Thread: Critical Failures

I've critical failed so many items today I don't even want to think about it. This is only using about +14 and +15 tools and stations. Still, this should not be happening.

HI Treakin. I had read earlier this week about Master Armorsmiths seeing more crit fails after gaining master than before. I picked up master training Thursday night and yes, now I have more crit fails than before I received the training. Here is an example:

To grind out the last 3k crafting xp I was making MK3 psg's and each try at experimentation was a great success for 5 units in a row. After I picked up the training I returned to the shop because I still had some components left in my inventory that I had ran in my factory. So using the same components and resources I now had at least one crit fail per item during experimentation.

I hope the dev's are reading this thread because something needs to be done about this.

I too get high crit failure rates. When making a set of ubese it took me 40 segments to make a 17 segment suit. At least without a crit fail in assembly or experimentation. I have a 13 rating tool, and a 37+ station. It SHOULD not be that high of a failure rate, you'd think masters would be better at their profession.

Well, I submitted a /bug report on it already. I got a +14.76 crafting tool and a %25.8 crafting station. While I have not actually counted the times I've failed its sure does seem to be more often than with my old +%18 crafting station. I also seem to get alot more regular successes lately....asto the "Great" or "Good" successes that I was getting alot more of before.

I am not aMaster Armorsmithyet, but I do have Tech 4 and a +3 to experimentation hood (that probably does not even work because it reads +75/+78 /bug report submited). I even critical fail when making droid batteries! And while I would love to get my hands on a +%45 station I can see that its probably not doing much according to you guys. /sigh

I sure would like to see them fix Tantel and PSG's soon also...instead of making mob homes have 65k of HP. Can someone please look into the falure rate and the everchanging protection on Tantel (and PSG's?)? I think its bugged.

Oh ya, just to add, I bought 11 Krayt Dragon composite plates tonight to add to the set I'm trying to make. I paid an ungodly amount of credits for them.

Composite chest - Crit fail (4 segments gone)

2nd try - Success

Compsite Helm - Experimentation crit fail (3 segments gone)

Ok so I just lost 175,000 credits.

I am a 4422 Doctor, not the best around but pretty decent. I want to know how come it takes me 20 -25 attempts to get 1 Amazing Success ? During these 20 attempts i get 10-12 critical failures a smattering of good success' and the rare Great Sucess. I have tried using a few points at a time, all the points, I have combined while chewing gum, chanting mantras, standing on my head.......next up is wearing a bra on my head with candles burning and a sacrificial rubber chicken staked out on a Ouija Board. Anyone else have this issue?

I just can't wait till we get limited to 100 items per factory run, I'll be able to get a whole 10 Stim E's if i am lucky.

Try some better tools. Crafting tools and crafting stations impart a modifier on your ability to experiment. Make sure these are as good as they can be - it's the easiest way to improve your experimentation.

As you progress up the crafting tree, you'll also have an easier time experimenting.

One other thing to keep in mind is that, the more points you spend at a time, the less likely you are to get a great or amazing success and, of course, the chance for failure goes up. As I worked my way up the tree, I often spent my points 1 or 2 at a time. Now that I'm a master doctor using excellent tools, I'll often spend 7 or 8 at a time and still come up with great successes pretty consistently.

Maleability Rating on your resources is also a factor in ensureing higher success rates.

Tools seem to be buggged at the moment. The ratings seem to be reversed such that a negative tool (like a -14.95) will actually work better than your +11 tool.

Crits will always happen, though. Even with the best tools, one EP at a time and the highet of Maleability ratings. THere is ALWAYS a chance to crit fail. I just wish they would show us that chance instead of saying 0% all the time.

I'm lost, I don't think this is this true for all schematics/resources? What about those that don't even use something with Malleability?? I think you just want high ratings on the stats specific to your schematics.... Feel free to flame away if I'm wrong though.

I am a master Doc. I have +14.88 tools and a +40 station. I use only high qual materials with Mal usually greater than 500. I crit fail very frequently. I haven't seen a risk greater than 0% in forever. I have no idea why I crit fail so often.Anyone got any ideas?
