Thread: Pricing our new creatures? Can I hear some ideas from you all?
this is not ment a s a flame, the biggest differences between taming a wild baby and sampling an adult are
1) you have to succeed 1 time we have to succeed a minimum of 5
2) if we get less than 5 samples from the adult before it diesthen we have to find another one to sample from
3) adults hit harder and aggro faster
4) it takes me over 300 mind to sample, even enhanced i am limited on the number of times i can sample dna before i need to rest or heal my action.
5) we can still fail during experimentation and get poor results or critically fail and lose our samples.
sampling rancors is not an easy task. please keep this in mind when you ask a BE to make you a lvl 70 kimo and he is gone for 4 hours and then wants 300k for it, (this is an exageration of corse)

While 1k per CL may be acceptable for the lower end pets, my 60+'s will start at 100k. It's just way to much hassle trying to get the samples for these pets.
Several factors:
Difficulty of obtaining sample.
Number of steps required to breed in a desired trait.
I'm thinking, charge a certain ammount per point of HAM, depending on level of monster sampled, DB/Aggro adding to cost.
a gnort that has 15000 total ham(5000/5000/5000) would probably cost 7500
resists, I'd probably take kinetic, and then use that as a multiplier for cost somehow. I.e. difference between a 5000/5000/5000 0 kinetic, and 5000/5000/5000 28% kinetic would probably be 7500 for the first one and 10,000 for the second.
I'm in the same delima...am i charging to little or too much, blah blah blah. I got to thinking last night about what our critters provide for the customer. Is it anyless useful than the composit armor we all have? What is a set of average Comp armor selling for? 200K+ And these are mass produced in factories, granted they have to resources in large quantities.
I think we should charge well but not obsurd amounts...I'm not working the lvl60+ marketbut i think those critters are worth much more thanyour averagecompositearmor. I charge on my gut feeling of the value of the pet...im selling lvl40+ kimos for 100k or more if i get armor and good resists. Ive had no complaints from my customers. My prices will increase as i make better pets and can better breed the features I'm getting request for.

I just have base prices cause, I'm not really playing this game to become rich
All of the follwing prices are for creatures below CL10 (they come tamed and named):
1k for bunnies/antelopes types
2k for all the other junk
5k for mountable pets (under CL10)
10k for the blurgg/spiders/cats or other"cool" pets
50k for the Kimo skin
For creatures above CL10:
750-1000 credits per CL above 10 (price above 10 really depends on how high of a level you want you pet)
I don't know it this is a good pricing strategy but I havent had one complaint yet...

I sold a Lvl 54 Kimo with the following stats for 290k last night:
11k HAM all bars
Light Armour
45% Kinetics
80% Elect/Heat/Cold
40% Blast
Specials: Stun Strike / Strong Poison
Damage: 440-480
Attack Speed: 2.1
Made this Kimo from Arachne Queen DNA, Kwi Guardian, and Mant Screechers
I just walking into Coronet and MCH's lined up behind me and it was a full Bidding War for fifteen minutes.
Hehehehe..
I have a Blurgg with similar stats... 10k HAM, damage upper 400's...
I crafted it prepost though... so I can't tell you what DNA I used
I agree that the price curve should not be a line, but I'm still not exactly sure what I want it to be yet. I do know that sampling a bunch of dangerous animals on Yavin and Endor only to clone lvl 15-18 pets wasn't worth it(i have 3-1-2-3 btw). I guess I'll have to stick to lower lvl untill I get to master.
Had an idea, not sure if I'll use it myself or not. Probably needs some tweaking, but this way the client is actually paying for your time and effort.
DNA+BE skill+extras=price
DNA
Trash DNA=200cr/ea or 1k for a set of five
Same planet DNA=based on what the mission pays for orrough guess based on your time and effort
Off planet DNA=add in difficulty and travel
Skill
Add 1k for each engineering box.More engineering = better clone
Novice skin add 500cr
Clone 1 skin=1k
Clone 2 skin=2k
Clone 3 skin=3k
Clone 4 skin=4k
Master skin=10k
Extras
Whatever you think it's worth for a second gen clone, annoying client fee, guild discount, polite customer discount, etc.
So, let's try it.
Cu pa DNA=2k, Eng=4k, Novice skin(Kaadu)=500cr So, if I made a cu pa kaadu it would go for 6500.
Ugh
Ive been doin it like this:
3 per HAM average(so if its 1000 ham, thats 3k)
1k per 50 dam
500 per Kin %
100 per Other %
5k per special, 10 for strong special
10k if armor level
So, a creature with 5000/4000/3000, 100 dam, 20 kin, 10 energ, dizzy, stunning, ar 1 would cost:
49k. Its a bit high for now, but once they dont sell, Ill be fine.
There are a lot of BE's saying 1K per creature level and i think thats a big mistake. If you look at the risk vs reward side of things and consider the difference between making a level 30 creature and a level 60 creature I think you may change your mind a little. I can make a level 30 critter without leaving whatever planet i happen to be on. It really isn't hard at all to find a level 30 creature out in the wild anywhere in the galaxy. Compare that with level 60. The creatures that have to be sampled to get that high are almost exclusively on adventure planets, they are almost always death blow and aggro, and most of them can DB you unbuffed in 3-4 hits max. My equipment without armor is 500-1000 credits to insure per death, there is almost no risk of death for sampling in the 30's while multiple deaths are almost assured at levels of 60+. When I go to sample in the 50's I'm prepared for death, in the 60's I expect it, at 70 if I don't die it means I didn't find anything.
So the 1K scheme devalues the higher creature levels. They are much harder to collect resources for and produce.Unlike all other crafting classes we cannot mass produce clones. I would think that All of the other BE's out there would realize this and add a special fee for those extra creature levels. For instance add 10K after 40 (Travel to higher planets and a set of buffs and insurance). After level 50 add an additional 20K(30K total) to the creatures base price ( to cover all of the above plus extra trips to the insurance terminal and your extra time). Anything over 60 that is good quality(not great mind you, just good) gets a 50-100K surcharge because at that point you are stepping up to the things that can kill you in 2 swipes and are at the very least several hundred meters out (lots of extra insurance and travel time for fewer quality samples). In the rare case that an exceptional pet is made screw the whole system and take a hint from the weaponsmiths and start an auction. Let the CH's decide what that awesome critter that will outlast 5 or 6 weapons is worth to them (lets face it if you know what you are doing you can keep a pet for months of hardcore gaming show me the weapon that lasts as long.)
To the master CH that brought up taming, nice try, but I'm a master CH and a Master BE. When you are taming and you get aggro the first hit comes from the baby, you hit the burst and you are out of there. When a BE gets aggro its from an adult and that first hit stings alot worse. There have been instances where I've gotten a knockdown on the first hit, the second droped me to the point where I couldn't run. I have done a lot of taming and I have died twice and both times it was because I hit the wrong hotkey at the begining of the tame and instead I turned on my burst and rather than wait it out I kept taming and was tired when aggro came(I have since moved the key for burst to a different position). If you are dying frequently while taming you are doing something seriously wrong.

I am selling like this. Health+action+mind Divided by 2 + 500 for every 10% resists
so If I had a 6300 ham creature and not resists I would sell him for 9450
but is he had 10% to kinetic heat and cold he would be 10950
and so on and so forth. I dont think this is to much or to little.
So if you make a lvl 50 creature with 21k health 21k action and 19k mind with 40 to kinetic and 100 to heat he would be. 100500cr basically 100k. I do not find this outrageous as this creature would be a pretty dam good pet.
All specials add are added in depending on how good the special is.
Keep this in mind as your pricing,
1. your time
2. the risk factor to make something like this is prob pretty high.
3. and any thing that degraded or was lost when you made this.
This isnt set in stone for my prices yet, this is just my current pricing system.
