Thread: What a dumbass profession
"Wow...another one of those people who come on SWG to grind, grind, grind for the **edit**ing FS slot and they don't take time to enjoy the game. "
well im NOT one of those people. I have been a bio-eng part time for quite awhile. No grinding. My xp comes from sampling and crafting. I agree with this poster. Although im only 2/0/4/1, i find the profession useless. No one buys pets, with the exception of gurrecks and rancors. No one is going to get rich selling them. Pet stims are a waste of resources. The meat market is nonexistant. The fallout of sampling DNA is non-stop downtime. 250 mind for a resource? Cmon. Soe this is a poor way to slow people down.
heres a typical sample dna session. this is non-agro, no deathblow. Sample. fail. Sample. fail. sample. success. sample. agroed. burstrun. sit down, wait for mind. go back. sample. success. sample. fail. sample. agroed. run. incapped. sit down. get mind back. go back to grinding missions as they are safer.
The only reason i keep doing this is expectation of making a better gurreck or rancor. But thats a pretty pathetic reason to continue im coming to realize. The penelties for doing this profession are just plain mind numbing, and there is simply no fun factor to it all.

Mix it up a little son, its not the end of the world if you surrender some skills and try out different professions.
It's a lot easier to surrender skills that you grinded in 4 days then it is to surrender a skill that you put your heart into for 5 months. Like I said, there's a lot more to mastering a skill then just getting the master skill box. If you don't bother truely mastering the skill and only get the box it doesn't mean that much to you.

Dude if you put your "heart" intoanything in this game you have serious problems. Give me a break about "truly" mastering the professions. Any crafting profession just boils down to finding the best resources, experimenting and assembling. You are not a rocket scientist because you created the best pet stims or best gunson your server. Cool out! Everyone just cool out. ![]()

LMAO
wow, you laughed at your own post. how creepy.

What, so you've never laughed at something you've said? And, perhaps even more idiotically, you make the point that "any crafting profession is simply a matter of finding the best resources, experimentation, and assembly." The reason that I like bio-engineering is precisely because it IS NOT that way. You're a complete imbecile to even say something like that.
Attempting to make the point that "putting your heart into" a game is weird is also absolutely retarded (I'm running out of simple adjectives that you might understand to describe your stupidity). We put our time and effort into this game. Our time is valuable, a gift, something not to be wasted; our efforts something we put towards a worthy cause. You're putting your heart into becoming a Jedi; how is that any different from the rest of us putting our hearts into becoming better bio-engineers?
And lastly, to completely blast your "you know you wanna be a Jedi 733t dood, just admit it": maybe you should just drop the blanket generalizations. I found a Holocron...and I gave it to a friend. There's no way in Hades I'm gonna drop a profession that I worked so hard towards mastering. I'm quite happy to be a bio-engineer and can say in all honesty that I have no aspirations of becoming a Jedi. I think you have this funny misconception that Jedi are a "much better profession" than any other: I hate to burst (not bust, as I'm sure YOU, Fratboy, would say) your bubble, but if everyone goes for Jedi then the game is thrown into chaos as the underpinning to the economy gives way (as all the crafters leave their professions and no one takes the time to really learn their crafting skills). Since I doubt you see the logical conclusion to this argument, I'll restate it so it's crystal clear: when no one takes the time to learn his profession (and instead simply decides that it's "all about getting the best materials and assembly and experimentation"), then the quality of the final product suffers. This means that the overall quality of items from crafting classes in-game goes downhill, which results in economic chaos as people switch back and forth amongst professions and the guy that you went to for clothing yesterday is suddenly dancing in the cantina the next. At any rate, I think maybe (with heavy emphasis on maybe) now you see why "being a a Jedi" is not somehow "the best" profession; it's simply the most glorified.
What I find most impressive is that you keep getting onto this board and making ill-informed, utterly useless posts. If you don't care so much, then why are you even bothering to come and talk to the rest of the community? You're obviously an attention-starved little kid, and despite the fact that my post will only serve to gratify your craving for attention, I'm going to put it up here anyway so you'll get an idea of how completely assinine your behavior and remarks have been.
Oh, and to reiterate (reiterate, by the way, essentially means to repeat; I'm telling you that because your vocabulary is likely too small to know what such a word means): you're a moron
wow your an angry dude. you say i generalize but then u claim anybody who wants to be a jedi is just out to be the most leet or whatever you wanna call it. Nice. Oh yeah, don't worry about the economy so much either you allen greenspan wannabe. what a tool. and yes putting your heart into a video game is weird, the fact that you don't think it is just showshow truly warped you are. ![]()
if you read my post you wouldve noticed that i was laughing about something i was reminded of in thinking of people like you.
the fact that you are capable of spending so much time, regardless of the money you are spending, on something that you dont care about seems more warped than someone putting "heart" intoa craftthey spent months of hard work perfecting. it just shows what a worthless person you must be, but then again, you are too stupid to grasp the concept of levity. why are you still posting here? are you that starved for attention? every post you make in this thread is a pathetic cry for acknowelgement. it reminds me of a todler who throws a tantrum and breaks down the stack of blecks he just built up because they dont play back.
grow up.
You are not a rocket scientist because you created the best pet stims or best gunson your server.
That's all there is to being a crafter, hey? Wow... *Sadly shakes his head*
