Thread: Correspondent

I don't think our correspondant has to pass their personal opinion on to the devs. It is a matter of style. Some people will work much better off with a passive series of questions, others with a demanding style and others still with something in between.

Unfortunately none if it does any good if no one listens in a timely manner.

The root of our problems is that no matter what the correspondent does or says if it doesn't get looked at immediately it becomes irrelevant. It doesn't have to be acted on immediately, just looked at by the people who are making the changes.

There should have been certain professions that you couldn't spread out into, Commando is one, Bounty Hunter and Smuggler are the others. Some like Creature Handler shouldn't even exist.

The nature of the Hybrids, and their professional duties, should restrict dabbling in them.

I don't want to turn it into an argument post. The fact is, this is one of those professions, and the needs of dabblers are different than those interested in pure BH.

Just leave and go play EverQuest please.

People like you want to suck all the joy out of this game and turn it into some 'class-based' game like that tired piece of feces.

This game is about 250 skill points. Like it or leave.

Obviously Sony made some mistakes. Their biggest mistake was putting weapon skills in the Bounty Hunter skill page. There is NO denying that. It's the root of almost all the bitching you see today. All the skills on the Bounty Hunter page should have been about the activity of chasing someone across the galaxy and surprising them and apprehending them. Weapon skills were READILY available all over the skill window for any prospective BH to choose from. Sony f'd up. They f'd up with the Smuggler too, only they've managed to keep it quiet.

And yes, they screwed up with the Creature Handler skill page. You got too much tanking power for the skill points spent. What was supposed to be a symbiotic relationship and a pseudo 'tradeskillish' profession got overpowered to all hell just at the end of beta. It's just about perfect now. I would say the skill points spent to Master Medic are about equal in value to the skill points spent to Master Creature Handler. That's as it should be.

250 skill points. That's what this game is about. Like it or leave it.

I didn't sayprofessions needed to be locked in any manner, just the Hybrids for now. Just by becoming a BH or Commando you gain way too much power in PVP, and the only way THAT is ever going to be fixed is by restricting it, or removing the potential skills and power of the hybrids themselves.

And nobody wants that, so restrictions are more than likely going to come eventually. I say let's do it now and get it over with, then we can move on to shaping this profession for what it was designed to do, not just be another skill addition to pistoleers.

I would support a move to deactivate 1v1 dueling until they fix the professions and game problems.

Then they could balance PvP battlefields to their hearts desire. If they ever decide to reactivate 1v1 duels after that, they should try to remember their previous work and be reminded by the community of these other aspects that they could potentially be breaking and have to return to.

Right now it seems that they are focusing too much on 1v1 duel balancing without gathering the appropriate information:

I would like to for once see a full set of data on a lost duel began with a dev asking:

"You lost? Ok. What are your HAM bars set to? What armor were you wearing? What is your skillset? Who was your opponent? What do you think their skillset is?"

Right nowall the nerfsfeel to much like a knee-jerk reaction to "I lost and my opponent used X special on me... nerfY professionNOW!!"

Boba Fett on the Bounty Hunters Guild: "If any of its members were at all proficient, they wouldn't be in it. An organization like that is for the weak and harmless, who think that by combining their forces they might become deadly. They're wrong."

A Bounty Hunter is someone that hunts down and kills or captures someone to collect money. If you don't hunt, then you aren't a Bounty Hunter.

Pistoleers/Carbineers that that take 1 line of the Bounty Hunter profession are going to ruin it for those of us who play it as intended. You get our moves nerfed because your "original" combination is extremely over powered. You wear our title when you aren't a Bounty Hunter (see above) so people come to these boards and bitch about how we're over powered.

Bounty Hunter and a few of the other professions should be "All or Nothing", you either take it to master or you don't get any of it.

By "you" do you mean me? because if thats the case well I'm a bounty hunter that is trying to master it , I have 0 , 4 , 4 , 1 , I did have 2 , 4 , 4 , 1 but I droped all invesigation skills till its fixed I was losing way to much credits and It wasn't fun running across Lok/Endor to find my mark was in a tree or I could'nt attack it because it was white.

Why are they overpowered? is it because the extra +20 speed / acuracy they get from those two skill box's? , or maybe its because they wear the novice title and use bounty hunters skills and bounty hunter skills are to overpowered for PvP?.

I'm sure even people that dabble use bounty missions to gain credits because at novice you can make some nice credits doing missions.

If you aren't one of those, then I apologize. But it's not just 20 speed/accuracy, it's 50. +50 speed is equiv to a 50% speed increase. And I really doubt anyone does BH missions for money when I can go to lok, do 2 missions and make 32k in much less time than I could doing BH missions.

What's your malfunction. Are you Holocron now?

Last I checked, this game was a huge assortment of checkboxes that you picked from and when you put them all together you got something called a 'character'. That was the draw of this game.

Sounds like you have issues with people who understand what a skill-based game is all about.

You do realize that those stupid 'professions' didn't even get into the game until very late in development. The 'Master' box was almost an afterthought and in many people's opinion should never have gotten into the game. As for those wonderful 'titles' that Holocron was apparently forced to put in, we see how productive they are to building a community. People are judged not by how they perform or what they produce, but by some stupid tag under their name.

If you choose to play your character in a particular way, go ahead. Don't be so prejudicial and fascist as to put down the people who build their characters the way they want to and are given the tools to do so.

I may laugh at you for learning 4 different ranged weapon skills and blowing skillpoints like a dirty girl at a church picnic, but I won't say that you are playing the game 'wrong'. You have every right to spend your 250 skill points however you like and reap whatever the results of your expenditure offer.

That sums it up pritty much for me , the thing thats wrong is this game right now is you get more mods in those skill box's and better moves than you do at master , which I guess will prolly get fixed in the future or maybe it won't we'll see .

I do so love people that can't refute a point of view without insulting others.

Oh, and calling me a facist, very original.
