbarSlot11. If you show 24 slots on your screen, then they continue on the second row up through toolbarSlot23. Keep this all in mind if you go about modifying the macro file.
4. Drag and drop one crafting tool into each of the first 8 toolbar slots.
5. Create an actual macro by going to the actions screen, CTRL-A, and switching to the macro tab then creating a new macro. In the macro, put the single command: /AutoCraft1
6. Give this macro a name and then drag this macro from your macro list into the 9th toolbar slot (toolbarSlot08).
7. At this point, you are ready to begin crafting with the macro. It is recommended to be in an uncrowded place to avoid lag, etc. Hitting any key between F1 and F9 will at this point begin the macro chain. The macro boots the crafting sessions and gives you 5 seconds to load all the resources. It will then do a practice session on the item for you. The macro as it is provided here, selects the 158th schematic in your datapad. This is the pistol barrel for me.
To change the schematic: Open up your datapad and click on schematics. If you have previously sorted your schematics list by anything, then the default order may have been disturbed and the following technique may not work: Click on Change View, to see a vertical list of schematics, count the first schematic as 0 and the second one as 1, etc. Those are then the numbers to use in the /selectDraftSchematic XXX; portion of the autocraft macros. If you want to double check your work, open up a crafting session to the very first screen and then type in the command: /selectDraftSchematic XXX where XXX is the number you want to test.
To change the amount of time you have to select your resources, change the "/pause 5;" that follows the select draft schematic command. The lower you go, the more chance you will have of skipping a "beat" in the chain - but the chain continues. Another trick is to put all of your unnecessary resources elsewhere like in a backpack, so you only have the actual resources you'll be clicking on available in your inventory as you use this macro.
If you actually want to create the items, "/createPrototype practice no item;" needs to be changed. I believe that "/createPrototype;" will produce the items, but I haven't tested this out.
If you want to modify these things, here's some info on how it works:
The aliases AutoCraft1 - AutoCraft8 get loaded when you load the macros.txt file.
The first 7 of them call the next higher AutoCraft alias.
Each AutoCraft alias does the following steps:
- Clicks on its corresponding crafting tool on your toolbar.
- Selects the draft schematic
- Gives you time to select your resources
- Takes care of zooming through the rest of the crafting screens
- Gives a brief pause to allow things to settle down before moving on
The last step in each of the first seven aliases is to call the next one in line.
The 8th one, however, clicks on the 9th toolbar slot which should contain the macro you wrote which re-executes AutoCraft1 - starting the whole cycle over again. Trying to put /AutoCraft1; as the last command in AutoCraft8 will cause the game to display a message that says something like, "Alias Recursion Buster" stopped execution...which is to prevent an endless cycle of recursion in aliases. So the macro takes care of that.
To halt the macro, type /dump during one of your resource selection breaks and it will dump the paused chain of commands.
You can Alt-Tab in and out of the game to modify the macros.txt file and then when you return to the game, you can reload the file using: /load macros.txt
That will overwrite the previously loaded aliases with any updated versions of them.
I was almost going to help you till I realised your Imperial scum ![]()
*shrug* seeing as your BE Imperial scum I guess just this once *grin*
Sumorex has a good thread with how we think the formulas are working, though there still seems to be a few minor wrinkles with a few things:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bio-engineer&message.id=41338
And Alexander did a nice round up a while back with this:
Cannot help with the CL, but for the rest here you go:
Hardiness= HEALTH HAM
Fortitude= Armor. the higher the value, the higher the armor. over 500 it gives light armor
Dexterity= ACTION HAM
Endurance= Unknown. ALL critters have it same at 500 so it must be something all critters have same, could it be linked to vitality? dunno
Intellect= MIND HAM
Cleverness= to hit bonus. the higher the clev, the higher the bonus.
Dependability= maybe linked to ability to execute and learn orders. ALL critters have it either 750, 1000 or 900+ (VERY rare).
Courage= Attack Speed. 500 is 2.0. ALL Critters have this at 500 by default and most of the time Courage will not go over 500 even while experimenting.
Fierceness: Fercocity. I do not rember if 500 was 10 or something but this determine the final ferocity
Power: Damage.
I can give you also some example value:
an HAM characteristic (hardiness, Dexterity or Intellect) of 100+ gives more or less 1600 of ham (it depends on success of final combine, not on the actual value that can varies between 100 and something.. maybe 110)
150-------> 2300-2400
190-------->2900-3000
200-------->3200
250------->4300
360------->6500
400------->7100
For power it is different:
1-------->30-40 damage
30-------> 35-45
130------>120-130
150------>130-140
170------>140-150
197----->160-170
300----->250-260
390------>320-330
Xanda,
Awesome post on the macro, you already got 5 stars so I guess I can't do much (6th maybe...:smileyhappy![]()
Anyway, one question tho, is there a way to let the macro select a particularresource? for example, to make the coffee pot thingy, 2 slots needed for vegis and one for meat, is there a way to somehow say go to the open inventory window and pick a particular one needed (kinda like picking a number on theschematic being used). Thanks in advance.
