Ok so this is rediculas! Got on tonight for the 1st time since the new publish and started trying to sample creatures. The 1st 3 times went fine, boom boom boom 3 successes. then nothing. Not one success in 27 tries!!! 2 creatures 27 tries, zip! Nada. Not one success. What the hell?? I have level 3 DNA sampling! I've never had problems sampling like this. Do you realize thats a 9% success rate overall?? What did you guys do to the BE's?? Top this with the fact that everytime I got off my speederbike out in the middle of nowhere it would autostore on me. Had to walk back to town 3 times tonight. I only played for a little over an hour and a half before I had to give up and log out because I was getting to frustraed and angry. This is suppose to be a fun relaxing escape from our day to day drudgery but anymore its getting to be more stressful and irritating that real life!!
Maybe this belongs in the artisan board, but since it concerns pretty much only us, I figure it belongs here at least...
Shellfish Harvesting Tools
Yes, they're easy and simple and all that, but what's up with each sampling making a new container? And not messaging you when your inventory is full. I made a quickie little macro to sample the stuff while chatting with friends (we have a shallow river in our city....very handy), and after about 10 minutes, I checked my inventory to see how much I had and, lo and behold, I had all of 80 crustacean and 76 Mollusk total, and divided into smaller containers. Been noticing Milk being the same way, as well, btw....no stacking. I know this option may have been put in to make AFK sampling of mollusks not happen, but it's still a royal pain the arse. Regular resources always stack, why not shellfish and/or milk?
I know I may have answered my own question, but honestly...with the pricing and rarity of meats now, not to mention the needs for the new tissues, it would be nice to be able to sample-harvest a type meat in peace that could be used in the 'creature food' slot. I mean, every other profession gets to use harvester-pulled materials to make their big items, why not us? If they were to fix this so only the 2 basic containers would be made (Mollusk+Crustacean), one of the major bottlenecks of BE production could be eased. Not eliminated, just eased. Not imbalancing at all.
My 2 cr on the patch, and a suggestion, to boot....
I'm maxed out on DNA sampling xp and also was getting a lot of failures and my ratio of AA:HQ/VHQ was 5:1.....off of huurton pups?? My inventory was completely empty aside from my single empty DNA bag, After 3 nests I switched to sampling LPB and got nothing but HQ/VHQ samples.
**scratches noggin**
You're not alone but unfortunately because it is not effecting everyone, there is nothing we can do about it.

Actually, since the patch I have not gotten that error message though I did in the past.
Also, occasionally while sampling a creature a moderate distance from its lair, I have had the creature *POOF* along with the lair and its cohorts. The message says "You begin taking a DNA sample" but then nothing (very akin to try to sample pre-December pets right after the Dec. patch hit). If I walk to where the lair was all of a sudden everyone *POOFS* back. Very, very weird.
Regarding the difficulty healing pets, at least until the personal space issue is resolved -
Group with your pet. After that, the pet's position in the group column on the left of the screen can easily be selected by hitting Ctrl+[insert the position number here]. Selecting yourself would be Ctrl+1, the next person/creature down will be Ctrl+2, etc.
It's the only way I managed to keep my party alive when I was a combat medic. Though as near as I can tell, the folks from position 10 and on are just out of luck for easy-heals.
It will, if your inventory is full you will always get a failed message. Not that it's ever happened to me.....
