Thread: Hey Bio Engineers STOP COMPLAINING
Thank you Meplorium.. said it well..
you cannot explot an undocumented system.. you dont know what is right and wrong till you are given definitions of the 2.. as for unnatural and unintended...
where is the documentation
saying WHAT IS INTENDED AND NATURAL !
what rules... I definatly dont see any telling us what we can and cant do.. yes the DEVS did come aout and say teh uber lvl 10 pets were exploits. I undestand this and am glad to see a fix. but we stil dont haev anything to base off, for future pets. what will the next uber lvl 10 pet be > I've made some very good 5k ham lvl 10 pets avoiding the kamurith dna. saying they are exploited ? maybe bugged yes.. but where is the documentation saying that is not allowed....... define a non exploited lvl 10 pet that people will want. and will use. that is better than anything the wild could produce... there is no documentation...![]()
hey whoever the 1 star troll is you dont need to be here...
we need documentation on this... badly... not your explinations of how and why we cheated everyone in teh game knowing that pets were bugged... we didn't know that they were all bugged.. you cant hold us to something we dont know... i'm glad the uber lvl 10 pets were fixed. now please.... tell us what is legal and what is not though proper and complete documentation.
I would like to slide over and offer you a seat on the "balance" bench with us Creature Handlers. I am one of those people who took the wait and see attitude over the uber pets. Well I have waited and I am starting to see. Most people knew this was coming and I agree, from what I have heard, that the BE cloning process needs better documentation. I also think that there should be some kind of randomnese to represent your experimentation. Anyway, I hope they get things straightened out soon so the game can settle out.
FYI, the best level 10 pet I have found in the wild isa Carrion Spat, 1100 HAM and no resists. There is a tall, slinder doglike creature on Corellia that is level 10 as well and has almost the exact same stats. This might be a useful gauge as to why certian pets were made invalid. Another reference is the Probot, which has 5333 effective HAM when skillfully made, 800 HAM, medium armor and 40% resist across the board, and 40-50 damage. If the pet exceeds those two, then chances are it will show up as invalid.
My so-called uber creatures where always high level.
The only yhting I would like to have a Creature Level or Difficulty Level listing for the template design.(not the complexity levelel which is for the crafting, but a level of the creature)
In fact it might be real nice to see this number right as I start puting DNA in so that I can deiced to take DNA and put in appropriate DNA to get the correct Levels desired.
And taking this a step furthur...the number displayed should change reflecting experimentation done.
You know not only would this help the Crafting of Bio-Engineered Clones, but would also help the design and development of the Crafting system.
Heck a Developer could see those numbers when they are deciding if new DNA levels should be allowed or perhaps if certain caps in place should be changed.
So anywise....thats my two cents worth.
I realize the smuggler proffession with skill boxes that do nothing is a high concern.
But the genral this pet is too high level BS is not game breaking, nor are weapons that do lots of damage the fact that these things are concentrated on by the original poster and the developer team shows a total lack of trying to complete this product.
To use a real ife analogy, a plumber does not put a sink up and fiddle with the nozzle and handdles for weeks on end before laying the rest of the pipe work, since they cant tell what they are doing until they see the entire water flowing through.
You are 150% right, there is no documentation on making pets (what's right, what's not). But then again, there is no real documentation on slicing things either, but they banned people for that. I do agree, we as BE's need some form of guidelines so we can identify what's wrong with the system.
As for the refunds people are worried about, I would suggest that you tell your customers to wait for a day or 2 and see if the devs manage to fix the fix.
Every pet I made with Piket and Lesser Plains Bol DNA is now invalid. I used no tricks, no gimicks, yet they don't work anymore. How was I exploiting the system? I basically found some pets that had the resists I want and tinkered. Whether the pet had 2K Ham and 10% resist or 4K ham and 22% resist it's now invalid. I prided myself on staying away from the so called "bugged" pets, but now it appears that nearly EVERY pet we made was bugged (and not just non-CH stuff).
The bugged stuff was done by an obvious break in the system. As Tal-N (and many others) pointed out if you experimented just right it was perfect... one more point and the CL skyrocketed by 15 - 20 points. Bells and whistles should be going off there!!! WhenI wasmaking a pet and they always ranged from CL 8 - 12... not 8,9,19,10,26... how is that an exploit? That's SOE f**king fault, not mine!!! Why should I, and my customers, be punished for this???
Because I believed that I was making legitimate pets that would operate once they "fixed" the problems with thesereally uber ones I never charged much, no more than 10K per pet... so I doubt i'll have to many angry mobs wanting to burn my shop down, but still. SOE Created this mess and they're leaving it to ususpecting players to clean it up.
Tell me this; if a resource showed up that allowed weaponsmiths to make guns with twice the damage as normal would you say that's an exploit? SURELY they're doing more damage than before it MUST be a bug, yeah? Three weeks later the devs come back and go, "Oh sh*t, sorry, we didn't mean to spawn the resource with those stats. Uhm... every gun made with that will no longer fire." What??? Who's fault is it the guns were made?

Ohhhh, well then fine exploit it all you want!
How about the BE's that were scrupulously careful to avoid anything which appeared to be a questionable. They used DNA with no known bugs, are they exploiters as well? A lot of us tried to compete only using what we believed to be good DNA and then cloning it out 3 to 5 generations. That is an immense amount of work. Yet the majority of BE's as far as I can tell did in fact hold to these standards. (To be fair even the people who were using questionable DNA had to go out 2 or 3 generations which is still a lot of work. Please note questionable, we've never been told whats right or wrong, butwe've tried to be reasonable and self-policing). Using strictly good DNA and many generations it seems to have been possible to get within about 50% of what thequestionable DNA would give you. However we've never been given a guide and many of thepets made with known good DNA are also be made uncallable. As a result large amount of inventory fromBE's whostuck to these standards will have to be either destroyed to sold strictly as statues. (Not a course of action I advice because I've met several people who would buy off a statue vendor and then claim that they bought it prior to the patch and that they were lied to by the BE)
You're missing the point.
It's not UBER pets that can't be called. It's "marginally better than wild" pets that can't be called, too.

Guys, this fix may have just been to stop the old pre patch pets that non CH's can call. Many of those pre patch pets had a bug, invalid stat, that has been allowing non CH's to call level 50-60 creatures.
This not being able to call for invalid stats on so many pets may just be a side effect they didn'tsee coming of fixing that first bug.
I wish they would tell us exactly what they are trying to fix.
If you go read the discussion on the main SWG forum, there are several posts from Garva. He says that the uber non-CH pets were the result a bug, and the bugwas fixed with today's patch. Fixed as in, no longer able to be made, and no longer able to be used.
As for the higher level pets that aren't able to be called, I haven't seen anything mentioned officially about that.
Ri'a
Never mind, I looked at the posts. Garva is obviously not in the loop or aware of how things work.
First he said those pets were not tameable, they are. Sounds like he/she is speculating as much as the rest of us are.

There is a big difference between this exploit and the slicing exploit. The slicing exploit worked bymanipulatingthe user interface causing the client to trick the server. It was a very conscious act on the part of the offending smuggler. This BE exploitinvolvedtaking advantage of a flawedgamemechanicto, well, con other users andbyhavingthe system display and use a lower CL than actual.

Upset because they were taking advantage of a game flaw? (exploiting)
You don't have a clue. There was no exploit.
The DNA was sampled using the game mechanics, the templates were created according to the code. No one hacked the DNA, no one altered the pet creation mechanism.
It's not like several BE banded together to repeatedly slice DNA samples, right?!
The devs should refund BOTH the BE and their customers for the money lostand thewaste of time.
