Well it'll always say 'variation of' followed by the species name. So you can call it a Taun Taun on the deed but it'd appear as a Cu Pa when it's tamed and examined I'd imagine. But the fact is that it looks, moves and sounds like a Taun taun so why not call them what? It's basically like saying that a Scottish Terrier and a Poodle are both variations of a canine.. well to be exact they're variations of the wolf but you get my point You can have various breeds of Cu Pa and one just happens to be a Taun Taun.

More experiments in creatures ...

it's getting tricky to figure out how to transfer specials to the creatures ...

Wow, those are odd results.

That's putting it mildly .... if anyone comes up with combinations they'd like me to try (limited to a BE with clone 1 and sampling 1 on Naboo) I'd be happy to try ... I'm hoping to get to Dantooine and see what I can find there in a few days too.

Have you tried taming the same creature but with different CL's to see if theres a size difference? I thought that was supposed to be part of the new Cloning system (size and color)

I tamed all the vir vurs I created but I didn't notice a significant size difference. Don't forget that they revert to babies when you tame them so small differences in size aren't noticable .. and Vir Vur babies are small!!

After the patch tonight, I'm going to try CuPas ....

I've been messing w/ resists.

Different slots in the template definitely have different weights.

To get a 75% resist you need DNA with a 75% resist to start with. Resists aren't addative. They get averaged (a weighted average) by slots... haven't pinned them down yet.

5 DNA with the same resists will get you a critter with those resists.

However...

Mixed DNA with mixed resists will average higher or lower per resist depending on which slot the resist is in... So DNA with 1 or 2 very low reists, can be "patched" by mixing in DNA with good resists in those missing areas...

The DNA in the Non- major slots will average in the higher resist, at a much less favorable ration... On the good side.. this secondary DNA will not lower the main slot resists much while doing so

For example (will only use 3 resist stats to make it easy)

Slot 1 (Slot where Resists count more)

Acid 45
Kinetic 45
Blast 16

Slot 2

Acid 14
Kinetic 42
Blast 45

The final creature would have say

Acid 32
Kinetic 44-45
Blast 23

The DNA in the second slot lowers the acid a little and raises the blast a little, and does very little to kinetic because it is weighted lower in resists. Of course the same slot may be very important to HAMs.

Trick is that there are 5 slots and they are not weighted evenly for any number of different effects we might want... Placement in the schematic seems key. Hard to say which slot contributes to what unti lthe HAM issues is fixed. It is possible to make a lot of tradeoffs though.. Especially if the specials you want come offa critters with poor CL, or bad resists.

Specials seem to be weighted by slot as well.
DNA quality also seems to play a role. 5 very poor Diseased nuna DNAs don't always give a disease special.. Average level Diseased Nuna DNA gives it much more often. Chances go down, if I don't use 5 Diseased Nuna DNA samples.

Heh .. I'm hoping to grow something I might actually use ... I'll keep a couple of the cupas if I get a CL variation

After looking at AyaOnane's Vir Vur page it looks as if all the physical attributes (Resistances, specials and ham) are coming from the HAM DNA slots. This is not unlike the current systems need for < or = CL DNA in these slots. It also seems we are seeing a cap of CL9for thisskin. It seems as if the topVir Vur'sCL should have been higher. This combined with the 2nd and 3rd tends to support this. Little early to be sure.

AyaOnane, could you post up your templates too so we can see how the resistances differ?

I know its not alot to go on, but thats the pattern I'm seeing there.

The color control is awsome.

As requested .. here's what I recorded. I only recorded the stats that had something to do with the particular slot each peice of DNA was in ... I think I'll write down the whole thing .. it might help with a pattern ..

This is going to prove quite troublesome to make a certain clone a certain way, but it does overcome the possibility of ending up with a critter that has everything weighted towards energy and kinetic so that you get those maxed out while being vulnerable to everything else.

The way I see this is that it might be a case where your forced to 'breed in' certain strengths and 'breed out' indesirable traits by sampling your clones over and remaking them if you want to get them a very certain way. Since the stats are weighted you can gradually fade out what you don't need with stuff you do need by mixing recycled dna with wild sampled dna... this could be very very interesting.

Naturally this means that some clones will be much more expensive because of the amount of effort you need from breeding in what you want.

Hmm .. I'm not sure that would work Tal-N. I re-sampled one of the CL 9 clones (the shaupaut base one) and got some very poor DNA .. much worse than anything that I put into that clone.

Re-Sampled DNA

I've also got an idea about the CL. As you can see on my page, the flora & meat that I used wasn't the absolute best. I'm wondering if that has some effect on the max CL. I have some flora/meat that is worse than what I used, I'm going to try that and see if it lowers the CL .. or if I can get some better stuff to raise CL

BTW .. wild Vir Vurs are supposed to be CL 10 (I've never seen one with any kind of character who would know)

Perhaps you should tinker around with psych and other combinations with DNA that has the specials. Trial 1 seems to show that psych needs to include the special for it to show up in the clone but Trial 1 and Trial 4 seem to show that psych itself can't create a special. Prowess, mental, and psych all had the special-DNA in them on the two clones that got special attacks; I'd suggest testing to see if that's absolute (IOW, must the special DNA be in 1 or more of those slots for it to show up in the clone?)

Maybe I'm completely wrong though

Anybody else notice that CL doesn't seem to be effected by the damage or special attacks?
