Thread: Mask Scent

These are all good suggestions (wear Maskscent clothing, crawl) but they miss the most important tip:

When your maskscent "breaks", stop moving and wait immediately (unless you've been aggroed, obviously). Mobs seem to key in on your scent while you're moving. Wait the 15 seconds and maskscent again, then continue moving.

I used this method with Mutant Rancors and never had them aggro me because of a Maskscent break. They still aggro often on a failed DNA Sampling, which brings a world of hurt.

What does a tailor need to make mask scent clothes? I'm talking to one now and he said he needs something from a BE but dosen't know what. We're both newbies to our professions I guess. What do I give him?

I have had good luck by approaching and breaking the magic 60m mark by not moving directly at the Mutant.

It seems that if you approach at an oblique or off angle and not directly that that chance of aggo is less.
At least it seems that way.

I'm tired of chasing around mobs as a melee character with no mask scent capability. What do the other Jedi think about maybe some inborn mask-scent ability?

yep, but as of now, we want to do everything possible to make sure that jedi is among the easiest professions in the game. God forbid it be difficult like the devs said it should be.

I still think Jedi shouldnt cost 250 skill points, perhaps leave enough just to master another novice profession, partially so Jedi could access other weapon types to hunt with and not give away their Jediness...or something... But I could see alot of Jedi taking scout skills for mask scent and camps and such.

Hello,

I'm not terribly good/research-intensive at this game, so I appoligize in advance for a dumb question... so..

Ack, no edit?

Anyway -- what makes Mask Scent so good? It works for me --really well-- all the time. I'm considering giving up pieces of Ranger (don't really throw traps, nor make camps) in order to push deeper into CH.

Thanks for the help.

Don't know if i should ask this here or on the scout forum. But i'm having big problems in masking my scent. A week ago i could slip past everything of level 45 with mu camo breaking only one time in a hundred or so. Now it breaks almost everytime, no matter what level the creature is (3 times in a row by a kreetle!!!!). Someone else noticed this, or is it just my imagination. Btw my mask scent is on 125.

Yeah you'll learn that kreetles dont count. For something without a nose they seem to smell us about a mile away.

It's probably a philosophical thing.... "Kreetles and rasps exist to keep Scouts and Rangers humble."

Humble

"Ok i think I'll go digging for bait along this shore line even though i could do it in a desert"
/forage
"You have recovered 1 Wedding Cake"
/scratches head

"Ok need a break lets unpack a camp"
/unpack instafortress HTFB
"I feel secure knowing that laser fence will protect me"
/noticed crazed durni going under the fence
"Well heck I mean at least the rain won't get me"
/unpack umbrella because HTFB roof is full of holes

Yeah I agree the Kreetles exist to keep us humble. Shame Tat insect meats never in demand we could just create harvesting amoebas to kill them all. I think we would enjoy that just a little.
