Thread: Resource question
I don't believe so... If it is the same fruit as in your surveyor then it will have the same qualities all over the planet...Just in different concentrations..

At any given time, there will be only one kind of Dantooine berry fruit (DBF) available for harvesting (and sometimes zero kinds). The properties of this resource will be consistent over the entire planet. Every once in a while (a few days to a few weeks), the resource will shift, and the current DBF will disappear. At that point, there will either be a dry spell where there is no DBF available at all, or it will be replaced by a different name of DBF with different properties. Check back on Dantooine periodically.
When a shift occurs, then you may get one of three results, no mater what the resource is:
- Current Resource is "replaced" with a new named/stat resource.
- New Resource will co-exist with the current one for a short period before the old veriety run's out.
- No resource till the next shift.

why are some people buying resources from me for about 20-30k, and other people are saying that's a rip-off, and only offering me 2k worth of credits for it?
Some people place more worth on some resources. Also, the best answer is that some people are tightwads and will tell you whatever they can to get your price down.
And if someone could explain each of the stats for the resources, that would be extremely helpful.
Each profession that needs your product needs different stats. Anyone in the medic profession needs Overall Quality and Potential Energy. Not too sure of the others. Architects need hides for furniture, and tailors need hides for certain clothing, but neither care about the stats. Stats are only important when experimentation is a factor. A whole guide could be written about the needs of each proffesion when it comes to organic resources, so it's best to research and find out on your own.
how do I get resources with higher qualities?
Different creatures on different planets drop different resources. Talusian Avian Meat, Tattoine Wooly Hide, Corellian Animal Bones. Each has different stats, and those stats change every so often. Tatooinian Carnivore Meat could have an OQ (Overall Quality) of 918 for about 9 days, and it will change one day and switch to 237 and last 11 days. It's called resource shifting. There are certain player made webistes out there that list the stats for each resource at the current time. I don't really check them, and you're relying on the person to actaully keep it updated.
Hope this helps.
Codelar,
Someone set up a chat on Radiant just for resources. You might want to consider doing this, or see if Sunrunner has one already. That way, if you find a really good resource you can post it on the chat, or if you are looking for what is good you can ask on the chat, AND if you have stuff to sell you can offer it there. Many people looking for bone/meat/hide will ask for it on this chat and state what they are willing to pay. This way you can get multiple offers and go with the highest.
Why do some people not want to pay a lot? If they complain your price is a rip off do some research. See if you can find out what they are selling their stuff for (the stuff they use your bone/meat/hide to make). If they charge a lot for their items then they are just trying to rip you off. If they charge a reasonable amount then they are just trying to keep their own prices down. Some people have declared war against "gouging." Some just want something for nothing. ![]()
Hope that helped a little
Great questions. As someone said, some people put different value on resources. Especially if they are just needing any kind of resource to grind out the xp, they don't want to pay much for it, but don't care about stats.
For those using it to craft sellable items with experimentation, want higher quality, and usually are willing to pay for it. You want to find some specific customers like BE, Doctors, and Armor Smiths. They will pay well for large amounts of good quality stuff. Remember, the more they get the better. They can make a schematic with it, then put all those resources into a factory and crank out a bunch of the same items. That is why they like it when we sell them 30k of something.
If you want to be successful at selling resources you have to watch the Resource Shifts. As someone above said, every 1-2 weeks the servers resources change. When they change, the name of the resource for that planet will change and its stats will change. So you want to look for good quality stuff, and get a lot of it to sell. Keep hunting it until it shifts again. Then go sell it. Then go out and find where the good stuff is again, by visitiing planets, and killing what ever drops the resource you want, and checking the stats.
In general, stats between 600-800 are decent qualitiy. Stats from 800-1000, definatly over 900, are considered high quality. The more of the stats that are high the better. Here is more or less what certian professions are looking for. All professions look for high OQ(overal quality). The BE's also look for high PE(potential Energy). The chef looks for high PE and Flavor. The medics/docs look for high PE. Armor smiths look for high Malability, shock resistance. Maybe one more thing but I cant remember. ![]()
So basically you price based on the stats, and quantity. The best thing to do is get a few regular customers, BE, Docs, AS, and Chefs. Let them come to you when they need something, and go looking for it. Try to get an agree upon price per unit. A lot of the good once will already know where the good resources are. I get it lots of times, "hey I want a lot of the current Dath insect, or the Dantooine Herb". We agree on a price and I go hunting. Try to find a creature you can get missions for. This does 2 things. Makes it easier and faster to kill animals and harvest. And, you get paid for the missions. I adjust my price a little bit depending on what the critter is. How hard is it to kill, and can I get missions for it.
So hopefully this helps some. There are 2 kinds of customers, grinders and crafters. Grinders won't pay you much but dont care about quality. Crafters will pay much more, but want high quality, and both are happier with higher quantity.
Greetings all,
I am a pretty new Ranger to the sunrunner server. I have a question about resources(hide, meat, bone) and their pricings. Now, yes, I have looked at the pricing system at the top of the page. The person who composed it did a very good job, except, to new Rangers, it may be a little confusing. I know it was a little bit confusing to me. My dilemma is this.. I gathered about 2k worth of hide and bone the first day or two after becoming a ranger. And a man offered me 30k for it. So of course I said yes, and we made the exchange. Now, the last day or two I gathered about 3k worth of hide, bone and meat, and try to sell it. And people are only offering me 2k for it all. As I remember, the resources I collected a couple days ago, and just recently, were about the same in quality. I believe it was between 800-850. Eventually, I sold the 3k worth of resources for 20k. What I don't understand is why are some people buying resources from me for about 20-30k, and other people are saying that's a rip-off, and only offering me 2k worth of credits for it? And if someone could explain each of the stats for the resources, that would be extremely helpful. Like I said before, I've read the resource guide, which is a top notch guide, but for newer rangers, it can be overwelming and confusing. Also, my last question is.. how do I get resources with higher qualities? Thank you all very much for your time.
Thank you all for your help. This helps me A LOT. All of my resources so far have been 800 or above, and if that's considered high quality, they were trying to rip me off. Thanks again for your time and effort explaining this to me, it's helped considerably. The ranger forums/community is definately the best on SWG!
As a fungi, it's really not incredibly useful. As a vegetable, its very nice. If you were on ahazi, I'd probably buy 500k-1million units from you, so I'd say it is worth getting.
