I am tired of seeing people say that musicians and dancers should not be able to buff themselves because they would not listen or watch themselves in real life. So I would like to know if you agree with that, and if you do why? I am going to ask some other things too though.
Please see the questionaire here:

I too have done some singing, and I'm told I'm pretty good. I get a rush after I sing, so in effect, I am buffed in my mind. Makes perfect sense to me.

You can target yourself then /stopl and you will stop listening to yourself for a brief moment....... so... but I'd rather not talk too much about why it can or cannot work but should or should it not work.
thanks

I am a dancer in the game and a musician in real life. I have performed as an amateur and a professional in groups as diverse as rock bands and symphony orchestras, as well as giving many solo performances. Giving a performance is a rush like no other. And as far as listening to myself - if I didn't, then I couldn't perform.
I think that musicians and dancers in SWG should be able to buff themselves. If we can't listen or watch ourselves, then how can my dancer heal her own mind wounds and battle fatigue just by dancing?
I would also guess that most non-entertainer players also think that we should be able to buff ourselves, in fact my patrons have said as much to me many times. So really, the only obstacle to this seems to be developer agreement and commitment.

Do musicians in real life get pleasure out of listening to themselves play (assuming they are good)?
Hell yes! Otherwise why do it at all? Sure the practice side if you are playing solo can be a drag but to bea serious musician you have to love music which by default includes not just listening to yourself play as that may not bring as much enjoyment as the act or playing itself. Either way, pleasure is gained by the performer the majority of the time. If not, in the wrong profession

Pretty much ditto what I wrote above. Long time since I did dance IRL but again, the pleasure was gained from the act of expressing myself through dance. If it brought pleasure to others great... but I am my first audience. Hell, I still dance around the ironing board... whilst washing dishes... I doubt they are getting any pleasure from it

I think that "dancers cant watch themselves" is a retarded reason for dancers to not be able to buff themselves. Thats like saying "doctors cant operate on themselves, so they shouldnt get to buff themselves either". But we all know that doctors CAN buff themselves. So, I think it should be evened out....if docs can do self-buffs ...then dancers and musicians should be able to do self-buffs. If dancers and musicians cant self-buff..neither should docs be able to.

I wouldnt consider myself a musician in Real Life but I am a guitarist. I think pleasure is the wrong term to use for what i get out of playing my guitar. I say im not a musician because i dont know much about music, i like to think i have a gift for guitar though, and sound.. perhaps audiophile is more accurate. I've played guitar for 10, 15, 20 hours at a time. I've gone days without food, or sleep, just playing...I end up in a trance of sorts, far away from everything around me but a part of it all. To call it a mind buff would be an understatement, its more of an enlightenment. When in this state i have a greater understanding of everything, it cant be put into words, but can be experienced and appreciated.
However for the purposes of this thread, it's absolutely ridiculous that entertainers can't buff themselves. Nobody can make a sane argument that a performer's inability to enhance themselves is representative of a RL relationship between a performer and their art. It is, in fact, the enhancement itself as it affects the performer, that allows the performer to truly enhance and affect their audience.
Ever see Stevie Ray Vaughn play live? Ever wonder how hecould pull off those dumbfounding displays of showmanship and technical mastery in the middle of a sea of drunken, screaming disciples in front of him and an overwhelming wall of sound behind him? He wasn't even there, he was in the elsewhere, swimmin' in the everything.
Well.. like i said it cant be put into words... but THAT's a mind buff.. heh.
