Creature you make will be 2-3 CL lower than the wild version and up to 10 CL lower for high end(thats whereour correspondent says they should be at least and I have no reason to doubt him, even Tal-N seems to feel thats where they should be).

That's not what I said. The question asked asked waswhat do you feel is reasonable? I answered with what I expected.I don't really know where things will be after a fix goes in. All I really know is that Keldarin talked to Zeath about the procedure and that something is going to be done about it. It's not even really clear whether the problem is with some bugged DNA or with the system itself. To say that there's some self-inflicted nerf coming is absurd. This would have been fixed without our input.

That argument can be made about every pretty much every other crafting profession as well, which is entirely my point.

Actually the majority of the professions in thw game sell the the end users, the people who don't have any crafting skills or do things which they need someone else to make something for them. Sure, you have a certain amount of subcontracting for things but the fact is that non of them actually need bio-engineers, none of them simply cannot function without us. However a masterartisan is needed by droid engineers, armoursmiths ect.. if they even want to make something. What valuable and utterly critical item produced by our profession is needed? Nothing. If you read various design documents about what our profession is our sole purpose is to enhance, we're a support profession and don't sell any critical items which the end user simply cannot do without... but it does make things easier. The only other professions which is as unimportant to the smooth functioning of the game as usat the moment are tailors, chefs and droid engineers.

Egotistical? Hardly. Misunderstood? Definently.

I got mentioned again, and this time not for starting this nerf crap. It's a fix, not a nerf. Those pets are completely unbalancing and I have stopped making them completely. I have been called a "dev wannabe, a "self-hating BE," etc. I don't think there is much more you can say to flame me.

If a newbie player can come into the game and get a CL10 animal with 8K HAM and high resists using no skill points what so ever why would anyone become a creature handler?

I make CL10 animals with 2K HAM, 2 specials, nice damage, and a ranged attack. I can't keep them in stock. I have orders coming out the wazzoo. I went from having 200K credits max in my account to being a millionaire in a very short period of time and my CL10 animals sell for less than 20K. Absolutely people will buy CL10 animals with 2K HAM because theyare better than the900 HAM animalsthey got in the trade in.

Its not a nerf and its not self inflicted. Its a fix and it needs to be done quickly.

@Meroc

Ask yourself. Why else would any no-rifleman actually want a rifle ?

Actualy non-rifleman wouldn't want a rifle, they're not certified for them. The certifications are these to ensure that people don't actually gain the benefit of the rifleman profession without first investing skill points into it and earning the boxes. Remind me again why the CH profession has certifications for CL ratings?

Wish I knew. Because there is really still no point in being an MCH. In my opinion, no non-ch should have a combat pet...

I'm going to try to explain very simply why we are taking such an interest in getting this nerfed. It is going to get nerfed anyway. It is completely against the design document bits they have told us. They have openly stated they don't want non-ch's having long tanking pets. They remade the entire CL system and dropped the max level non-ch's can use to achive this. CL 10, armor 1, 40% kinetic pets aren't going to be allowed to stay. Sorry.

Now, we have two choices in dealing with this. We can either whine and bitch and moan and stamp our little feet about how terribly unfair it is that we can't make level 40 creatures come out at level 10, that it will ruin the game for BE's and all players and their families. Or, we can be active and helpful participants in fixing the problem so that we don't get a haphazard nerfing that really does emasculate us. Because this group of devs have an AWFUL track record of making changes, which is really the source of this problem to begin with.

The devs supposedly return to work on the 5th. I strongly suggest that we have a reasonable position staked out about what we want to happen, and what we absolutely do not want to happen, to assist the developer brain trust in addressing the problems. If we do not do this, we are very likely going to get screwed by the "fix".

What I worry will happen the most is that they will once again "rework" the BE cloning system and turn it into a cookiee cutter crafting type thing, instead of the unpredictable art that it is now...

I've been watching and reading this board since I took up BE in July. I suffered with all of us while the profession was crap for 5 months. IMHO ist still takes way too many skill points for what you get but that is another matter entirely...

We wanted changes. We waited patiently. We finally got the changes. Now I can barely stand to read this board because of all the post-patch whining...

Now it seems thatwe have asmall but very vocal minority of the BE community complaining about the changes. Calling the dev a fool, wringing their hands about high cl, high HAM, and so called "exploits", it nowseems perhaps that this minority would decide the fate of all BEs out of some delusional, mascohistic, self-loathing perceptions that are frankly a mysytery too all of the other BEs. I say "seems" and "perhaps" because:

I really do not understand you or what it is that motivates you.

I for one am pleased with the changes, they are compelling, complicated and a challenging puzzle for anyone with a brain who is not afraid to use it.

The suffering we went through for half a year deserves the rewards that have been given to us. Why can't you guys ever be happy with anything?

There exists in the gane ways to make uber armor weapons etc. (krayt tissues, master smuggler slices, etc. etc.). Why can't you be happy with the BE profession as it is now?

It seems that some people cannot be happy regardless of the circumstances.
